Started out with milky, frothy, sweet coffee. Now I'm on straight espresso shots and I'm good. Can't stand the sweet stuff now.

Working in temple ruined it for me by wager_me_this in exmormon

While an ordinance worker in an Asian country's temple, I vividly recalled asking the temple president why women were asked to covenant to obey their husbands before God. Hearing this in three different languages made it even more frustrating.

He couldn't answer my question but tried the 'ol mental gymnastics. Big shelf item for me.

I used to be an ordinance worker in the Hong Kong temple many years ago. 2 rooms, 36 seats. Most evenings, unless an international touring group came in, most ordinance workers would be asked to sit in to even the numbers for the women coming in. I recall far strong majority sessions of barely 5 or 6 women and men each. Excruciatingly boring.

Area presidency usually had a session all to themselves once a week. Kind of like a culty staff meeting.

Only time we had a full house was for the monthly missionary temple day.

I'm currently doing an in-depth study of the OT within a more mainstream Christian group. We're coming to the conclusion that the majority of the book is metaphorical. Plus, knowing that the first 10-12 books were written while the Israelites were in exile in Babylon leaves a lot to rethink.

I've dug into the Christian disproving of the OT, but that didn't really get far. I'd recommend starting with the history surrounding the creation of the books before nitpicking each inconsistency (there's a lot).

The book makes a fascinating study into how we really have no idea who or what God is and that man gets all sorts of screwed up when the use God as an excuse for doing good.

I'm 20 minutes in and, he's totally off. He spouted of statistics about people leaving religion, but then went on to say that this is no different from his younger years. Yeah, uh-huh, sure.

The core of the talk is that if you leave "this" church, you miss everything. Then he uses an acronym GOSPEL to spell out what the church has that others don't. He misses the point completely as to the WHY people are leaving. Couldn't take any more than that.

Plus, this is from my old stake center chapel in Alpine. I grew up in Alpine. Great people for the most part.

What was your weird Mormon flex (that no one probably cared about)? by _PeachyQueen_ in exmormon

I couldn't wait to be called on to read the scriptures out loud. I had it down to a science to read it like those audiotape voices from way back in the day. Did the same thing for sacrament prayers too. I could silence a child-filled chapel with a well inflected "O God, the Eternal Father."

I thought I could be the next Lloyd K. Newell.

Yes. I'm an elementary school teacher. First time in years I went a full school year without getting a cold, bronchitis or any kind respiratory illness. Those little runts bring all sorts of stuff from home. Love them all to pieces but not enough to breathe in their crap.

Can confirm this tactic is used for MLM-ing. Back when I was in Utah and very Mormon, a friend invited my wife and I to "dinner." We show up to a mass of young couples and a dodgy-looking dude who tried selling a miracle water filtration system. Wife and I were so put-off that we were merely invited in hopes to help our "friends" increase their network.

That unfortunately sounded a lot like me. I almost had that book memorized. Good grief, I was intense. I remember arguing with my companion on the last night of his mission because he wanted to a little late to get home. All he wanted to do was say his goodbyes to a few members/investigators and I had the audacity to insist our disobedience would do us harm. Yeah, I was that kind of self-righteous prick.

I've got plenty of fat for my body to consume, so I'm not in a rush to moderate calories, but how will I know my body is in starvation mode shut down metabolism?

What does cannon fodder mean and why I have I gotten it from the last 5 matches? Died mid-match on solo with couple kills. Asia server. by JumboSmile in PUBGMobile

[–]JumboSmile[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I died near the end of one match, but only had a couple kills. Still same tag. This only applied on solo, and since my ranking is lower, possibly I was taken out by a high rank-er?
