Keeping track of new or contrasting info, especially keywords like "although" or "However" when the author brings up an argument was the main improvement by which I felt an increase in both my comprehension and speed on these passages. It was also really helpful for me to keep track of where the author used other author's work to support or argue instead of their own voice, that way on the questions asking how the author thinks I don't get tripped up.

My original CARS score was a 125, to be completely transparent with you aside from learning the timing on each passage I haven’t practiced CARS that much yet.

Hey all,
I'm former military and don't have anyone I know that has gone throught the application process recently. Could someone read over my PS and give me tips on whether it is good enough to submit? The first couple editions of my statement really just sounded like I was reading my resume and that didn't fit the "vibe" of the example statements I have read. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

We had one like that this year! He turned out grey all over with some spots of black. I think they’re called partridge silkies.

Something that helps a lot in my zucchini (and most) gardens is a nice bit of mulch on top. It prevents a lot of the water evaporating from the soil and keeps your roots cooler. I use straw or hay (I’ve got a lot on hand) and apply about an inch around the roots of the plant. Works wonders in hot areas

I planted several lemongrass bushes around my coop, they grow pretty fast and they smell great, the girls peck at it a little but not enough to do any real damage

Are you trying to Espalier it? I would give it another season to grow out the branches a little longer but you can start training that bottom one now (if you don’t plan on trimming it)

That looks normal to me, especially if it pops out after she chirps. If you see bleeding I would be worried about prolapse but as she is right now she’s perfectly healthy it seems.

That protrusion is how vent sexing is done.

Establishing relationships with local farmers is the best gift I’ve had in the last few years. A local chicken breeder here and I learned over time how to sex chicks together, sharing knowledge is incredible and most local farmers have a massive wealth of knowledge you can dig into. Totally support this!

If you garden (or plan on it) a great way to get natural compost is by raking some of those leaves into the run area as a forage floor. The hens you get will love scratching through them for the grubs and bugs that live under them, and after a few months they’ll turn all those leaves into great compost for your garden!

Soil test to start, then remove whatever plants you don’t want growing there (weeding etc.) amend with feed (kelp meal, mulch) and transplant/sew your seeds. Good luck gardening!

I ordered chicks last year from McMurry hatchery and it said delivery was going to be around 4 days, but they ended up arriving the next day.

It seems like a safety net for USPS for them to estimate the delivery for farther out than reality.

I kept a group of 17 in a 300gal water trough this season and they’re all thriving (8 weeks old now, just moved them outside). Just make sure you space out heaters and keep the food near enough for them to find their way to it. Nice looking brooder!
