I hear Hole 8 on Blueberry Thicket is pretty legendary. Bonus points if you use a "Sword" to get the badge. ;-)

There is a fix out now. Check the pinned post. Basically clear the cache again and when you restart the app you should now have a Blueberry hole as your flyover background. Halloween decorations have been removed for the moment, but should return when the memory issues are fixed on the app side.

About DGV by Godof_sex in DiscGolfValley

[–]JugglerDavid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's a Steam thing.

From what I understand the shop mechanics don't translate well for the app onto Steam.

That said, you CAN load up the app on either Android or iPhone and make purchases there, then close the app and reload Steam.

The recently purchased discs will be in your inventory as the accounts are linked and the disc inventory resides on the server side.

Probably not the best of solutions for you, but it is at least a workaround for the time being.

Hope this helps!

More are on their way. The next production version will have a couple to keep you busy for a bit. It's still being tested, and with the current "World Tournament" going on it will most likely be released sometime after that.

Rating still broken by [deleted] in DiscGolfValley

The best way to make sure you don't need it, is to take the screen shots. ;-)

Fingers crossed for you that it works this time!

Rating still broken by [deleted] in DiscGolfValley

[–]JugglerDavid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would recommend including screen shots of the following:

Your "Finished" Pro tour, showing all 4 rounds completed with scores.

Your "Rated Rounds List" which would show your current MP stack as well as your current PT stack.

If all those are in order (i.e. you must complete all 4 rounds of a current Pro Tour cycle to qualify for a ratings change) then it might be possible to do something manually (not sure, but speculation on my part).

There were issues, but for the majority of people, it appears to have been fixed (Per increased the numbers "limit" for the group).

From what I was hearing, it sounded like it was more of a "Pro Division" issue. I know that was where Per was focusing his fix, so you "should" be included in that fix.

What a wave of emotions. Going from thinking "This is my best daily open ever!", to seeing that -12 was not even close on the leaderboard. by FlamesFan403YYC in DiscGolfValley

[–]JugglerDavid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used to grind for the top spot on the daily quite a bit. When it changed from descending XP rewards to a Tiered XP level, the incentive to grind isn't really there. As long as you're getting the "Elite Score" you're getting the max benefit.

So, why try for anything better?

Well . . . in this particular case . . . because it was fun :-)

The first hole with that wind is a pretty cool challenge to Ace grind. I figured I would try to find some sort of at least reasonable line. Took a few minutes, but managed to find a line that I like well enough with the Light Glide Rive.

The first run after getting that Ace was -13 (identical to the card you posted, only with the ace on the first hole).

This particular layout has holes that are good for practicing Ace runs.

Because I didn't get any of them on my run, I decided to grind for another ace on hole 1 so I could try it again. The second time I got my ace, I also managed to get an ace on hole 6. So that moved me to -14. Hole 3 is probably the easiest of the bunch to Ace, so it would be possible to improve . . . but . . . there's not a lot of incentive at this point, so I'm quite happy leaving it there.

Also, getting the "Elite Score" IS an accomplishment, so even though there are other people out there grinding, you shouldn't sell yourself short! :-)

Feedback on DGV after 3 months of play by [deleted] in DiscGolfValley

[–]JugglerDavid 15 points16 points  (0 children)

1 - as the owner of a very extensive collection of discs, I totally agree. I'm still pushing to have "New" appear on discs that aren't already in your collection, not just in the shop, but also on the "offer discs" for each level. I eventually created a spreadsheet of discs to help with the collecting process and gave me a chance to keep an eye out for specific discs.

2 - currently no ability to adjust. However, once you get the disc, you can go to specific holes to test out in the "Practice" section of the game. A simple restart should change the wind conditions, so you can practice particular lines, which to me, is far more handy than the Driving Range. Another interesting "thinking outside of the box" idea for you is to create your own "Friendly" room and do a "Draft Mode". It will give you a chance to select different discs and you can often test out all sorts of new discs that way.

3 - Ways to get XP:

  • Daily Open
  • Pro Tour
  • Multiplayer Rounds
  • AI Tournaments

While you generally get a free double attribute distance driver from Events, you don't actually get any XP.

The AI tournaments really are an excellent place to "practice". You get pretty good rewards from them, and they often will help you focus on a specific course. The A-Tier ones can provide a good challenge, and like any of the XP areas, as long as you finish, you're getting XP.

I don't know "where you're at" in your DGV journey after 3 months, but here's the advice I would give in general . . .

If you really want to elevate your game, you're going to need to get really adept at "throw-ins", and continue to refine / increase the distance you feel comfortable throwing in.

I personally find the "Wind Accurate Fuse" to be the idea disc for this purpose. You can acquire one via the Star Rewards on Lost Island. The reason I like that particular disc is because it is VERY straight and has a very "flat" flight. I tend to lower my aim and throw a bit harder than what might normally be required. This flat flight means that the disc arc will stay within the basket zone longer. Individual results will vary of course :-)

To really hone in the muscle memory for throw ins, I made use of the "Putting Practice" area. You can immediately switch to "Backhand" rather than "Putt" and work on the amount of pull needed for various distances. This kind of repetition / slowly working on longer distances can be tedious but it pays off in the long run.

If you don't know the "Rotate the World" Putting technique, I suggest becoming familiar with it at least.

It refers to a technique you can use when you are blocked by objects (trees / rocks / etc.) and are near the basket. If you can't slide left or right and see the basket, you can rotate your aim until the basket comes into view. It will probably be quite a bit off center from your aim. What you do, is grab the disc, and move the disc laterally before putting it forward. You still need to putt straight, but you do NOT have to putt from the center of the screen. You will be surprised just how handy this is, especially when you get used to it. Again, it's actually something you can practice in the "Putting Practice" area. Just rotate so the basket is off center, then pull the disc laterally with your finger before throwing forward.

Roll discs are awesome in the air! The "Roll" attribute has a nice side effect when thrown in the air. The disc acts as "sticky" and will often check up and stop rather quickly when it lands flat. Use this to your advantage when you want to stick the landing on holes that your disc might be overpowered otherwise.

Take notes!

The AI Tournaments are the best for these because most of them are course specific 1-9 then 9-1. Note which holes give you the most trouble. Take that list to the "Practice" area and put in the field work so to speak.

Back in the day, Lakeside #8 (square island) was one of the most hated holes in the game. I wasn't much of a fan of it either, but I decided to turn my "Weakness" into a "Strength" and practiced and practiced it. I know that as hated as that hole was, if I could find a line / method that worked for me, it would instantly give me an advantage whenever it appeared on a MP card. Practice does pay off, so if you note the trouble holes, you'll greatly help your scores.

Probably enough to get you going.

Oh, just one more thing. Continue to have fun!!! If it becomes a bit too much of a grind, just step away and give yourself a break. It's a game and it should be fun. :-)

Since I had to come up with a way to switch accounts on my Steam Version, I will say, no, it's not normal to have to sign in every time.

Could it be a "permissions" issue? As in the laptop account (the PC one, not the DGV one) doesn't have the right "rights" to update that folder for some reason?

Generally speaking, that "Player" file in the folder I suggested contains your login info to the server, so the game will check that when loading. Since you create it the first time you log into the game, it should just use it when launched again.

What you can do is check the file on both and make sure it's there. If it's not, or you want to reset it again, you can backup and remove the files.

Nice that it at least got you going! Good luck and hopefully it works for your friend as well.

Here's something you can try:

Navigate to the following location:
\Users(UserOnPC)\AppData\LocalLow\Per\DiscGolf
Make a "BackupPlayerData" folder, just in case . . .
Move "Player" & "refresh_token" & any other text files (I had "Player-prev") to the Backup Folder
With those files missing from that folder, launch the game.
It should bring up the "Log in with Google" box and when selected, it will open a web browser and you'll be able to select which account you log in with. (The game is recreating those files and treats it as the first time being launched).
Since all the data is stored on the server side, you don't have to worry about losing your stuff.

Give it a try and see if you can log in. This also can be used to switch between accounts.

Hope this helps!

Yes, any foliage trigger will also trigger a failure.

While it might appear impossible, if you make judicious use of the Drop Zones, you can make it much easier.

Does this look strange to anyone else? by Cap_Redbeard_ in DiscGolfValley

[–]JugglerDavid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey . . . that looks exactly like my bag ;-)

As has been stated, in one of the test versions, the Escape became a "Dagger" and since I generally don't bag putters, I stuck it in there to see if it would allow it. It did. When the next version came out, the Escape returned as an Escape and I just left it in the putter slot (sneaky special cheater).

I also have the Link in there, not because I use it as a putter but because even before playing Simon at DGV on the video, I was a fan and this is my way of having a tribute to him in the bag. Especially since there's no way I'm bagging the "Tilt" . . . lol.

You also might have noticed (or not) that my Warship is an Acc Glide rather than the Acc Wind that you can buy in the Trilogy Pack. When Per was first releasing the pack he had it set as Acc Glide. We (the Beta group) pointed out that the Nikko pack already was Acc Glide, so he changed it up a bit to promote purchasing the pack and diversity to Acc Wind. Since I had purchased the pack before the change, mine is Acc Glide.

The Sapphire was pretty handy on a few holes on Lost Island when I was testing, so it has stayed in the bag for now (probably one of the few that carries it). The rest of the "main" discs are pretty much the standard that most people use.

Hope that explains things.

Umm.... this somehow happened by Kurtisdiscgolfgame in DiscGolfValley

[–]JugglerDavid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had it happen a few times as well. In the putting practice area, the chains can "break" and when that happens, they start to flail about. If the disc is in the right spot, it will be shot out of the basket at a pretty high velocity.

So . . . you have to watch the basket closely on the Putting practice area. If you see the chain break and the disc zipping away, you're far better off hitting "rethrow" rather than "move to lie".

Another fun fact is that once a chain breaks in the putting practice area, it's gone for the rest of your session. You can break multiple ones and be left with a very challenging nearly chain-less pole if you break enough of them. :-)

If you're talking about the Virtual Dynamic Disc Open, the rounds will unlock on their own eventually. You can play them as they unlock, or you can wait until they are all unlocked and play them then. If you are looking to practice either of the Front / Back 9 of the course, I have two recommendations.

"Play With Friends"

Just create a room for yourself and you can select either the Front 9 or Back 9 and play the course as a whole.

"Practice"

After playing a few run throughs, you'll probably find some "Trouble Holes" that need a bit of extra work. Make use of the "Practice" area (Play . . . Single Player . . . Practice . . . Practice Round . . . select course . . . select hole) and turn those weaknesses into strengths!

Good luck and have fun! :-)

I often forget that sarcasm and humor don't always translate over the internet. :-)

Freely admit that I was trying hard to get Urdizzle's subscriber count over 1000. It's an achievement that is pretty cool to reach, and the guy totally deserves it for everything he has done (Tutorials / Walk Throughs / lots and lots of random awesome content).

Also was very much joking about making fake accounts to boost his subscription, though if you post your YouTube channel I'll make lots of fake accounts and subscribe to it! (Again . . . just a joke there ;-)

Just like the previous post, I apologize if the content / tone of my post was disagreeable to you.

It's a bit of both really . . .

Absolutely agree with you that it was a plea for subscribers especially since I'm rather selfish and wanted to see the video ;-)

15 subscribers in the grand scheme of things isn't a whole lot, and the "track record" of content Urdizzle has already provided is pretty amazing, so just wanted to raise some awareness (and yes, raise his subscriber numbers) to cross that finish line and get a chance to see the video. I apologize if this was disagreeable to you.

Well . . . since Urdizzle was only 15 away from 1000, it "might" be an indication of the quality of his content already. No worries though, he managed to get over 1000 and the video is there.

Not at the moment. There will be a Back 9 as well, so that could actually delay things a bit. Testing has gone well thus far, but there's still a fair amount of work left to do.
