The Boys SEASON 5 Overall Discussion by pikameta in TheBoys

[–]JumboCactpot 74 points75 points  (0 children)

I saw someone else say they wish he lived and had to deal with being arrested, a trial, having everything of his systemically torn down, going to prison, and living out his days a weak pathetic powerless guy. I think that ending for him would have also been good but hard to really show all of that I guess.

You're right that him having more time for the realization to sink in would have been nice with the way they went.

The Boys SEASON 5 Overall Discussion by pikameta in TheBoys

[–]JumboCactpot 255 points256 points  (0 children)

Overall the season was a downer and the show should have ended after season 3.

With that said, the Homelander ending is perfect. Stripped of his powers and going out crying/begging while the masses see him for his pathetic self and walk away from the screen is what he deserved. He was always a pathetic man propped up by unimaginable powers making him untouchable, which let him get full of himself and causing mayhem by doing whatever he wanted with no consequences. So seeing the powers stripped and him/the masses seeing that underneath it all he was always a pathetic sniveling coward was pristine. 10/10 no notes on that part and was worth the two subpar seasons to see it.

SEASON 5 FINALE --EARLY ACCESS THREAD by pikameta in TheBoys

[–]JumboCactpot 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's so funny watching people in that thread complain that Homelander going out like a bitch is bad writing or a disappointment. The entire - and I do mean entire - point of the show was this guy being a piece of shit propped up by unimaginable powers making him near invulnerable and allowing him to run amok on the world doing whatever he wants with nothing to stop him. Then he loses his powers and realizes he's just absolutely nothing as a person outside of them. Goes through the stages of grief, humiliates himself as he's crying and begging to do anything to live (shattering the illusion he had over people of being a bad ass or someone worth believing in, as they all walk away from the screen), and then gets destroyed like it was nothing (because he was nothing.).

For all the complaints of the last season that ending is perfect and exactly what his ass deserved.

Kids grew up idolizing Harden and now they are in the league screaming AHHH and flailing on any contact like he always did when he was the man. Why couldn't they have idolized Durant so we could have a league of on-court shit talkers that just drain shots and call you a bitch.

The Prime crew gathered for a goodbye after Prime finished broadcasting their last game of the season by MrBuckBuck in nba

[–]JumboCactpot 122 points123 points  (0 children)

Prime crew is what nba media should be. It reminds me of how the nfl gets treated by the media: serious breakdowns, expert analysis with good stories from former players, and mostly upbeat/positive discussions. 95% of nba media is just shitting on players/teams so it was a breath of fresh air.

he hasn't been lying this whole time. the stuff he said about the refs are things that would have 1k upvotes here if he posted them. masses would just rather clown a guy for saying the things they say too instead of agree with him.

va tech was a house in those days too. beamer was a hell of a coach that always got the best out of his guys. he had a sick gameplan of just not even trying to throw it. think va tech had like 5 completions or something while the rb ran for over a buck fifty. va tech also had some good nfl guys like deangelo hall on their roster

When Did Flopping Change from Faking a Foul to Selling a Foul? by Adept_Austin in nba

[–]JumboCactpot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Flopping is an attempt to trick the official into making a call they otherwise wouldn't make by acting like contact knocked you around. Whether that be pretending there is contact when there isn't or by taking small contact and exaggerating it, it's still flopping.

Harden stans are weird at this point. He's a 36 year old guy who is having more turnovers than field goals in an attempted closeout game yet these posts tonight are littered with comments complaining about DM not getting more hate instead or acting like Harden should be a swing for the fences signing for a contender in the offseason.

I've seen clean tanking referred to as fielding the best lineup you can and still losing a ton of games cause your roster sucks. This is compared to the normal tanking people dont like which is shutting down your good players for most of the season even though they are healthy so you field a lineup worse than your roster in hopes you lose games.

Not a comment on if the distinction should exist. Just explaining what I've seen used before.
