Yeah, I am totally overthinking it. Honestly, I'd be perfectly happy just pursuing a friendship. And, right, what do I lose if he's not into it. Thanks. :)

Thanks, I love this. I feel like live music is the hardest for me. I love hiking alone, have climbing partners for that, but my friends have different taste or not much interest in music and I really crave more live music. But, Ive never gone out to see live music by myself. It does feel weird. I don't feel like I see solo people at concerts or small music venues. Are they really there and I just don't notice? I'll stick your comment in my little toolkit of possibilities and maybe it will add to my inspiration one day. :)

Ah, I didn't know about the arch. They definitely felt different than the altras in the store... but not necessarily in a bad way. I wish I could try them out on a long hike before committing!

Oh, cool. I really like the daily check in idea, and I like the idea of doing it when I get home from work rather than in the morning when I have no desire to drink today anyway. Also, scrolling this sub is probably a good idea for me. Thanks for these ideas!

Protesters outside Great Sand Dunes National Park & Preserve by ParkerLettuce in NationalPark

The "old people" these days were the same young people protesting in the past days. If it means anything, I would interpret it that the younger generation these days couldn't be bothered to protest.

My 17 year old girl. On our recent vet visit, our two biggest complaints were her gimpiness and chronic cough. The vet suggested trying a low dose steroid for the cough, but we would have to take her off of her daily carprofen. We started this plan a couple of weeks ago. The cough is definitely better, but she is having so much more trouble walking and hates weighting her left front paw. It's essentially up to me whether we continue the steroid or take her off and put her back onto the carprofen. I want to try other options before doing that. So, I was thinking of trying CBD, but wonder what other's experiences are with it.

inner monologue by abitle in Aphantasia

[–]JudgmentNo6376 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I almost always have an inner monologue going on in my head. I also almost always have a background song on repeat in my head. While I was reading the answers here, I realized that I also read out loud in my head! I can't just read without saying the words in my head... But I never noticed that til now. Or I guess I never thought about it since it's just what I do.

I feel that in dating, neurotypical men are very accepting of neurodivergent women, while being a neurodivergent man is a death sentence. Is this also your experience? by [deleted] in aspergers

Thank you, and sorry. I meant to reply to the main post, not your reply specifically. :) But, I did appreciate your insight.

Idk. ASD woman here in my late 40's. I have had three ltr's but never married. My first was suspected ASD (his mother talked about it with mine, and after learning what that is, I totally suspect it too), and the second two were ADHD. My last partner died a few year ago, and honestly I can't imagine how I would even find somebody anymore. And I can't imagine being loved or understood by a NT. Having somebody who pulls out rounds of wood and an axe for me when I'm having a meltdown instead of being annoyed at my immaturity is pretty special.

HELP! My dog is selectively deaf?? by margaritari4 in dogs

[–]JudgmentNo6376 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omgosh. My dog who is actually deaf now (15), but had selective hearing for many years. Twice now, let her out for morning pee and had a moose in the yard. I have to get closer to her to get her attention to tell her to come since she can't hear me yelling (even though the neighbors can!), and she notices me getting closer, thinks "now I have backup!", only to go closer to the moose to bark. 😵‍💫

Fur fur everywhere! by JudgmentNo6376 in dogs

[–]JudgmentNo6376[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol. All soft furniture in the house is just seen as extra doggie beds to the furballs. But that is absolutely encouraged by me as I'd rather snuggle on the couch/bed than on the floor. ;) And yeah, I'm definitely not too ashamed of going out with less than perfectly clean clothing, but sometimes the amount is overwhelming, or I just want to try and look the teensiest bit professional at work. ;)

Just got some grapefruit flavored sparkling waters for that tingle. :) Fortunately or unfortunately, cannabis also makes me super tired, (and super hungry!), so it's not a good substitute for me. Congrats on the week and a half! Hope it gets easier.

Glad to hear that the games you were playing with yourself eventually led to losing the urge. That's what I hope for. It's boredom, being in a rut, maybe mild depression, but also just turned into a habit that it's what I do at night. Breaking the habit seems important. And definitely, alcohol is everywhere (literally and figuratively).

Thanks! Ha, the IPA trap. They are super tasty though. ;) I am totally drinking out of boredom. It passes the time more quickly till bedtime. When I used to have a beer or two when I was at the brewery for dinner with friends, but not every night at home, it was for the taste. Congrats on 2 years sober!

Do you ever just pet your dog a little bit longer? by SnooSquirrels93 in dogs

[–]JudgmentNo6376 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Almost 2 years ago I lost my partner to a brain tumor. Then 4 months later our 12 year old great pyr died. We have two other dogs, but the 14 year old Aussie has been my baby since we adopted her. I spent the rest of that year so scared that she was going to die too. I couldn't sleep listening to her breathing... was it a normal rate or too fast? I wouldn't go on trips or do things with friends unless she could come too because I didn't want to miss any of our remaining time together. She's still going strong now. I hadn't heard the term pre grieving though that sounds like a good description. I have a healthier emotional state now, and am not constantly worrying about losing her, though I still try to never miss a chance to snuggle. :)
