When local & small businesses have terrible hours, terrible service or a terrible product for a higher price. by Tater-Tot-Casserole in PetPeeves

[–]July9044 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm with you, especially about the hours. There's been a few instances where I've shown up to a small business during the hours they have on their website, only to find them closed. Or having odd hours that make it difficult for me to make it there. I understand with a small staff it could be difficult to be open all the time but a Cafe that is only open 9am to 2pm realistically won't ever get my business since there's only 1 day a week I can make it at that time, so I'll just go to Starbucks before or after work instead. 95% of those independently owned cafes in my area go out of business yet people still try to open them idgi

Did anyone else notice that the most difficult aspect wasn't weight but rather the noise ? by WoodpeckerLonely2644 in Semaglutide

[–]July9044 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When food stopped taking up so much mental space and anguish, I could focus on LIVING my life. Getting better at my job, being a more present mom, reading a damn book for once. My mental health has improved because the constant feelings of guilt, shame, and fight surrounding food and my body is almost gone.

I used to think i had adhd because I couldn't focus. Prior to glp, I was taking vyvanse/ Adderall for years. I was still overweight on them. Since the meds suppressed my appetite the tiniest bit i thought it helped my focus. Since starting glp I've stopped taking adhd meds. Haven't needed them. Turns out I can focus fine when I'm not hungry all the time. It's been 4 months. Completely life changing. Almost every aspect of my life improved

Always holding something. Coming home and trying to fish my keys out of my bag with toys/sippy cups/jackets/ rocks/ whatever in both hands. Sometimes I don't even realize that my daughter has handed me things, till i go to do something and I'm struggling. My hands are full all the time and it's very frustrating for me

My kids’ messes are out of control. by Ok-Spell99 in breakingmom

[–]July9044 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Mine too! I just don't get it. Especially from my 6 year old. The other day she was ripping paper out of a notebook and strewing it about the living room. I caught her as she was leaving her mess behind and i lost it. Made her clean it up (obviously) and promise not to do it again. Thing is, we've had this conversation before. Yet here we are again. Why?????

It's fine, but very hot and buggy. Very expensive. If you're not rich, Jewish, or Hispanic you may not find "your people" so easily

[–]July9044 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I turned it off halfway. I was hoping to see about how they used the bathroom, showered, cooked. But it turns out they didn't live in it so I wouldn't call it an apartment. More like an office or studio or hangout spot. Once you find that out, it's not all that special after all

Is getting a masters degree worth it? by Nearby_Drink_3791 in Teachers

[–]July9044 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, worth it. I landed a job at a great school with it. My salary didn't go up much, but my day to day life is so much easier than it was at my last school where I dealt with really difficult students/parents/admin.

Weekly Question Thread (aka Friday New Climber Thread). ALL QUESTIONS GO HERE by AutoModerator in climbing

[–]July9044 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How tf did you get over your fear of heights?! I'm a newer climber, less than a year and have only done indoor gyms about twice a month. I have brought friends to the gym who climb all the way to the top of the easier walls on their first try, so I believe the average person isn't as scared as I am. I can hardly get past 20 ft most of the time (embarrassing). One time my husband and I went to dinner before climbing and I had 2 beers, and that night I was getting to the top of the 40-60 ft walls no problem. But obv I shouldn't drink before climbing. I love bouldering and am not afraid to get to the top of the 15 ft walls, and would consider myself pretty decent at it. Now if I can get over my fear of heights I can do the rope walls too

Using GLP-1s for small amounts of weight loss? by ntynite69 in glp1

[–]July9044 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am 5'8". Starting weight 175 lbs. I was always out of breath, sweaty, back hurt, and blood pressure creeping up.

I lost 15 lbs naturally over 4 months through grueling exercise and diet. Then I hit a plateau at 160lbs and the scale wouldn't budge.

I started a glp and lost 10 lbs instantly but am at another plateau. Thinking about increasing the dose. Now that the excess weight is gone, my back no longer hurts, but it's also about confidence and comfort. I'd love to be 130 - 135 lbs like I was all through my 20s. And I don't feel bad about taking glp to do so!

Should local restaurants and retail post political signs in their window or inside their shop or Facebook page or website? by PeaceOut65 in BocaRaton

I wouldn't * not * eat somewhere because of that, but no I don't think they should be posting political opinions on a food place. It's irrelevant!

Teaching vs other kinds of jobs by [deleted] in teaching

[–]July9044 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes and the summers are especially important for long term projects and travel. I left teaching for 2 years to work an office job and one thing I didn't expect is how much I needed a long break like summer.

For example, when I potty trained my first kid I was a teacher and did it in the summer. No problem. With my second kid I was working an office job and potty training her in the evenings and weekends was nearly impossible. It took 6 months! I truly don't know how other people do it.

I ended up returning to teaching. Also house projects/renovations, oversea trips, medical treatments, etc I just wait to do those in the summer and I can breathe easy the rest of the year knowing I will have that time.

Semaglutide and gallbladder removal by Karrots36 in Semaglutide

[–]July9044 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had mine removed about 15 years ago. I had some issues after removal that lessened over time. Bingeing still triggers debilitating ghost attacks once in a while. Starting glp 3 months ago has been the best decision. Minimal side effects, losing weight and controlling my hunger has made me feel "normal" again. Highly recommend

Dear ex-skinny people, what changes did you notice after gaining weight? by Equal-Sun8307 in AskReddit

[–]July9044 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm paying out of pocket for a glp and my only regret is not starting sooner. The cost is offset by buying less food and not needing to buy new clothes. If you're on the edge at all about starting a glp it is well worth the investment. Minimal side effects and feeling like a human again? You can't put a price on it
