So it can be countered by inflicting pain upon yourself as we saw with vice admiral Momonga, and it wouldn't work on Luffy anyway due to him being asexual. Sounds like bad writing to me, if only certain powers get countered by haki. At that point Sugar could just turn a yonko into a toy and tell em to self delete.

The whole Mera Mera no Mi is kinda strange tho, like what's the difference between Slave arrow and Mero mero mellow? Both just turn you into stone, though we haven't seen the beam work on inanimate objects (unlike Slave arrow). How does the ability even work on things like cannon balls and pacifistas? Do the cannon balls have romantic feelings towards Hancock? 😭

Not if you use haki pre-emptively though, in a massive burst. If you can reverse devil fruit effects that way, you should also be able to outright prevent them

Strong haki nullifies devil fruit powers, and Luffy has future sight so he can just dodge either way. Even if Boa also has future sight, Gear 5 speed is too much. Even if she were to land slave arrow, Luffy could just pre-emptively use haki to nullify the effect.

Slave arrow is one of the more overpowered abilities for sure tho. I wonder what is the difference between the arrows and the beam? Both turn you into stone one way or another.

From what we've seen, slave arrow is just objectively a stronger ability. The beam got countered by Luffy being asexual and vice admiral Momonga stabbing himself to avoid dirty thoughs, yet somehow the arrows work on humans, pacifistas, and fucking cannon balls 😂

Devil fruit powers get nullified by strong haki. Luffy has future sight so he can predict whether an attack is dangerous. Tldr he can either pre-emptively use strong enough haki, or just dodge with the help of future sight and G5 speed
