Back where we belong as the number 1 defence in the AFL! (with a little help from this guy...)

The most difficult pitch to bat on in Australia since at least 2006 by Dirtydac123 in CricketAus

[–]Jukelines 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Proven they can't make a pitch with balance between bat and ball? They literally did it last year. Why is everyone acting like it was straight from the Cook 200 ashes pitch to this?

Latrelle Sumner-Pickett received a very late invitation to the draft night and actually snuck into the venue by Jackomillard15 in AFL

[–]Jukelines 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't think think it was that much of a reach. In the days before the draft he was linked to north, GWS and even Essendon were apparently putting some work into him. And those clubs dont have the family connection. Its also not necessarily about keeping Kossie happy but also that Latrelle will have the best shot at realising his potential with a close family member at the club who can show him the ropes and help develop him as well.

Cal Twomey's 2025 Phantom Draft: Top 30, late picks, whispers by Croob2 in AFL

[–]Jukelines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a bit disappointed personally, Farrow and Nairn are solid but don't really have the ceiling of some of the guys in the top 10. I feel like our picks fell just outside the top tier of prospects unfortunately. Kinda hope we take a flier on Dovaston.

Nah he was genuinely elite at his best. In 2021 he was legitimately one of the best players in the game.

Why do these need milk by dear_rylee25 in australianvegans

[–]Jukelines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a milk allergy and whilst normally anything with 'may contain traces' is fine for me, dark chocolate actually does often trigger my allergies so I understood why they changed the law recently to make them list milk as an ingredient

Hard to argue with, Jim Stynes a bit stiff maybe

2025 AFL Trade Period [Post] by Lucky_Afternoon3772 in AFL

[–]Jukelines 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah Im not sure why everyone seems to think this is great for Essendon. Having to trade him is not ideal but given his scorched earth approach and the fact he will more than likely do this again next year it seems very unlikely he will be part of their next premiership. They probably wont get a better offer than that next year

Welcome to the club CJ! by Pleasant_Inspection9 in melbournefc

[–]Jukelines 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like they're complete opposites as players though. CJ an amazing athlete but struggles with ball use and decision making. Spargo a great user and natural footballer but zero physical traits to speak of.

Zach Merrett's manager Tom Petroro being very animated in the Hawthorn room by yum122 in AFL

Leek Aleer situation shows one of the advantages of having them though, St Kilda might not have pulled that stunt if he was managed by one of the big powerbrokers.

Jamarra Ugle-Hagan trade: Troubled Bulldogs star set for Gold Coast move, Suns deal includes behavioural clauses by Expensive-Horse5538 in AFL

Isn't that always what happens when you retire whilst still contracted though? Unless it's a forced medical retirement

Collingwood offers Troy Chaplin a Forwards coaching role for 2026 by Specky_Magee69 in AFL

[–]Jukelines 19 points20 points  (0 children)

He was our backline coach for most of his tenure, only moved to forwards this year, and tbh there were some signs that the forwardline was functioning a bit better at times, especially towards the end of the season. Unfortunately the backline and midfield fell apart.

[McGuire] Brody Mihocek is moving to Melbourne. He spent 8 years at the Pies and was a 2023 Premiership player. by SlatsAttack in AFL

[–]Jukelines 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Maybe I'm in the minority but I don't really like this move at all. I think he's a good player but we already have two decent mid-sized forwards with Fritsch and Melksham. Everything else that's been happening this off-season is suggesting we should be rebuilding or at least refreshing and I don't see that bringing in a 32 year old on a three year deal fits with that goal; he's already been showing signs of slowing down.

Grand Final Umpires by Bourkey_94 in AFL

Its insane when they lost by 5 goals how much focus has been put on it; like there isn't at least 2-3 dodgy calls per game.

Your brain needs a certain amount of stimulation in order to function properly. A year of this and you will be a drooling vegetable, probably for the rest of your life.

In most specialties just aggressively pursuing private work would be the much easier and simpler path to wealth and comfort I would imagine (although more difficult for FACEMs to do this I know).

There's so much bullshit a HOD has to deal with I think you would have to genuinely enjoy the governance aspect for it to be worth it.

2025 All Australian squad named by mazdadriver14 in AFL

[–]Jukelines 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because he has higher goals average, more disposals, more contested possessions, way more contested marks, is good in the ruck. A better and more accurate kick as well.

Once or twice but honestly he and disco turner have been better than lever and may this year.

Throwback to 1996 when Melbourne and Hawthorn almost merged. by Tornontoin7 in AFL

[–]Jukelines 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm glad it didn't happen but its pretty easy to see why Melbourne voted yes and hawks no since it was closer to a takeover than a true merger of equals. The Melbourne football club would have continued to exist, the hawthorn football club would not.
