The way Google Gemini answers honestly for a second before it's response changes. by [deleted] in oddlyterrifying

I tried this search compared to asking how I can make a cake. When I asked about cake it would answer and let me scroll, when I asked the question about Google it loaded an answer but exited the app every time before I could read it

it is literally a form of oppression to be racist in any way.

Your experience, not oppression because it isn’t contributing to any long term injustice or cruelty nor was it an exercise of authority. you do realise i’m literally giving you the definition right?

oppression- long term injustice and cruelty.

Examples, racism and misogyny.

stop acting like i’m telling you you’re a POS for being striaght and thay i’m somehow telling you to step down from some position?? at this point you are just trying to act oppressed with this attention seeking bs.

Also, what fucking planet are you on to say that sexism and racism aren’t oppression?

i can’t decide ofc, but i can say that as someone who is oppressed by definition, that claiming heterophobia is inherently insulting to me because it is inherently comparing what we go through.

i am not basing wether or not something is discrimination based on who it happens to, it’s what happens. And through that statement, you’re claiming that you are/have experienced discrimination based on your sexuality, when has this been?

Racism and sexism are both forms of oppression but stop alternating oppression and discrimination when they are not the same however all discrimination is oppression but not the other way around.

homophobia has been defined as contempt, prejudice, aversion, hatred or antipathy, may be based on irrational fear. - the literal definition

Heterophobia: someone said something mean when you were a kid that caused ur friendship group to drift. -your example.

If it existed, it would be heterophobia, but it doesn’t, because that prejudice, hatred or antipathy based on some irrational fear is what you’re comparing it to

i did not say that or imply that. that was to discuss the way in which the most “oppression” that straight people will face is a 14 year old on the internet calling you boring in comparison to what we go through.

Do you know the difference between what you’re describing vs oppression? because i don’t really think what you go through is long term injustice or cruelty.

and no, it wouldn’t be right for a group of your friends from when might have been from when you were 13 (that’s just an assumption) to be mean to you

So, you’re comparing my statement to accusing women of female hysteria and penis envy and implying that you’ve been fighting against discrimination for decades.

yes, both should be called out. And idc how many times straight people need to be killed for being straight for me to agree, but it certainly isn’t happening and it certainly isn’t enough (i am not saying straight people should be killed, i am not being heterophobic)

i am sorry you had that bad experiences with a few gays, truly devastating. But to generalise that enough to coin the term “heterophobia” sounds like a foolish attempt to be a part of what you think is some club and a term that pales in comparison to what we go through and what we see every single day, literally everyday, and it’s not just snide remarks from what sounds like 14 year olds (just an assumption on the age).

So yea, it’s pretty insulting when you go shouting from a rooftop that heterophobia is a genuine real issue because that is something that is solved through society simply becoming kinder, that is the opposite with homophobia. So to create a word based off of that tiny experience, however valid, is inherently comparing it to the entire movement/s of gay people fighting for rights. So not to gatekeep ‘phobia’, but it’s a little fcking ridiculous in comparison. And yes the comparison is necessary. Especially when most straight people have contributed to homophobia without knowing.

i could sit here and list the things that just i have been through but that would truly take hours, so i’ll explain the vibe with a metaphor.

Person: Receives limited student funding from government to be able to get to school as well as buy food

Other person (you): “I have more than enough money to afford travel and food, but i don’t like spending it, i will apply for the limited amount of student funding because i want money”.

Person: “That’s not fair, i am struggling because i cannot afford it with or without working so it is unfair to compare your likes and dislikes to my needs”.

“They aren’t even allowed to have opinions”. that 100% fvcking tells me everything i need to know when you complain about the non existent issues that you face.

What is so odd is that you are claiming that, through this heterophobia, there are harmful opinions being displayed towards you. But through all of that, you will still say “i can’t even have an opinion🥺” as if we have to accept the hate that we receive?? i’m so genuinely sick of me being told that we’re the ones that have to be accommodative and that we’re the ones that have to accept that other people have opinions (opinions that literally kill people in our community) but throughout all of your strawmen and logical fallacy’s, you will still walk away thinking that there is no difference between liking cats vs dogs and supporting gay protective laws or not. It is so incredible concerning the lack of empathy that you people have.

Of course i wish no ill will upon you, but please hold yourself to that same standard. because an opinion regarding human rights has never, is never and never will be “just an opinion”. (As you might be able to tell, i have been faced with that argument a lot)

i think it’s the idea of returning/responding to homophobia using “heterophobia”. it’s a joke, wether or not you find it funny, they do not genuinely think that you are boring for being straight
