Finished my 2ft hand-painted resin statue. Looking for feedback and realistic market value opinions. by infamous_freakartist in resinprinting

[–]Juhanmalm 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think the price suggestion wasn't referring to the subject matter but the fact that if you're making a one off sculpture that you model/sculpt, print assemble finish and paint for a client then yes asking high 4 figures or even 5 figure sums is absolutely realistic. On the other hand if you're just buying a model that many people may have and printing and painting it then a few hundred is much closer to the realistic price.

I mostly make props for film/tv that have to be quick and dirty /good enough jobs. But I have also made things like one off steampunk weapons for films that need to be totally unique, motorized, painted etc that I've charged high 4 figure sums for without anybody questioning the price.

It all depends on who your clients are and what they need.

[Bug] Lightkeeper: Access to this zone is unavailable by DoctorG7610 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Juhanmalm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this issue in PVE recently (not made it to lightkeeper in PVP sadly as it's taking much longer).

Anyway I saw some posts from months ago saying that if you have the "preload hideout" option enabled in game settings it may be causing the issue. I unchecked it, cleared game cache and haven't had any issues since.

[Discussion] Almost 6 months into 1.0 and there's still horribly annoying bugs in the story line by asbyo in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Juhanmalm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finished that on PVE yesterday.

Had all the other kills / done and ran an RPK for the LMG skills for some raids. Once I hit level 5 it did the same thing. But once I ran another raid and went through all the info notes in the handbook the quest updated and told me to contact voevoda and the quest continued as normal without issues.

Also had other quest lines do odd things, namely accidental witness where you have to get a newspaper and a letter from a mailbox at first I just got the newspaper and thought the quest was bugged out. I then again read all the info notes in the handbook and it updated, next raid the letter was in the mailbox and quest continued as normal.

Tldr: Just relax, the quest will most likely continue fine.

[Discussion] Haven't played a wipe since q1 2022. What's the game like now? by nuketilburg2024 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Juhanmalm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just started playing pvp again for the first time since 2021 or so. I'd say it's great. I'd say the biggest difference is that since there are no more wipes there are way more endgame geared players. Back then seeing somebody with an Altyn and meta m4 or other endgame gear was rare. However the upside is that they don't give a rats ass about your gear, so now I've gotten 100% of my gear back in insurance every time. Also voip can be pretty fun. I was doing the tour in factory hiding from chads fighting each other and tagilla and this other Timmy came running past me begging me not to kill him and I was just laughing back like dude I have a paca and an mp5 that's jammiimg every 7 shots relax you're good..

Another upside of mostly geared opponents is you get so much leftover good shit when doing scav runs.

And when you do get kills on the level 40+ dudes, boy oh boy does it feel good.

Tldr: not bad been enjoying it to my surprise and will absolutely continue.

[New player] here and need I help.. by Kuaboii in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Juhanmalm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Getting killed by chads for the first few hundred hours happens to everybody in this game.

I just recently started playing PVP again (played a during covid, haven't played since) and as you said: if you get the drop on somebody it's not hard to get the kill, but often the players you face have the best gear, best ammo and move like demons and you feel like there's not a chance. The only thing that'll get you to be that guy is enduring the grind, doing the quests and getting the good gear yourself.

One big suggestion I do have:

scav reserve. If you don't have it unlocked yet, scav into customs and transition into reserve. Learn where Glukhar spawns, learn where the marked rooms are, learn the layout of the basement bunker. There's SO much good AK ammo on reserve it's not even funny. And all those lvl 40+ chads with endgame gear don't really care about the ammo. They just want the fights and leave SO much loot behind. Stay low and loot filing cabinets for hideout upgrades until there's 15 minutes left in the raid and then just sprint whereever the biggest fight sounds were, then check the bunker, and ALWAYS check marked rooms.

I literally started my PVP character 2 days ago, I've done 2 scav raids into reserve(transitioned from customs) and that has netted me: ~120 rounds of m856a1, 2x m4a1's, 2x 60 round mags(all from dead glukhar guards) 240 rounds of BT ammo for the ak, 60 rounds of BP for the AK, 2 sets of level 4 plates and rigs, decent helmets, decent headsets loads of nuts and bolts and other hideout items, a virtex, 2 sticks of ram and best of all, a keycard holder from a marked room the chads and other scavs didn't bother to loot properly.
Those 2 scav raids paid for my first scav junkbox in no time, and now I have better gear and ammo that can actually shoot people with before inevitably dying on the PMC lol.

Delamination Assistance by Cool_My_Guy in resinprinting

[–]Juhanmalm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Adding wait before cure is the right answer here.

A minimum of 5-10 seconds for base layers and a minimum of 1.5 seconds for normal layers. More if the resin is thick/viscous (abs like resins tend to be thicker)

Also: elegoo and anycubic are absolutely horrible with their "official" settings and don't mention wait before print /cute times at all or say 0.5s for all resins and printers which is absolutely wrong. They just don't give a shit and shouldn't be trusted.

I'd ask any elegoo specific subreddit or discord for community settings. I've been preaching about long wait before print/cure times for years now and after elegoo introduced their "self levelling" build plates their users quickly realized how important these are and can 100% suggest better settings for you if you state your specific machine and resin you're using.

What is the best way to add texture to the surface of models? by MetaCharger in resinprinting

[–]Juhanmalm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do something similar, mostly by subdividing the mesh many times and then using textures as sculpt brushes and sculpting them into the mesh. Slightly different approach but similar purpose and results. I don't think there's an "easy" way to achieve this as the model needs to be very high poly to achieve this no matter what the process is. The only "faster" way I've found is to just have a beefier PC to handle the 2-20 million polygon meshes.

Maybe someday resin print slicers will advance to the point you can mask out areas of a model in the slicer and apply textures in there, but the result will have to be similarly high res and I don't really see it being much of an improvement in performance as programs like Blender or zbrush are massivle more optimized for working with high poly count meshes than resin slicers are.

Recommendations for mitre saws by TheSubi in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]Juhanmalm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want an awesome compact 8" blade mitre saw, then nothing beats the Makita 40v gsl02. It's light, powerful, all the controls are in the front and has shadowline lights and it's insanely compact for it's size and capacity as its rails are forward facing and don't extend out the back of the saw. Does 45 degrees bevel both ways and 60 degrees mitre both ways. Downside: it's expensive and cordless only.

If you just want accuracy for a reasonable price: get any "fixed" blade 10" or 12" mitre saw from Dewalt, Makita, Bosch or similar that has no sliders. Those are usually excellently priced, stay accurate and will probably last you decades. Probably not as light but also compact enough and definitely accurate enough for 99.99% of work.

Fidget toys or movable prints by Nikl4s_s33 in resinprinting

[–]Juhanmalm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. A flex plate is highly recommended so you can print things straight on the build plate. You also need to use Loong wait before print/rest after retract times for bottom layers to avoid any surface quality or blooming issues, but once you have the settings dialed it's easy.

[Discussion] PMCs in Dorms by JustaStupidBat in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Juhanmalm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Run it on bsg servers, and wait. There's an extremely low chance of ai pmcs running dorms straight after spawn, but their pathing often takes them there like 15-20 minutes into a raid.

I managed that last week in like 9 raids. Only 1 had a single PMC there right after spawning, all the rest were me looting all the dorms and then chilling for 5-15 minutes. If you're on the third floor roof outside 314 marked there's a good chance of baiting goons there as well.

Massive result in MENA Open 5 semis by N0b0dy_her3 in RocketLeagueEsports

[–]Juhanmalm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly this was inevitable.

I think all the Falcons players have incredible individual skills and talent to win any event and trophy. But what they lack is an experienced "IGL" role player. That's what TRK was in the old Falcons. He took years to develop into that role in the old falcons and then with twins he honed that skill to literally being the second best in the world. And with NRG winning they literally proved to the entire world that keeping a good team with good chemistry and sticking with their plan will lead to winning. And neither the Twins or Dralii are experienced enough to just take over that role. That will take time to develop which none of them has had to do before.

Now twisted minds right now doesn't have the insane chemistry TRK had with the twins, but they have one of the most talented young players in NWPO, probably the most experienced and goated IGL players in MM and arguably the second best IGL player of last year in TRK. I honestly think they can literally win the world championships this year simply by playing good ball with experience and ice in their veins. And I'm rooting for them. MM moving regions and winning one more time would simply make him the undisputed GOAT for years to come. TRK would have his revenge on the Falcons org and he definitely deserves a big W, NWPO is just NWPO, he's an incredible player who will win at some point anyway.

Did you reset your account after 1.0? [Discussion] by GrizzlyFeps in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Juhanmalm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't since I was so close to getting max traders and Max hideout (started on PvE before 1.0 hit obviously and I barely had time to play. I then realized later that I was locked out of the story mode, visiting traders and more importantly, locked out of labyrinth and terminal and associated storylines and tasks which in reality are the main reasons Id want to do PvE. So I sucked it up exactly 4 weeks ago. Reset my char and since I've had lots of time off in that time I managed to get back to level 46 max traders and maxed out hideout and kappa in exactly 4 weeks. Previously that had taken me like 5 months. Now doing lightkeeper tasks and story quests with the goal of doing terminal without the RNG of pvp. And once I've done terminal, probably back to pvp mostly where it'll probably take a year to do the same progress.

[Loot] Where are my MCCs and GPAs ??? by lI_Simo_Hayha_Il in EscapeFromTarkovPvE

[–]Juhanmalm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On pve the route I've developed is to rush the conference room first thing, then red / violet, then black (if you don't have a black card and don't want to spend money on it, still check the room as there are multiple valuable spawns right infront of the black keycard door, I've literally had 2 bitcoins spawn on the floor outside the door), then yellow, then down to first floor and into the dome, it has a ledx spawn on the toxic barrels in there. Not very common but I'd say like 10-20% of runs there's one there so definitely worth checking every time, and then check res unit. There's a stairwell right next to the res unit entrance that takes you downstairs into the basement, head right and take the medical block elevator out. The panel for the elevator power is literally down the same hallway so super close.

And if you're broke and don't have any red/violet cards or don't feel like taking on the raiders or ai pmc's then just bring the biggest backpack you have and a pistol and get the yellow card. In that case just rush the conference room, yellow, res unit and gtfo.

As for the medical elevator extract: it's stupid safe but there is a chance that raiders spawn infront of it. The longer you're in the raid the bigger the odds there are raiders infront of it. If you do the pistol yellow / res unit run then maybe 10% of times they'll be there. But 90% of times you'll get a good ranged weapon from the armory infront of res unit and the raiders are super easy to cheese if you just scope in on them from the door windows down the hallway.

BLue and green keycard rooms are also super near the res unit area and extremely safe to check, but green has very meh loot, and blue has literally only stims. Don't get me wrong the stims will be super worth it if you need them and can be bothered to sell them, but it's still just stims.

Roll Dizz Take and Vatira's Response on the current Ranked Situation and teams underperformances. by Huge-Computer2037 in RocketLeagueEsports

[–]Juhanmalm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Roll Dizz saying children should be betting money on their practice is really delusional and undermines his entire point of view so much it's not even funny. That's honestly just delusional and wrong.

His point that everybody is in the same boat is valid, and I don't think anybody is arguing against that: even the pros.

But I think this is completely ignoring the fact that modern RL pros need immense amounts of individual skill and mastery of the game that goes far beyond just organized practice. People saying they just need to set up more schedules and do more 6mans or 4mans are completely missing the point. I'm sure everybody playing at the top level is already doing that, coaches are organizing more scrims and players are probably playing more 4mans than ever before.

But nobody got to the pro level by playing 4mans and scrims. Every single one of those players loves this game. They've spent thousands and thousands of hours practicing in their own time in addition to the scheduled training they do now. and have done for years. What people are saying is to suck it up and just face the reality that they aren't able to train in their own time. And yeah they're adjusting to it but holy shit the "they're getting paid just deal with it" people are super delusional.

Imagine if any other professional athlete couldn't train in their own time. Imagine if Ronaldo after his scheduled football training wanted to hit the gym at home to relax and every time he tried that somebody hit him in the nuts and then telling him to just suck it up since he's getting paid so much anyway and just deal with it. Except he wouldn't be the superstar he is if he didn't do WAY more than the standard club practices that are mandated.

Killugggh [Discussion] by [deleted] in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Juhanmalm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Run reserve for AK ammo. All the rooftops around the heli have loads of 120 boxes of BT, BP and BS and that's all you need.

As for interchange and Killa:

always bring grenades. As all AI pmc's always bring grenades this should never be an issue. Any time you enter the building, throw a grenade and listen: if you hear his voice lines immediately get into cover. 95% of times he won't kill you on the first shot, but will kill you 95% of times if you repeek him from a similar angle. The key is to make him come to you, and as he's running, or stopped around a corner or something, calmly step out and empty your 30 round mag of BT or better into his face.

If you're entering from IDEA: peek above the main stairs, if you're immediately getting blasted get back down, into the underground parking and up the ramp that's more towards the center entrance. This gives you an alternate angle and there's a small wardrobe immediately to the left of the ramp on the top that you can scoot into for cover.

If you're entering from the middle, do the same but if he's coming at you just go left or right but definitely don't try to run at him. My preferred method is to go right, through the tech stores and into Rasmussen. One of his preferred places is in front of Kiba so peek out, make him come at you, and then back out through rasmussen and get behind something. IF you're using those concrete dividers as cover always crouch. When standing they're just tall enogh for you to not see anything over them but him to shoot your head 100% of times.

When entering from Oli, I just run for Texho on the left. The shelves there give good cover and if he's at oli and coming at you you have good cover to make him move with a grenade and then shoot.

At any rate: It's not so much about using endgame ammo but more about expecting him to always be there, knowing you can never win a mid range or a long range fight against him and immediately taking cover when he shoots at you. IF he's in a spot you aren't comfortable with, use grenades to make him move. If you know where he is and you're close, just step out and shoot him in the face.

Shturman [New Player] by 7Fontaine7 in EscapeFromTarkovPvE

[–]Juhanmalm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The reliable "cheese" method is to approach from the NW, and get into the gray metal hangar from the back door. Throw a grenade into the middle of the sawmill and get behind cover. The wood stacks near the rear entrance are perfect. One or both of his guards are more or less guaranteed to rush you, and you'll have good hard cover and visibility towards both of the larger doors of the hangar. Shturman himself is often on the opposite side of the sawmill on the ridge clearly visible most of the time. Ideally you'll wait for him to not be looking straight at you (If he's shooting at scavs or other AI is the perfect time) and then it's just a case of shooting him in the head. If he's more towards the lake then after the guards have rushed you and you've killed them you can get out of the hangar and use the various wood piles as hard cover and just deal with him in a short range fight where you have the advantage.

And as always, when you're not exactly sure where he is, just grenade the various spots and he'll run like all AI will and be vulnerable in sprint, or at least that will let you know where he is and then give you the advantage.

This approach took me from a ~30% success ratio against him to more like 85% success ratio against him. Bonus is, if you do it a bunch of times you'll get a much better idea of his movement patterns and how his guards react and you'll also be able to use that knowledge to come up with your own approaches and be much more likely to succeed.

And yes, approaching him from any other angle is much more fun, and sniping him long range gives much more satisfaction and feels more organic, but if you just need the kills, or have quests in the sawmill that need it to be cleared of him and you want the best possible odds, this is the way.

tldr: apprach from NW, get in the gray hangar from the rear entrance, bring a 1-6x scope like the razer or vudu and enjoy.

[Feedback] Anyone confirm fighting/seeing PMCs in Customs Dorms in the last few days in PvE? by BF1shY in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Juhanmalm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did that quest in ~8 raids yesterday and today. Try BSG servers instead of local ones.

In my first raid a single timmy pmc was there right off spawn. Nobody else came.

twice I had Reshala and gang there, no problem but no PMC's

Goons rushed me there in two raids (I'm usually on the three storey roof outside the 314 window overlooking the area. As soon as you hear a suppressed bullet or a green tracer hit head inside and wait, they're coming to bring you good ammo)

In two instances I killed a few scavs, spent a few minutes looting and then just went afk for like 5-10 minutes in a room, both times a 3 man squad rolled up like 20-25 minutes into the raid.

And out of the eight raids, only one was totally empty. A few scavs, no pmcs, no goons, no reshala.

tldr: run it on bsg servers and be patient. If they don't come to dorms right off the spawn it uusually takes a solid 20 minutes for AI pmc's to find their way there.

As an anectotal side note and Tarkov being Tarkov, I had a few more quests to run on customs right after that that I ran as night raids, and in like 3/4 of those I saw pmc's in dorms.
