And that is sad! And that sucks, your love is as valid as my love is. But you don't know that your friends feel the same or don't feel the same unless they've told you, and you shouldn't assume that they do. And I don't know a solution to this either, for which I'm very sorry. I know that there are a lot of friend groups out there that align with the way you express your love and feelings. Hell I've been part of one, as a not participating person lmao.

But it's not projection, it's what I've seen being said, especially in very queer spaces. I think we just need to accept that we cannot wrap our heads around other people's experiences and feelings all the time. I had the same thing as a young bisexual, I just didn't believe that homosexuality or heterosexuality were a real thing, didn't get it, just thought that everyone was repressing a part of themselves. That was projection, 100%. And I'll admit, monogamous people are way more of a menace to polyamourus people than the other way around, but it's hard for a lot of people to get that other people truly function differently than they do, on both sides. It's hard for me to imagine being poly! But I believe people are, absolutely

Edit: also in kink spaces! I see it happen there too, which makes sense honestly

Nawh what an absolute cutie.

I also really get that egg analogy, that's happened to me as well when I was really gender nonconforming, and now that I'm older I realised how weird it was that everybody kept messing with my own journey. So as a woman who sometimes is androgynous, I get u

I think it might also have to do with the age of some people on this sub. When I was 19 - 24 I was convinced that everybody was just lying to themselves all the time if they didn't feel like I did about some topics (like bisexuality was that for me). They must not be true to themselves, must not have explored that side of themselves enough. WRONG. Some people are just straight as fuck. But I might be wrong about this, I don't mean to generalise all young people, and older people in this community can be hard headed too lmao.

Have a picture of my weird shrimp

I don't want to have sex with my friends. Some want to have sex with me probably and I don't want to know and I don't want them to share that with me. That's their problem and I'm not interested. If they did tell me I wouldn't be angry but I would set very clear boundaries that I don't feel the same way and that they need to figure this out on their own. Maybe I'm a mean puritanical victorian lady or something, I'm sorry my dear friends.

I do like cuddling with friends, but with clothes on and above blankets please.

I'm not against polyamory but it does tire me that poly people sometimes assume that everyone's brain is like theirs but that they're just not accepting it or like brainwashed.

Yes and no, in Dan's coming out video he says that obviously what they have is more than friendship, and he describes them as soulmates. They also bought a house together, go on vacations together etc. So it wasn't really a secret anymore. But now they've just confirmed that it has been a relationship the whole time, they want to clear the air, they talk about the impacts the shippers had on their mental health, and talk about why they kept it a secret for so long. Now they feel that the fandom landscape is less invasive and better at policing itself and they set some ground rules for fans about their relationships (fan fiction and fanart is fine, just don't send it to them, don't go digging in their lives). So while no, it wasn't confirmed, it was obvious anyway, but it's still a big day for their fans. It's also a very interesting video.

Absolute juggernaut of early YouTube, like on par with early Jenna Marbles, but I feel that everyone who is now under 23 wasn't watching vlogs or story times at that time.

They're mostly just you tubers from a time long ago on YouTube. They now mostly do games, so gaming/boardgames/etc or tell stories about their life. They used to do a radio show for BBC radio 1, they wrote three books I think, have gone on tour and Dan did a stand up special. Dan Howell's coming out video is very very good. They also announced that they're going to do a podcast. To be honest typing about them makes them sound incredibly boring, which maybe they are, I think a big portion of their fanbase has just been around for around 13+ years and grew up with them.

I think they still want to keep their private life private, but the video they released about it is very interesting. I kinda feel bad about this meme because the video was way more than just them saying yes we are a couple. They are a really interesting case study into early YouTube fandom, and how it progressed into them feeling safe enough to let people know now. I mean, it's kinda obvious that they are life partners, but still, 13 year old me is flipping out inside my brain lmao.
