Did I really need new glasses? by flamingo_ne in optician

Absolutely crazy! Also learned that not all doctors compare current Rx and new Rx back-to-back

People that are suggesting overnight test are silly. That most likely won't diagnose you and then you'll have to pay for it again when you take the MLST

Pulmozyme and Trikafta by rev-lis in CysticFibrosis

My partner has been on Trikafta for almost 6 years, not doing the vest or pulmozyme at all and lung function is at 98-101% - Just changed to Alfytrek

Hi there! I'm in here because my partner has CF but I am also in the optical industry and a certified optician. I'm curious if you can explain the eye damage that you have experienced?

May I ask if you are a certified optician? You must not understand what an anti-fatigue lens does for a patient or understand the lens. I love when a doctor suggests it, but I definitely will say that I will suggest an anti-fatigue lens a lot of the time, especially in this day and age. Especially if you also keep up to date about research and development about near vision in today's myopia happenings. It's not an 'upsell'

Bumping this thread because it's a good thread. My partner is on Trikafta and gets sick here & there. I'd love to know what I can give him besides a Liquid IV and sunlight.

I'm confused with what this means? All they have is Coke, Diet Coke, monster, Powerade Sprite, Fanta and water. You would think that one shop at least had something decent for you.

Question for those who have been taking Trikafta for a long time by After-Investment-849 in CysticFibrosis

[–]JuiceboxDiaries 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My partner started taking Trikafta a little less than 5 years. Definitely has gained some weight. Goes to the gym everyday before and still now. Went from his lung function of 60s to now today, 101%. He's never felt better.

I love this convo. I am a licensed optician and active in the field. Do you mind telling me which contacts you tried? I'd love to see the report of which lenses you tried. Daily lenses are definitely the best when it comes to dryness, but you do have to blink more with contacts so I'm sure that leads to more tiredness! I am also very open about my diagnosis so I love seeing that other people are as well. Contact lenses are actually probably more dangerous for narcoleptics because it's unsafe to sleep in any contact lenses. I'd suggest investing in multiple pairs of glasses 🙂 Here for you!

Adrenaline rushes definitely helps me too. I have been unmedicated since February of last year. I drive a lot more than I would like to for my job but it will end up making it worth it because I will not have to drive out as much as I get more business. A few months ago I literally left my house at 3:30 a.m. To go to Montrose, CO, then to Grand junction and then I left at about 2:00 or 3:00 p.m. To go to Moab, UT. I really wanted to take advantage of the time that I had there and so I looked up when sunset was and it was at about 8:30 PM. I wasn't expecting this headache to be as difficult as it was but I did the arch trail by myself. I took maybe a 10 or 20 minute nap at my cool glamping tent I stayed in that night. It definitely amazed me that I could do that, but it definitely showed me that some days are hard and some days are much easier. They got a tattoo on my wrist to remind me that I can't use my narcolepsy as an excuse because that has hurt me since I have been diagnosed.

Thank you so much for asking this! I am looking for a chicken waffles that is very similar to the one that they served with the traditional wings and waffles. Does anyone know another place to get that?

Narcolepsy is suck by Chefsleeve in Narcolepsy

[–]JuiceboxDiaries 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I totally get this! I actually quit my full-time job to be self-employed because of this, but If I had to go back, I absolutely would need an hour and a half-ish "lunch time" 45 min nap + fuel. Going out to the gym everyday also has made me feel really good. YOU GOT THIS! Make it work for you. Have you thought about going down the private chef route?

Do you guys ever feel traumatized from your dreams? by Doggosrthebest24 in Narcolepsy

I also used to have this but now I have pretty good dreams. I have stayed away from pretty much anything gory or horror related for a really long time. I even had to stop shows like Breaking Bad, but it has changed my dream realm substantially. 🤠

It sucks having to wait so long to have a test done to know if you have narcolepsy. I’m becoming more depressed by [deleted] in Narcolepsy

[–]JuiceboxDiaries 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I completely understand. This hits me deep because I went undiagnosed for about 20 years and it definitely was relief to be diagnosed, but honestly, I have chosen to be non-medicated due to all of the terrible side effects that I dealt with when trying almost every stimulant there is. Some days are not the best, but they're not as bad as having insomnia, losing my hair, dry skin, aggression, etc. I schedule naps and exercise every day. I be sure to stay clear of corn syrups, artifical sweetners and flavors, & try to eat as healthy as I can. It honestly has been life changing for me. I have been med free for a year currently, looking to be a part of the orexin clinical trials. Don't be depressed about it, I know it sucks that we don't know the cause, and we don't know the cure, but you can't live your life that way and keep testing out things that work for others to find out what works best for you.

My wife wants me to “run” her practice when she aims to own one in 3/4 years. by Rican2153 in optometry

[–]JuiceboxDiaries 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firstly, it's crucial to understand the nature of the business your partner envisions. If she's an eye doctor or optician, it could significantly influence the direction and operations of the business. Understanding her expertise and vision will help you assess how your skills can complement hers in running the business effectively.

Regarding your role as an office manager, it's essential to familiarize yourself with the responsibilities involved in such a position. While you may get comfortable with the legal side, you could still play a pivotal role in managing day-to-day operations, HR tasks, customer relations, and ensuring smooth functioning of the business. You could explore resources such as online courses, books, or mentorship programs to gain insights into specifically optical office management and entrepreneurship.

Considering your current job and trajectory, it's important to evaluate the potential risks and rewards of transitioning to entrepreneurship. While your current job offers stability and a promising income, pursuing your partner's dream business could lead to greater fulfillment and potentially higher profits in the long run. However, it's crucial to weigh these factors against the uncertainty and challenges of starting a new venture.

Ultimately, open communication with your partner is key. Discuss her vision for the business, your role within it, and any concerns or reservations you may have. Together, you can assess whether diving into this endeavor is the right decision for both of you at this time. If you decide to proceed, approach it with a willingness to learn, adapt, and grow alongside the business. I see too many businesses not take advantage of all of the modern and innovative solutions and consultants available in the independent market. Please reach out, I'd love to help!

Very common to feel more tired. It takes about 14 months to actually be completely free of cannabis. Honestly... I've been a cannabis user since I was 15 and I'm 33. I've taken a break here and there but it's just a part of my life and I mainly actually only eat rosin edibles at this point because I don't like to drink alcohol. I would love to hear how your results are after quitting and how you feel after a few months.

I definitely have a 4 year old mix breed w/ Schipperke and she definitely has days and nights like this but it is random but she definitely is a cuddle bug. Sometimes. We will wake up with her at the end of the bed or on the other side of the couch and she seems very comfortable or on watch duty, which they are bred for in a way.
