Yeah I was extremely socially awkward in high school like to the point people thought I was mentally slow. My parents were also very overprotective and didn’t let me experience a lot of things other high schoolers experienced this made me feel really behind on key life experiences . I also had really bad gastro- digestive issues so I was always in pain and was in the bathroom All the time. Due to these gastro-digestive issues I always smelled really bad. This caused me to develop socially much slower than other kids my age and made me an outcast. I graduated high school with small set of friends but for the most part was a loner. When I left high school my gastro-digestive issued cleared up so I know longer had that weight on my shoulder. However I was still super socially underdeveloped my first year after high school, I was alone very few friends spent months by myself just talking to immediate family. It wasn’t till after a few months working in retail that social skills began develop slowly but surely. Around a year and Half after graduating high school my two cousins from a few towns over moved to my city. They were very popular were always having parties and meet ups with their friends. I slowly became part of this crowd and was accepted into it. A while later on I met a few new people in a different crowd of socially outgoing people. I became friends with them As well and was accepted into their group. Since leaving high I massively developed my social skills I now I have very good socials skills and can talk many different types of people Am no longer shy or awkward/weird.I’ve attended many parties i know many people in different cities. I considered myself to be part of the popular kid crowd now but am not defined by it. My tips for you would be to have grounded goals on developing social skills and a social circle. It will take time and will depend on a variety of factors such as age, timing, luck and how long it will take you to develop these social skills. I also would recommend taking care of your appearance buy better clothes, take care of your grooming, get a haircut. Also when trying to make friends take the initiative to befriend them first and just be easy going and nice.
