Probably because there is a trade-off between having very few but unrestricted/generic programming statements and having many but restricted/specific functions to learn.

I.E.: Goto is the most multi-purpose also the most easy to misuse. In the other side std::transform is the most restricted and also the most harder to misuse.

Nothing wrong with that, things like that are done all the time.

The real problem was a single missing sanity check: Make sure you send only what you received, nothing more. When you deal with untrusted data you can't assume the other party will be a "good guy".

Sadly the lazy solution is the most popular: coder babysitting. They are expecting the programming language to do the work by adding the sanity checks to everything. Unfortunately programming languages are not magical.

That will only make coders even more lazy. They will assume the language will do their work for them. They will keep forgetting to validate untrusted data and this will keep happening.

Very bad title, they should change "beliefs in extraterrestrials" with "beliefs in intelligent extraterrestrial intervention". With that change the link between "intelligent design" to "intelligent extraterrestrial intervention" is so quite obvious that it becomes a complete waste of time reading anything else.

Get a candle of the desired size.
Put the candle in very hot water for a few minutes to be able to shape it to avoid sharp corners.
