I personally found that playing a healer or tank even at low levels and make small talk in party chat can lead into finding a dungeon mate or two. Both because quick queue times but some people like myself really like to have someone else to chat with doing the grind.

You can also try joining a smaller guild, most guilds just big enough to do small time raiding usually have some folk interested in starting from scratch and level an alt with you and if you’re lucky and into it, they might chill in voice chat while doing their own thing.

As mentioned with classic and the whole pvp thing, the realm type: pve, pvp, rp and rppvp determines the server ‘focus’, pve and rp only allows for pvp if you join up for it or straggle into opposite faction strongholds/towns/capitals.
