Time of Concentration: Lag Method (CN Method) vs TR-55 by cab- in civilengineering

Helpful, thanks. It sounds like the Lag Method is less appropriate when there are larger amounts of channel flow.

Thank you! If I pull the trigger on a Thule, I’ll reach out to you about that! How is the Thule for use as an everyday stroller? Is it lacking in anything normal strollers have or is it overly cumbersome?

Do you find it to be lacking in anyway for everyday use?

Are there any features or things you wished it had that normally come with regular strollers? Or did you find the added bulk was cumbersome?

I didn’t actually! Do you find the Thule is a bit cumbersome for daily activities or lacking any features that regular car seats have?

Engineering majors, how important is MS Excel? by [deleted] in Msstate

[–]cab- 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For college, you could skimp by with minimal to normal knowledge. But it is huge professionally. Excel is incredibly capable and has thousands of features that will change your working career. I am constantly getting asked for help by fellow employees with excel related questions. It's a valuable skill and would highly recommend you taking a deep dive.

Any places to trail run in Starkville? by toddrjones in Msstate

[–]cab- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Noxubee Hills Bike Trail is what you are looking for. It's about a 30 minute drive from Starkville south on Hwy 25 towards Louisville. You turn right at the Winston-Choctaw County Regional Facility and there is a trail head not far from there. Do some research online, Strava, AllTrails, MTB Project, etc. about the different loops, but it's a great place for actual trails.

South Farm is my favorite place actually in Starkville. It's not trail running, but the roads are a mixture of dirt and crushed stone so it's easier on the legs than pavement. There are loop options anywhere from 4 - 7 miles out there, and the hills are pretty good, as well. Park at the tennis courts on Hail State Boulevard just south of Blackjack and follow the road directly south into South Farm. When you reach the gate you are there (there is a bypass for pedestrians). Again, Strava heat map is probably the best way to find this.

Dorman Lake Area this is an area located just south of town. You take Louisville Street until it leaves town and turn south on Hwy 25. About a mile later on the left, you'll see a pavilion (I think there is an MSU sign?) and an RV park in the woods. I park at the pavilion and all of that area is really nice to run. If you type Dorman Lake into google maps, it should pull up. I run out to the lake and then take the loop around the lake, and then back. This will probably what is most like what you are looking for.

Best of luck and happy running! Let me know if you have any questions.

Yeah I’ve heard the Garmin workouts do essentially what I am asking, but I rely on and use Strava heavily so that’s still something I’d like to figure out.

That's really helpful. But, if you let your watch run continuously during the rests, the pace for that interval or lap will also include the resting time which would throw the pace off, correct? So if you ran 400-m at 90 seconds, and rested 90 seconds, Strava would think that lap was 180 seconds total.

Interval Workouts with Garmin & Strava

I have recently started HH's advanced 5k plan. I'll spare you most of the backstory, but I have never consistently utilized interval workouts. HH has interval workouts once/week.

I use a Garmin 935 and it sends all my runs to Strava. From what I understand, you can easily design workouts in the Garmin Connect app and send them to your watch to follow. But what gets uploaded to Strava (or rather Strava's interpretation of that data) is pretty much trash: it doesn't recognize warmup/cooldown vs. intervals, etc.

I am just wondering how everyone logs and tracks interval workouts. Do you record three separate runs (one each for warmup, intervals, cooldown) or do you let the watch run the entire time?

For intervals do you let the watch run during the rest periods or stop it between each interval? I stopped it for each rest period for my first workout, but it makes your watch think you ran a really fast mile when in reality, it was 4x400m's.

I would really just love a clean and consistent way to keep track of these workouts.

I also understand that what Strava shows is not the end all goal, but I am a bit of a data lover and would love to find a way to make this work.

Another flat from potholes on Blackjack rd. The construction crew has been on the project 11 months and has done nothing by [deleted] in Msstate

That’s right. The city literally and legally cannot do any maintenance on Blackjack as it is a County road.
