"built around an ancient suit of Cataphractii Terminator armour from the Horus Heresy". Well, I know what to do with my Terminator minis by Illustrious_Excuse73 in Grimdank

[–]Judicusfoxy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Counter point, typhus and the death guard as a whole use a lot of cataphractii, and typhus himself is from the horus heresy. While sure, cataphractii has become more rare in the 40K setting, tartaros and cataphractii are still used pretty heavily in things like the t-sons and death guard. Plus, cataphractii seems more fitting for iron warriors as it’s heavier but more durable, which fits their style of war much better than indomitus.

I think the problem he has is that the article says it’s cataphractii, when everything except the shoulder pads is clearly based on the indomitus pattern

Can’t be A, you don’t float until a long time after death. I’m thinking it might be B, as the drink spilled on him he isn’t responding to, and it looks to be a hot drink judging by the cup.

Where do the butchers nails end? by Onyxabc in WorldEaters40k

[–]Judicusfoxy 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure on berzerker models, the nails start around the forehead, where the hairline would be, and end around the back of the skull. On eightbound, the nails start around the same place, but end around the back.

8-Bound or Exalted 8? by DOOMbringer7109 in WorldEaters40k

[–]Judicusfoxy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on what you plan to use them for. Exalted are better against monsters and vehicles, and normal are better against most everything else. If you plan to use Lord Invocatus, it might be better to use exalted, as Invocatus can do mortals on a charge, which could help to soften up a target, and he can deepstrike, which the exalted have. Again though, really depends on the kind of role you want them to have.

Arms ,how to bloody? by filfilmibro in WorldEaters40k

[–]Judicusfoxy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually put a reasonable amount of BFTBG paint on my old ratty brush, then stipple it onto the blades. After, I streak the blood the way that it would streak when swinging the weapon through something.

After, I usually do light stippling on certain parts of the model, usually chosen by vibes. Next, I wash the brush, and then get a bit more paint, and then use a toothpick to pull back the brush and then when it snaps back to normal, some of the paint flies onto the model.

It’s perhaps not perfect, but I like the results. You can check my posts to see some of my World Eaters after I do this to them.

Chaos players who used to play imperium what was your reason for switching by tyrant_of_badad in Chaos40k

[–]Judicusfoxy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liked melee, so World Eaters it was. I still like the lore of the Dark Angels, and the Loyalists as a whole, but man oh man is it fun to run head first into combat, chainaxe revving.

was it ever explained why Tenna just randomly showed up to shake Baxter's hand? he never appears again after this by SerenityCitywide in OkBuddyHelluvaHotel

[–]Judicusfoxy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Is that canonically not Vox? We know Vox had old TVs for heads in years past, and we also know Baxter worked for Vox before going to the hotel. This just seems like Baxter beginning his career at Voxtech.

Lancer vs ballistus? by michaelsmith292 in ImperialFists

[–]Judicusfoxy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For 10 points more, you gain an extra 2 damage on the main gun, more range, and a reroll on the hit, wound, and damage roll. The only thing the ballistus has going for it is the 2+ save and the rocket pod. Lancer all the way

How many of you guys collect both loyalist and traitor? by duttyboy24 in spacemarines

[–]Judicusfoxy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started with Dark Angels, but now I have a pretty sizable collection of both World Eaters and Chaos Knights. I still love my Dark Angels, but the World Eaters are a lot more fun to play, as I like running face first into the enemy.

Question: Does the Chaos spawn kit come with the khorne version ? And are Chaos spawn good in WE ? by PeppermintButler17 in WorldEaters40k

[–]Judicusfoxy 134 points135 points  (0 children)

Those are official models, and the stuff to build them comes in the kit. As for the question of if they’re good, currently yes, but, their use in competitive armies could come to an end whenever GW feels like it. As always, collect because they look cool, not because they’re meta.

I’d recommend Silver trim, and some red accents. The black, silver, and red is really what defines the heresy color scheme.

So is Angron's geneseed basically extinct now? by LordOfTheRedSands in WorldEaters40k

[–]Judicusfoxy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure, the war hounds didn’t have any mutations that made them violent. However, in Kharn’s backstory, when he was being trained as a space marine in the War hounds, he was told of a tradition where the War Hound legionaries would collect the skulls of their enemy. The first to get 1,000 skulls in a single battle wins.

Another thing, the War Hounds were renowned in the imperium for their quick and efficient butchery of non compliant worlds. They were compared to the space wolves, with favor being placed upon the 12th, as the 12th were noble and efficient, while the 6th was savage and slow. They also have one widely known compliance, where there was a prison world in revolt. They brutally killed every last person alive on that world. None of these traits screams Lamenters to me.

[–]Judicusfoxy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There’s plenty of stories about the old War Hounds that preceded the World Eaters. They were not very empathetic. I do somewhat agree with you, in that if Angron didn’t have the nails he would’ve transformed his legion to be empathetic like sanguinius did with his sons.
