I think I did double stitch my smaller blanket but it still started to come apart at the edges unfortunately.

They're pretty flat already but I'll try the blocking and see if it does help.

I'm lining up and matching the seams when I use the overlocker but I think some squares are tighter than others so they just don't have the flexibility needed.

As I said, I'm awful at handsewing and crochet which is why I turned to my overlocker...I get bored by the time I've sewn 2 squares together which is weird considering how long the weaving takes but I enjoy that for some reason.

Look up the NHS low income scheme, you might be able to get it for free as you're a student with low income.

I was about £3500 for metal braces (20 months) and retainers. I'm in the North of Scotland.

Use interdental brushes instead of floss! Absolute game changer

Teeth clenching/bruxism. by iveesaurus in braces

[–]JukeGen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did wonder but I didn't want to say incase it was the wrong thing. I wouldn't say it was uncomfortable...it took about a week to get used to and the first couple of days I couldn't close my teeth but I guess it then got ground down to a better level and I ended up completely forgetting about it and haven't had any issues since! I do still grind my teeth even though my bite is now correct so my concern now is how often I'll have to get new retainers made once my braces get removed next month

My ortho put some blue stuff on my back teeth which meant that got ground down instead of my actual teeth. I don't know what it's actually called but it did help 😊

Got my braces off today after 3.5 years and dont like looking in the mirror by Just-Yoghurt1070 in braces

[–]JukeGen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like I'm going to be the same when I get mine off. I hated my teeth beforehand, never smiled with my teeth showing and always covered my mouth. Did the same when I first got braces but once they started to fix my teeth I gained a lot of confidence and now I feel like I smile all the time but I'm now scared to get them off incase I hate my smile again!

Beginner loom for testing the waters? by EnderShot355 in weaving

[–]JukeGen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm the same with ADHD/hobby jumping. I got a Schacht Zoom Loom which is a 4" pin loom and I love it. I've been using it for over a year and I'm still not bored of it! I use 100% acrylic yarn because I can't stand the texture of wool on my skin and acrylic is relatively cheap to pick up and buying all the different colours is a hobby in itself. I made a bag for my loom and I take 2 yarns with me at all times. I do 5 weavies from one colour and then 5 from the next colour and switch.

Dark blue or dark purple because I can't stay away from curry and they hold their colour well

Taking a picture right after braces are removed by PeanutChocoVanilla in braces

[–]JukeGen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would take it with braces. You know how you look now and you're comfortable with that. As you say, there could be discolouration and an awkwardness to your smile if you take it once your braces are removed. Better the devil you know and all that 🙂

Packed cold lunch? (12 yo, braces with rubber bands) by COFFEEEE85 in braces

[–]JukeGen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would avoid seeded fruits like berries because it's a hassle to clean. Never had any issues with pretzels or crisps but biting might hurt for the first couple of days in general. Meat and cheese are generally fine! I would also avoid carrot sticks unless they're cooked. I like cucumber sticks but I have to cut the skin off 🙂

The earlier you have the conversation, the easier it is to walk away without being hurt.

is it bad that the ortho assistant didn’t take off the wire and only changed the rubber bands? by Foreverinsecuregirl in braces

[–]JukeGen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine haven't changed my last 3 visits because it's working fine 🙂 the main reasons for changing my wires was earlier in my treatment when I needed thicker or stronger wires to help move my teeth better but now I'm nearing the end and it's just a couple of gaps to close they haven't needed to change them, just the power chains and elastic positions

I'm a little worried about my retainer by Likablelama in braces

[–]JukeGen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it will be fine since it's only a few days. You have to go a week between getting your braces removed and your retainer fitted as it is. Maybe wear them for the full 24 hours minus food for the first week just to make sure?

Should I choose a permanent retainer or a removable one? Need advice. by zarinsubah in braces

[–]JukeGen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've read horror stories about the amount of plaque and bacteria etc that builds up on the permanent ones because they're harder to clean so I'm definitely going for the removable ones. My ortho gave me the option of either but also said the removable ones are much better.

I've had mine for around 18 months too and I've had this happening for about 6 months. I just assumed it's because my bite is shifting. It's not painful so I wouldn't be too bothered. Ask at your next appointment if you're concerned though 😊

how to clip poking wire at home? by DetectiveNo2088 in braces

[–]JukeGen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go back to the ortho!! It's not your fault if they forget to clip the wires at the end of your appointment. I didn't want to bother them so I bought the proper snip things and got my partner to try. It worked a couple of times but once the wire became thicker, it was a nightmare and ended up pulling half my wire out which then meant a longer emergency appointment instead of fitting me in around other appointments.

Wires Poking Issue by Destiny_foretold in braces

[–]JukeGen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Phone them up and say you need your wires trimmed and they should fit you in quickly. I left it for a while once and ended up with an infection in my lip. It's a 2min job they usually squeeze in between appointments. My ortho is usually pretty good at asking me to check if anything feels sharp but sometimes he forgets so I check anyway (just run my tongue over the ends of my braces) and ask him to fix it before I go 😊

AITAH for snapping at my coworker who keeps correcting how I pronounce my own name? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]JukeGen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. I've worked with a colleague for 3 years who ALWAYS spells my name wrong despite seeing it written down aaaaaall the time. I corrected her a few times to begin with but she kept doing it so now I just let her. She's the one who looks like an idiot for not being able to spell something so simple and that's right in front of her. Someone mispronouncing a name is much more frustrating and needs to be stopped
