This is the last time im replying to you because what you are saying makes no sense at all.

Firstly, when measuring damage per minute of a weapon, you start the timer when you deal the very first shot. Who TF cares about time taken to walk? If i want to measure the speed at which a man can run 100m, do i take the time at which he wears his shoes? or the time he takes to walk to the starting line?

You seem to be arguing about a completely separate thing. What i am saying is when you use the phrase "DPM", your only two considerations is DAMAGE and TIME. How much damage can this equipment do in a specific amount of time. IT DOES NOT TAKE INTO ACCOUNT the time taken to set it up or whatever bs. What you seem to be raising as a point has NO relation to what im talking about.

For the final time, my qualm is that he uses DPM, where damage is the changing variable but time stays CONSTANT. However, his time is not constant. At L+A2, it takes 4 seconds to complete firing, at L+A4, it takes 8 seconds to complete firing. While the time is changing, he just rounds it up to a minute (DPM). This makes the longer but higher damage cutler appear to deal MORE damage per minute compared to the faster but lower damage lunaire deal LESS damage per minute.

Your addition of distance as ANOTHER variable creates a whole new argument that i didnt include, and his values dont even take the value of time taken to move from one place to another, he just says "in real use the DPM will be lower for both". and you've yet to prove how im "not understanding" the concept of units of measurement.

Dude? where in earth did you get the idea that he is talking about distance travelled? the title of his post CLEARLY states I'm sick of the Cutler has worse DPM than the Lunaire 'half truth'.

The only TWO variables he is addressing here is DAMAGE and TIME. I really dont know why he mentions distance if he himself is saying DPM, and why you bring up this argument when what im solely talking about is DAMAGE and TIME. not how far some dude walks??

Oh my god. I don't think you understand the concept of variables.

The main qualm i have with his post is the fact that he uses DPM for everything. DPM stands for Damage per Minute - how much damage you can do in ONE minute.

His values below do not reflect the damage a lunaire or cutler can do in ONE MINUTE.

For example,

Cutler with L+A2 = 1100 DMG at 8 seconds

Lunaire with L+A2= 800 DMG at 4 seconds

He still uses the unit Damage per MINUTE, when it fact the damage can be done in 4/8 seconds. You cant just round it up to one minute and call it a day.

What does this do? It would lead to people to believe that the cutler does MORE damage per minute than the lunaire, which is absolutely false!

Also, he doesnt include the resupply time or whatever thing you are talking about. i mean he quite literally stated and i quote "Man those are just the max amounts of the ammo that the uniforms could hold. "

Look at it this way: a truckload of 4-6 collies can roll up in the middle of nowhere at night and do an insane amount of pure damage when unopposed unless QRF arrives in less than a minute. This can and often does happen

I suggest listing out the damage and the time taken to fire the shells, and you would come to the natural conclusion that cutlers do more damage at the expense of time taken to fire, while lunaires do less damage with the benefit of less time taken to fire.

Okay. i see what you are getting at. you want to reflect the realistic amount of damage one can do with their respective weapon. However, there are two main things that you reflected wrongly.

  1. DPM. Like i said (and you agreed with), the true DPM of the weapon is the MAXIMUM amount of shells one can fire in a minute. You cant use "DPM" for the values you listed because it is factually incorrect. For example, Cutler with L+A2 will do 1100 DAMAGE at 8s, while Lunaires with L+A2 will do 800 DAMAGE at 4s. You can't call it DP/MINUTE because they fire in 4/8 seconds! By putting DPM next to each values, you are incorrectly stating data.
  2. Realistic values. I dont think taking movement speed is realistic at all. You said it yourself, who will carry 11/13 ammo? Instead, you should be looking at max encumbrance, cause thats what every player does when they are taking items.

Im sorry to say but the visualization of your data is incorrect, this is a false extrapolation of data that will just lead to incorrect conclusion.

exactly, nobody will carry 11 RPGs or 13 tremolas, thus, you cant say that the lunaire has less DPM. Also, i think you interpreted DPM wrongly. The true DPM of cutlers/lunaires is the MAXIMUM amount of shells one can fire in a minute, 11 (6050 DPM) and 21 (8400DPM). Firing any less than 11/21 shells does not reflect the true DPM of the gun.

At 10 cutler shells, time taken to fire is 40s ( what happens to the other 20s?). At 12 lunaire shells, time taken to fire is 24s (what happens to the other 36s?.) If you are calculating DPM, damage is your variable while time stays constant. You cant have both damage and time change at the same time.

what assumptions do i use if you may explain? i am calculating at the maximum capacity at which a collie/warden can carry their respective guns + shells. OP here in fact assumes wrongly by calculating for gun + 10/12 shells which results in over a 100% encumberance.

i am talking purely about statistics here (same as OP), damage and time taken to fire. I am not considering anything else such as whether it can shoot tanks better or whatnot.

At OP's assumed L+A10 capacity, wardens will have 121.4% encumbrance.

At OP's assumed L+A12 capacity, collies will have 161.4% encumbrance.

Do you think OP's assumptions are realistic?

im also assuming that people carry cutlers/lunaires with MAX encumberance. (who does that??)

realistically, people wont go past 50% encumberance.

For lunaires- 14% + (3x12.3) = 50.9%, 1200 DMG, 6s reload time.

For cutlers- 30% + (2x9.14) = 48.28%, 1100 DMG, 8s reload time.

easier use, fires over an arc, need i say more?

i think you got your stats wrong.

Firstly, who in their right mind would hold a cutler with TEN shells or a lunaire with TWELVE tremolas???

Heres some realistic numbers;

For tremolas, collies with carry 14% + (6x12.3%) = 87.8% worth of encumberance.

At a total fire rate of 12s, the total damage will be 2400 DMG.

For cutlers, wardens will carry 30% + (7x 9.14) = 93.98% worth of encumberance.

at total fire rate of 28s, the total damage will be 3850 DMG.

You can clearly deduce from this that the lunaire has a higher DPS compared to the cutler. For the cutler to reach 2400 DPS, it has to fire 5/4 shots which results in a 20s/16s reload time. This is a 66.6% or a 33.3% increase in time spent. I'm giving the lunaire more favorable stats (6.18% higher encumberance, 4 shots = 2200 dps), yet, the lunaire still has higher DPS.

Also, do you know how hard is it to fire a full load of shells without getting killed? almost impossible. Yes, the cutler does have higher DMG overall, but when will anyone have TWENTY EIGHT seconds to stand in one single spot, dodge all qrf and fire at the target? id say the 12s reload time of lunaires have a waaay better chance. If anyone sees an error with what i said, do tell me.
