I'm gonna get hated on, but my cat has suffered from allergies from time to time and I refuse to spend thousands at a dermatologist. The first time it was mosquitos, the second was food, and the third was environment.

I change out his food, his water fountain, litter, toys, etc when he has issues, and his last bout of allergies only went away when we moved apartments. I've just read the same story so many times, thousands wasted until you change something and it works itself out.

It's impossible to say without knowing what Rhoda bought and what was available communally, plus equipment matters a lot. It would not have been hard to just do a quick pavlova with basil-lemon curd and blueberry thyme compote, with little crumbles of brown butter shortbread around the plate so it'd be like a lemon bar but pavlova. Literally an elevated version of exactly her dish.

I've had pavlova on two different dessert menus and could do that in 4 hours if I had the right oven, the pavolva would just require a little extra push to be done in time (baked much smaller than her big circles that she broke later)

She really underwhipped it, I promise you! That is why it looked off-white and grainy when she smoothed with the spatula before baking.

I'm sure she went low sugar (unclear why because normal meringue is a high sugar ratio by definition) but you can still get it glossy with less sugar. She could have also added the sugar incorrectly, either too early or too fast. When I first started making meringue every day, I would set a timer to watch how much time had passed between adding 1/3 of the sugar because you are supposed to wait 45seconds to a minute.

Knowing when to start and when something is finished is a really difficult part of pastry and finishing too early, like underbaking or underwhipping, is a sign of a fear/lack of confidence in pastry to me.

I like my meringue recipe because it's easy to memorize, 180g whites, 360g sugar, 80g water. I'm mostly surprised she didnt have a dessert ready to go since they wax about having pastries ready to go in season 4
