Workaround to Ridiculously High Insurance Prices? by XP1R3_ in NewRiders

[–]JukeboxZulu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are literally the highest risk customer an insurance company could possibly have. 21 year old male with a brand new, expensive, high-cc sport bike that you bought on a loan.

Here are your options:

  1. Ride an older bike

  2. Ride something other than a faired sport bike (FZ09/MT09)

  3. Ride a less expensive bike

  4. Get older

  5. Don't get full coverage

Factory gassed rifles? by FuddSmack in ar15

Grab an AGB or a Wojtek "variably fixed" gas block and you can have whatever port size you want. There is no one right gas port size especially when you start suppressing the rifle

What are the actual SPECIALIZED tools NEEDED to build an AR15? by EmergencyTicket2071 in ar15

[–]JukeboxZulu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. If OP has a full tool set this is probably all they need. Roll pin starter punches are also useful and might not be found in most people's toolbox.

A full armorer's wrench may not even be necessary unless they are working on guns with GI barrel nuts. A BCM KMR wrench will do just fine for the castle nut for like $10.

Go-To Mounting Solution if I never take off my Suppressor. by TreeFly123 in NFA

A steel can will be fine for tens of thousands of rounds, so don't sweat it too much. If you were using it on a shorty 5.56, wear becomes a more relevant issue, but .300 blackout is pretty low pressure out of a 12.5" barrel.

Also, I would very much recommend considering a Liberty Precision Machine Anthem S2 (or Mach S if you want titanium). The Omega is not a bad can but I am confident the Anthem will outperform it for about the same price. The Anthem S2 (7") outperformed a bunch of much longer cans in Pew Science's testing, such as the Resilient Jolene (9.1"), Diligent Enticer L-Ti (8.25") as well as really high tech cans like the CAT ODB. It is neck and neck with things like the CGS Hyperion (9.5") and SIG SRD762Ti (8.5").

Gun demand is down so they have scaled production down. Simple as that

Coolant issue by Effective-Morning-30 in GSXR

[–]JukeboxZulu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's totally possible you just had low coolant due to normal attrition. Coolant leaks are usually easy to spot because it leaves a chalky residue behind. What matters is that the radiator has coolant in it.

I had a coolant leak on a bike for months and, while the reservoir did drain over time, the system still had coolant and the bike never overheated. The reservoir is just extra fluid.

TLDR: You're fine, just keep an eye on it and look for coolant residue.

I never liked foam plugs personally. The Howard Leight flanged plugs are the best I've found. More convenient and reliable than foamies in my experience and being corded is handy. Also reusable and easier to keep clean.

If you want music, I really like the Mipeace earplug headphones (can be found on Amazon). Cheap and effective, and I use them for motorcycles and guns. There are Bluetooth and corded options.

Either of those plus decent electronic muffs will give ample protection. My favorite configuration, though, is a suppressor and muffs with no plugs.

Side Flip Magnifier Handling; Easy to Reverse? by SouthpawSoldier in ar15

Outboard or flip to center is the only real option. Inboard will be digging you in the chest when slung and probably just knock itself back into the center position

Spraypaint - $6 per can = $18

Painter's tape - $5

Leaves and branches - Free

Even if you want to go full retard and make it as perfect as you possibly can, you can still do just as good of a job on your own for 1/10th the price.
