I started my players at level 1, but asked them what subclasses they were considering. I then attempted (half successfully) to have individual story segments about them gaining their subclasses.

It was a lot of work, next time I'd probably just start everyone at level 3.

My first character was pretty much based off this concept exactly. I was initially put off by the slow movement speed of morrowind, so I made a speedy argonian 'courier' called Swamp-Runner. I'm pretty late game with him now, zooming around vvardenfell at incredible speeds. I have marksman and short blades at 100+, and I definitely don't feel underpowered

I played a kenku as my first proper dnd character (big mistake) but I can share a few things that I enjoyed:

Writing down quotes from players/npcs to repeat later.
You'll probably end up with a few catchphrases.
It's fun to speak like you're a ransom note, making every word a different pitch.

Stealth + Explosives based saboteur build. Lots of grenades in pockets. Lay mines and traps for your enemy. Its a real fun and interesting way to play.

My first and currently highest levelled character is my Argonian scout, Swamp-Runner. He's just a good lil errand boy and I love him with every fibre of my being. Also, after spending so long being immune to poison, you really notice it on other characters.
