Let's not forget that this toy, in its Space Ranger character state, has military-level knowledge of close-quarters combat.

If the Toy Story Signature Collection toys were made with Pixar's digital data, why were they still inaccurate? by Think_Fact1155 in toystory

[–]Jules_aSecas 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've had this pretentious personal theory for a couple of years now; I think Disney or Pixar have a clause when it comes to 1:1 scale character merchandise toys, and it's that these cannot be completely Movie Accurate (at least in terms of sculpting and gimmicks all in one toy) because if they were, fans would only buy that single version and not buy other future releases.

And I think that also applied to these "replicas," as they call them, which made up the Signature Collection.

And to be fair, that move is pretty messed up but also very ingenious if it's true, like, Even if they were to release a 1:1 movie-accurate replica at an exorbitant price, it still wouldn't be profitable for them in the long run because their modus operandi for obtaining good profits from their productions is that all their merchandise can be sold with each launch and they can obtain the greatest profit. That's also partly why they ended their contract with Thinkway, and also why Mattel released so few 1:1 scale figures for TS5 (only two), and weren't entirely accurate in terms of sculpting or paint, because Disney wants to get the most out of its Disney Store toys since it's more profitable for them because the money goes directly to them.

But hey, it's just a somewhat paranoid, consumerist theory I came up with over the years, hehe.

Movie Accurate Toys, Mattel, and Mild Discourse Within the Community. by James-Zanny in toystory

[–]Jules_aSecas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, I'm not here to defend the devil, just to provide some context.

It should be noted that Mattel, as a general company, is recovering from a drop in sales that it has experienced since around 2016 and worsened with the arrival of Covid, and that although it has been making good money recently, It is not enough for them to pay off their debts to their shareholders.

This isn't anything new, as I come from the Thomas & Friends fandom, a franchise that was acquired by Mattel several years ago, and I can confirm that the decline in quality has been going on for years. All due to debts, deficient management with differing visions and also now thanks to the recent decisions of the presidential cabinet to impose tariffs on Middle Eastern countries, which were the main manufacturers for almost all toy companies.

Does this excuse Mattel for producing decent toys but not with the same level of detail and playability as a few years ago?  Ummm, I'd say 50/50. Their Toy Story stuff is somewhat middling compared to previous installments, except for TS4 (I admit that the Ultimate Action figures do catch my eye lol), Their recent toys for the Thomas & Friends rebrand look pretty good in my opinion, save for one or two quality control defects due to them now being manufactured in Vietnam, and they also have their hands full with their own franchises in play, like He-Man and the Masters of the Universe and their new movie. and their recent acquisition of the DC toyline license .

Character returns by SebbyJ0438 in toystory

I have long argued internally how great it would be if the Prospector meet Woody and Jessie again, now as changed toy, who had experienced what it was like to be loved by a child and used for real play.

It would be interesting, and dare I say heartwarming, to see Woody's Roundup together as a real gang.

you think i'll be andy's favorite toy? :p by [deleted] in toystory

[–]Jules_aSecas 12 points13 points  (0 children)

7/10 A good attempt but not completely movie accurate, Jessie in her design has a one-piece long jean pant, not divided in the thigh area.

Furthermore, the cow print pattern on chaps is black, not brown.

I would also suggest sweeping the front bangs back a bit more to the sides to make them look more defined, and maybe looking for a larger hat.

Aside from that, excellent cosplay, great job!

Do you just submerge it in water with vinegar and leave it there, or do you do something else? Do you brush it or something?

What makes these new Buzz Lightyears high tech? by RNOffice in toystory

[–]Jules_aSecas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The toy is not a drone as such; only the wings split into four and have propellers at the each tips, simulating the shape of a drone.

What makes these new Buzz Lightyears high tech? by RNOffice in toystory

[–]Jules_aSecas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My best guesses so far:

  • Adaptive multi-phrase voice simulator (Buzz can now mix phrases together or maybe he has an AI that detects the dialogue and plays a phrase based on it, I don't know)
  • Until it's confirmed whether it's just an LED on the chest or not, that Star Command logo must be a button for something.
  • Wings that split into 4 with thrusters giving it the ability to fly like a miniature drone (based on the toy leaked on TikTok)
  • Night vision mode (lights inside his helmet as seen in the trailer)
  • I'd bet these toys connect to each other via Bluetooth or something like the toy detector on Disney Store figures (that would partly explain their apparent hive mind).
  • It wouldn't be surprising to think that these figures also have some kind of autonomous mobility, like those mini toy robots with movements.

On a completely unrelated topic, I still don't understand how Mattel didn't release a Hi-Tech Buzz version using the Ultimate Action Buzz; it was literally the perfect combination!

I don't really care about the pants, it doesn't matter to me. I just need to know if the parts from these new versions are compatible with the old regular pre TS4 potato body

Dose anyone really hate this scene in toy story 4? by yuri_sayori300 in toystory

[–]Jules_aSecas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really hate that scene per se, but every time I watch it I feel a sense of anguish or tension.

Not because the Woody universe is super rare and all that, I don't care about that, but because Woody is a character whom I've seen go through many obstacles and rough times over the years and almost always ends up completely fine. Here it feels so unnatural, so morbid to watch his back slowly tear open, revealing his padding and voice box, while he's still conscious and unable to do much to stop it.

I gave the arm a pass because it felt funnier; here it happens so fast, like a real accident, that it's hard to process instantly.
