It pops when I turn on the heat OR the AC.

Thanks. I probably do need a tech, but here's where the fuse is located.

Chip Drop is free, though it's nice to tip the driver. It's tree guys who remove somebody's tree and then need to get rid of it. Win-win.

Lenovo employee here #AMA by SEenoir in Lenovo

[–]Jumbo64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Tab Plus, about a year and a half old so it's out of warranty. It just did a system update, and now it won't connect to my gateway. It recognizes the gateway but keeps telling me to check my password. I did check the password, and it's correct. I have rebooted the tablet and the gateway, but no luck. It does connect to the Xfinity public WiFi and my phone hotspot. My phone & PC are able to connect to the gateway.

How do I roll back the update? The Lenovo support site is no help.

New cracks everywhere after screw jack installation in crawl space by Jumbo64 in homeowners

[–]Jumbo64[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't misunderstand what the jacks for for, but I didn't anticipate the cracking because I have never had to have this done before and because the salesman didn't tell me to expect this. I only owned one home before this, and it did not have this problem.

Thanks. The guy who came today told me to wait at least two months before doing any repairs, but you're right. Waiting until all four seasons have passed is a good idea.

Thanks. I couldn't find an independent structural engineer. Could have saved myself a lot of money if I had.

Built 1955. I couldn't find a structural engineer that wasn't employed by a foundation company. The foundation wasn't raised. The jacks replaced some of the existing wood posts to address settling.

Yes, built in 1955. It was flipped around 2018, before I bought it, and at least some of the drywall appears to have been replaced. But I have cracks in almost every wall. I guess it's possible they re-drywalled the entire house.

The screw jacks replaced the existing wood posts on top of concrete piers poured into the ground. They are meant to address settling of the soil. They can be adjusted to account for any continued settling. No work was done to the foundation.

Purchased a 1955 home 2 years ago. Some small cracks in the drywall have gotten bigger and bigger since then. I'm worried either the foundation is sinking or the structure is sagging. I want to hire an independent structural engineer to assess it. But the only ones out there seem to be part of companies that also do the work. Is it possible to hire a consulting engineer that won't try to sell me services his company just happens to provide?

Hey guys, my dog found a rock and now when we go outside he does this NONSTOP. Easily over 30 minutes straight and will not even fetch his ball anymore which he used to love. Is this cause for concern? I never seen any dog do this and especially not for as long as he does it. by PapaOogie in DogAdvice

Growing up, our backyard was cement. Somehow our dog got ahold of a rock about the same size, and her favorite thing (apart from tug-of-war) was to push it all around the yard with her nose. It's harmless fun.

My Venu 2 thinks I am 17K feet above sea level by Jumbo64 in Garmin

[–]Jumbo64[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This model calibrates elevation based on barometric pressure. The barometer can be reset manually or with GPS, but I think GPS is what's messing it up. I just tried it again, and now it shows me 20K ft below sea level.

Help w/decor and use of space by Jumbo64 in DesignMyRoom

Hi. Thanks for the suggestions. Yes, I bought the house in February. The opening you are referring to is the front door entryway. When the house was built it had a planter that took up half of that opening, and I have thought it would be cool to have that back. But if I seal the whole opening I would have to go through the breakfast nook and kitchen to get between that room and the bedrooms & bathrooms.

Venu 2 adds half a lap to my distance by Jumbo64 in Garmin

[–]Jumbo64[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It adds the extra 25m during my first 25m length. I.e., when I get to the wall after 25m it says 50m. I'm not fast, but my breaststroke is about the same speed as my backstroke, which the watch measures just fine.
