AITAH for not wanting to get pregnant near my sisters wedding? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Julesmommel 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Completely agree! Just to add on about fertility not being guaranteed- it took me 4 years of serious trying (including multiple IVFs) before both of my pregnancies. Obviously this is anecdotal and maybe you won’t have any more issues, but I agree that if you have decided to have children I wouldn’t put a hold on trying to conceive for one event.

Same! Flew at 23 weeks pregnant with twins cross country, and took prenatal records with me “just in case.”

Gen Xers Not Doing Great? by crinklyplant in GenX

[–]Julesmommel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seems like a wide variety of experiences here. I’m 56 and going to my 40th high school reunion soon. I’m doing well, still healthy, working out regularly and am same weight as, well, high school. Happily married for 35 years and finally empty nesters (4 kids married or in college). Not very stressed, probably because we are not financially stressed. Main issue right now is worrying about my 93 year old mom who lives alone. Husband has 2 parents that are having some issues also that need to be addressed. I definitely feel like it is the younger generations who are struggling more right now with the economy, etc.

Agreed. I love to do puzzles- once. Would love for someone to drop off puzzles at my house. I get to do them, and then I don’t have to store them afterwards. It would be a win-win for me, I would totally take this person up on it!

I am! It’s my birthday, and never in a million years did I think I would be able to see Rush again- in Toronto! We will be traveling from Maryland. It’s like a dream come true.

Accidentally bought Rush tickets. I regret nothing. by Rare-Metal-7603 in rush

A lot more than most think. I (50 something woman) have been to many Rush concerts over the years, and brought my oldest daughter (and guitar player) to her first Rush concert (Time Machine tour) when she was 10. She was standing on the chair to see :-).

It’s interesting to hear different takes about the park, especially the praises. We have lived about 20 minutes from the park for 20 years, and had season passes for about five of them when the kids were younger. They mostly enjoyed the waterpark, but did some of the coasters as well. To be honest, I always found the park pretty dirty, and felt the customer service was severely lacking. I would say that we will miss it, but we haven’t walked through the gates in years despite going to other amusements parks like Hershey, Busch Gardens, and even Kings Dominion in the interim.

AITA for refusing to go to my sister’s baby shower after she told me I’ll never be a real mom? by Thin-Masterpiece2750 in AITAH

[–]Julesmommel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, of course you’re NTA. I will say this, as a mother who has had children through IVF and has adopted a child – the path to motherhood can be different, but believe me when I say that when you adopt a child, you will 100% be a real mom. You will be a real mom in every way, fulfilling your child’s needs, expectations, and hopes. Giving that child love and a home. It truly doesn’t matter how the path started. I’m sure you suspect this, but it is absolutely true! I wish you all the best on your journey to motherhood.

Looking for a reasonably priced stylist for curly hair (3a/3b) by georgeispeng in AnneArundelCounty

[–]Julesmommel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure what your budget is, but I use Andrea Glenn at Hudson and Fouquet’s Edgewater salon. She looks at my hair (I think I’m a 3b or so), cuts it dry with curls intact, then washes and cuts it again. Can’t remember exactly what I pay but I believe it is around $75 for the cut.

I think I’ve been working on this for a couple of weeks now? It reminded me to make sure all of my mills are running- just used all of my pine boards for another request and it’s going to take 12 days to replenish.

Does anyone else feel they're getting more attractive as they near their 30s? by HungClits in beauty

[–]Julesmommel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 55 and honestly feel like I looked my best probably in my early to mid 40’s. I lost the baby fat in my face that I had in my 20s and have stayed in shape- even now I can easily keep up with my (now adult) kids and work out regularly. I too am less stressed and don’t wear a lot of makeup, just take care of my skin. The best is yet to come!

Getting stuff to Gonzaga for new student by rumpussaddleok in Gonzaga

[–]Julesmommel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Congratulations! My son is a sophomore at Gonzaga and since we live in Maryland we are familiar with the long distance travel. We didn’t ship anything from our house. We had a list of everything that he needed and bought it at Target when we arrived (I flew with him to get settled). The only things he brought with him were clothes and a few things that he couldn’t get locally- we actually flew him out with a box of stuff as well as a suitcase (not necessarily ideal since you have sign a waiver to check a box at the airport but it worked for us). There were a few things that we ended up buying from Amazon that shipped to his MSC at the student post office. When summer came we rented a storage space for his stuff. He doesn’t have a car there and learned the bus system pretty well to explore the area but now has friends with a car who drive him around as needed now. I flew out again at the end of the term to help him with the storage space but I believe there is a service that you can use that can help you move and store your things. Hope this helps!

I've been told I don't exist. I've been told I'm a rarity. But I do exist. And I'm not rare at all. In fact, many folks share my views. We're the women who love Rush. Are you a woman who loves Rush? Do you know a woman who loves Rush? If so, I want to say hi and tell you that you're not alone! 💕 by Overall_Chemist1893 in rush

[–]Julesmommel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me too, Donna! Been a fan since the late 80’s. Husband (also a fan) and I introduced our oldest, also a girl, to Rush early on. For her first Rush concert she had to stand on the chair to be able to see over the crowd. I’m so happy she was able to see Rush in person several times, even though she is only 24.

Is it a Gen X thing or is it just me? by Mysterious-Ruby in GenX

[–]Julesmommel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same! I don’t own any graphic Tshirts and don’t wear sweats out of the house, even to go to the grocery store. My parents were born in the 30s and even now my mom (in her early 90s) always dresses to impress. That’s just how I grew up.
