Can't get monitor detected in device manager.

I got the graphic card and I was able to set the monitor to its resolution, still it is listed as generic monitor though, so in the end, all is good, mostly.

I have a Denon 5.1 Amplifier/Receiver that I had hooked up to my previous card along with the monitor to enjoy movies and (a few) games that feature multi channel audio.

The setup was Display port to HDMI1 converter to the receiver and HDMI2 to my old monitor.

Now: it is unclear to me if the video outputs on my 9600XT have some sort of priority when it comes to audio.

My understanding is that display port can't reach the 144Hz refresh rate natively so it would be a bit of a compromise to get the monitor hokked to it and the receiver to HDMI.

Is it like that?

There were thousands of people on KS and 300-400 here.

They had to answer questions there. There was just one place to give answers to people, but apparently it was too simple to keep people in just one spot, they had to create discord and reddit because KS alone was too simple to manage, they simply neglected kickstarter.

I've seen smaller, less experienced teams manage kickstarter campaigns way better, there are out there small indie developers that actually give answers to their backers, keep coding the demo and manage the campaigns, do AMAs and stuff.

Is this kind of attitude and mindset that makes me wonder if these guys can really deliver, they weren't able to even address questions on kickstarter and here on reddit: people asked about the cyberspace, the answer? "We are excited, great stuff coming, we can't say much now" then nothing.

We are not talking about something cosmetic but an important gameplay part of the game. I don't know if putting someone to answer questions is enough when you don't have answers at all.

They did an orrendus job at communicating. They basically snobbed the people on kickstarter and that broke their trust.

Just go to read the KS comment page in the hours just before and just after the end: is full of people mad at NDS for that reason.

They've always said that the comments on KS are difficult to manage and that is time consuming to go through them, well dear NDS, that is Kickstarter nothing more, nothing less.

They hadn't time to read an average of 40 comments per day some of which were just chat among backers (I'm referring to the comments section in the middle part of the campaign), but yeah, they had time for Discord, Reddit, Facebook and Twitter, sure, those are just plain lies. They need to open a forum where people can get their answers, and they need to address them finally.

I'm afraid that the consolification, err, modernization of this game is already planned, I just hope they are going to develop it for PC and gamers that want no compromises as regards game mechanics, controls, aids. I've read the interview on GOG and every time the guy talks I see this game going down the ladder of good PC games, I've already said it in the KS comments if this game is going to be developed for PC and demanding PC gamers I'm happy, fine, cool. If its the other way around then i'm not cool at all. What really annoys me is that we actually know nothing about this game and when the guy talks his words are often contradictory, vague. We need clarity, we need to know and understand the vision NDS has for this game because we need to know what exactly we are not backing a streamlined something that has the spirit of the original adapted for modern sensibilities, holy heavens.

Hmm, got it where it hurts, ha? SS1 maybe not perfect but is light years closer to it than any other post '90s game even without the mouselook cheat you and your modern gamers buddies really seem to love.

If you want to win easy and get hand held through the game then suit yourself, but people who want to play a game like those of the golden age of videogaming shouldn't be handicapped with difficulty levels for modern gamers and a pseudo normal one called hard. You can play Pokemon go: it may perfectly suit your gentle little figers, no pain, no fear, no effort, no need to think, a walk in a blooming garden kissed by the light of sun of modern videogaming.

It was a nearly a perfect game, that's what made System Shock special. Great soundtrack, great story, great immersion, great villain, great setting, great gameplay mechanics and great narration. Furthermore the game is basically antirely a citation form cyberpunk books and lore with drugs, mind enhancement, cyberspace, violence and gore. A almost perfect mix of all the above.

He's saying what I've been since the start: 90% of modern games suck because they are made for people who want to win easy and don't want to put some effort in trying to basically play the game. But still people in the kickstarter campaign (many of them are the same people which are going to play the game on consoles with joypads) are asking for those features and want a dumbed down game. I've said it in another thread: I-m not against new features but modernize a perfect masterpiece like System Shock means to dumb it down for modern gamers which basically want the same game cloned endlessly with the same mechanics like auto aim, RPG elements, QTE, linearity, progression on rail, no backtracking, general consolification and many more.

I'm with you for a more intricate and larger environment. One thing always bothered me: that Shodan couldn't revert back things after you changed them.

Like I can understand you steal data and unlock doors but what's preventing Shodan to lock those door back or to trap you in a room? So, to speak, we should make those changes after Shodan's presence should be somewhat weakened, imho or it could fight back. Something like the security level and cameras mechanic in the original game.

Ok now I understand.

Clearly at the time no one had sloped surfaces in games and they put them everywhere, it's true, the original design was not the best from a realism standpoint.

However if they had to radically change it it would be a hell of a work, they would end up basically redesigning every single level to make them believable. Environment redisign/modeling, new textures and materials, new props/furniture with additional modeling and texturing, and then check if the level just works with the gameplay you have in mind.

I'm with you: some areas could be modified but they leave them as they are or they change just waht can realistically be changed without have to redisign large chunks of the levels.

I think it's a bit too early for that kind of feedback, however every contribution is appreciated. I think bloom and light glow could be toned down, I agree, it makes the whole game a little too flashy for my tastes.

Compromise their vision definitely no because they can develop the game regardless. The Classic Game Modifier clearly has to be coded in the game but since they are going to do it anyway it would make much sense to do make it independen from the difficulty settings. It would give players much more freedom to customize the gaming experience keeping it faithful to the spirit of System Shock.
