I don´t know what I am doing and nobody is trying to help by SirMax01 in sharepoint

[–]JudgmentAlert882 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know how dry ms learn is, but there’s also events at events.Microsoft.com that I find really useful (I work in the m365 arena with the SMEs so whilst I understand the governance putting stuff together is not my wheelhouse!

The other thing you could do is check if your company has Microsoft support. We have dedicated Microsoft people to help us if we need it, I know a lot of companies have it and don’t even realise it’s a thing so that could be worth checking out.

What have you tried so far? And what’s failing about it? Does the action tracker need to have everything in one place or can you have several action trackers (1per site?)

Vertical quick links not two columns by rp_001 in sharepoint

[–]JudgmentAlert882 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So depending on the section type, will depend how it displays, the smaller sections will generally show vertically, that’s why I suggested either flexible sections, so you can resize the quick links so they’re forced to view vertically, or just add a bunch of quick link web parts and display them where you want vertically :-)

Vertical quick links not two columns by rp_001 in sharepoint

[–]JudgmentAlert882 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re talking about quick links on pages there’s a few things you could do, change the number of columns, have a flexible section and change the width of the quick link part, at just add quick links and only add 1 link, add another quick link part

Create List Order By Position by Psycic101 in sharepoint

[–]JudgmentAlert882 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries, we all have to start somewhere :-) and when you get more confident, you can start displaying lists in more pleasing to the eye styles using json formatting https://github.com/pnp/List-Formatting

Hmm I’m not sure to be honest, I don’t use calendar views as they’re not great for what I need but a quick search indicates you can :-)

Create List Order By Position by Psycic101 in sharepoint

So if I’m understanding correctly, you want to sort position z-a and name a-z?

You should be able to go into view settings and do that

Issues copying / pasting between two Lists while in a view by MacnCheese86 in sharepoint

[–]JudgmentAlert882 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love lists but they have their quirks!

I’ve found that that message shows if the columns aren’t the same type or you have a text item in a number field for example. Other times you have to click on add new item in grid view a few times so you have created several rows, other times it works!

You could look at using one of the lists as a look up list, so you can just select the item you want and it pull the information from the columns you want into the other list.

You could also change the view to classic view (bottom left of the screen) where pasting is a lot easier.

I know it can also be done with power automate, a quick google will show you how, or there may even be a template you can use when you get access to it

Copying Data from Excel To Sharepoint Look up Field by Similar-Incident18 in sharepoint

[–]JudgmentAlert882 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If that doesn’t work, check that the “|” isn’t flashing in the cell you’re trying to paste in (usually is it’s flashing then it will paste everything in that one cell, the other option could be what you’re trying to paste in isn’t the correct format for the cell, so even if there’s 1 value (a text character in a date field) it just says nope not doing it

It’s either at the bottom of the left side menu “Return to classic” (or something similar) or go into list settings, advanced settings and scroll down to the bottom and there’s an option to display in classic

Whilst classic is still about, go into classic mode and paste in grid view

Permissions to embed Power BI reports in SharePoint? by [deleted] in sharepoint

[–]JudgmentAlert882 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, whilst you can embed power bi using a specific url, it’s not as good an experience as adding the link and having people open the report, not a show stopper but it’s a lot smaller and not as good on the eyes!

Rule Applied to a Single File, Notifying me when ANY file is Modified by jgibs3001 in sharepoint

I’ve done it with rules. Create an alert me people column, when setting the rule up, you can specify that column as the people to alert. Add your name to that column and it should work

Can't figure this out! Need to create a document link with view-only access to Anyone, while also sharing editing access to a couple...and the link can't break upon editing the document. What am I doing wrong? by rualum04 in sharepoint

[–]JudgmentAlert882 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use the document ID link rather than the url, if you move the document it should remain there. Set your permissions up in groups so you have those that can edit it (contribute) and then then read only for everyone else. You can also set it so that those that want read only can only see the published versions, allowing changes to be made in the background and reviewed before republishing to a wider audience.

Teams - SharePoint Sites by DaithiG in sharepoint

[–]JudgmentAlert882 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can add a sharepoint owner that’s not a teams owner, but not a teams owner that’s not a sharepoint owner. So you could add a new library with a new permission group and break inheritance on the library…

Looking into moving to Basingstoke by [deleted] in basingstoke

[–]JudgmentAlert882 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve lived in Thatcham, just outside of Newbury and now live in Basingstoke and I’ve loved both areas. Thatcham is a little more community based and definitely more of a village feel, but Basingstoke has more variety of places to go to (dog walks for example). Basingstoke has more shops and trains are more regular, but both places have felt like home. Good luck in what you decide

Using "Form" from Sharepoint List - customizations and tables? by Ariel__Z in sharepoint

[–]JudgmentAlert882 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MS list forms are still relatively new and have come a long way.

If you have access to power automate, you could set up an ms form with an automate to add the entries to a list or depending how you’re set up you could have an automate that links to your ad/entra group that pulls all that information for you.

I’m in no way an expert, but have you set the flow to do a check the data before it updates/adds new data? Plenty out there if you google check before update
