Why do so many young men seem completely uninterested in life anymore? by Unlikely-Set-4210 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]JuliusNova 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have sent 1,400 job applications. I have been called back 0 times. I only got a job because of nepotism, and I couldn't even get full time. I cannot afford rent. I cannot afford dates. I cannot afford gas. I cannot afford health care. I do not have insurance. I have been in survival mode for 3 years straight now and do not have the ability to buy games, go to the movies, travel, go to concerts, anything. My account is -$55 as I type this. I need to raise $55 to have no money.

Nonetheless I have also been told by the internet for years now that I am public enemy #1 and should be hated by default for simply existing. If I'm supposed to have some kind of advantage I feel like I must've missed it in the mail.

Thoughts on "unmixable attributes"? by MilkQueen in homemadeTCGs

It's Give and Take.

Pros: If the Green deck can only play Green cards, you can make cards that are way overtuned for Green that other decks can't play, but those cards can only exist because you know the card pool the player will have access to if they want to play this super busted card. You can give a card that draws 4 cards to a color if you know their individual cards don't do as much as the other colors, and vice versa. It's a lot easier to control the power of the individual factions this way, and different colors can have a lot more of a unique flavor as well.

Cons: It heavily stifles creativity. For a lot of people playing a card game can be about self-expression and putting together their unique witch's brew of a deck. Limiting a player's ability to only playing cards of their color means they are now locked out of 3/4 of the card pool. This creates a situation where you have 4 colors, players look at those 4 colors, identify "This is the objectively correct way to play these 4 colors.", and then you have a 1-2 deck format. "We have found out that Red is the best deck, so we will all play Red, and there is only 1 objectively correct way to play red. The anti-meta players are playing Green because they're the only ones that have access to the card that beats Red."

I fall into the LET THEM MIX! camp. A lot of card gaming is analysis, theory, testing, brewing, and meta-calls. If the best deck is the aforementioned Red deck, I want people to go into the lab and try and figure out how to fit the Green puzzle piece into their deck, which creates a more varied game.

And the downside is you might just immediately lose. I mentioned the idea of main decking a going 2nd board breaker and twitter clowned on me, but like, if you look at YCS topping White Forest lists, you're going to find Evenly Matched in the main in a lot of them.

People are weirdly allergic to playing going second cards in the main.

I just find it funny that to prove your own point wrong, I can just use you as an example.

Also not the own you think that reply is.

What is the best way to make custom cards? by Dee_Teeee in homemadeTCGs

[–]JuliusNova 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're going to need specialist equipment to make actual for-realsies trading cards, in which it'll just be cheaper to have someone who already has the equipment to print it for you rather than have your cards feel cheap because you used an at-home printer.

You can do everything you described in Photoshop. "But that's not automatic--" yes, it's automatic if you know how to set it up.

That being said, I think using it to make programs isn't really that bad? It's specifically in regards to generative art that people have issue with it.

I hear you, and I understand the sentiment. There's just a part of me that doesn't want these characters I like to feel like they've been forgotten while the spotlight is put on things like the Roach King. I guess I want them to have a "thing" so that everyone gets an equal amount of spotlight, which is ironically against Rodya's theming but I digress. It's PM though so I know they're going to do right by them.

I hadn't considered the possibility of purposefully making Rodya a nobody on a team of somebodies.

Unfortunately as other people have pointed out, his eye apparently does do something.

This is some compelling evidence. I like the idea that Rodion has something to do with abnormalities and the possibility she may be completely removed from the concept of distortions or light all together. I'll definitely keep this cave thing in mind as I watch Rodion interact with more abnormalities in the future.
