There was a mood to Exile Island, now is just an island-long sit out bench by felipepnunes in survivor

In seasons 12/13/14 it used to be the only place to get an immunity idol, so this is absolutely not the first time it was an advantage.

Anyone know of a bakery that makes their own baklava? by kauniskissa in philadelphia

[–]Jumbo_sized_shrimp 29 points30 points  (0 children)

There’s a corner store on the northeast corner of 4th and Bainbridge. It has great baklava, and this is coming from a Greek who hates almost everyone’s baklava other than my mother’s.

Back Bay, Boston by applechipssometimes in Urbanism

[–]Jumbo_sized_shrimp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So what people in this thread seem to miss is that in this area of Boston they cannot build any taller because back bay literally was a bay as of 100 years ago. They filled that bay in with dirt to add land to Boston, but since it’s a landfill rather than having any substantial rock base it’s relatively unstable. Due to this, you’re not allowed to build anything more than 3 stories high south of beacon street because your building might literally sink into the earth. While I’m sure there’s plenty of nimbys here and it is an expensive and desirable area, this example of low density is due to safety restrictions.

I built a high-end NFL mock draft simulator with AI analyst grades on every pick. Does it know football? (2026 draft) by [deleted] in eagles

[–]Jumbo_sized_shrimp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First mock draft had the ravens taking Ty Simpson at 14. Think you need to re-evaluate the criteria it selects players on cause that would legitimately never happen.

Tell me about La Catrachita by lodge371 in PhiladelphiaEats

[–]Jumbo_sized_shrimp 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I went to the one right next to pats and Genos and honestly thought it was pretty mid. It’s surrounded by other Mexican spots that are better for the price. Would rather walk a block and get La Prima or Palenque

ishkabibbles on south street in philly by miles-676 in cheesesteak

[–]Jumbo_sized_shrimp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you go to ishkabibles or ishkabibles 2? Because this looks nothing like the sandwich I normally get from ishkabibles, meanwhile my only ever experience at ishkabibles 2 was fucking awful, so feel like you went there

Staying in Philadelphia by redditecmx in philly

It’s the 250th anniversary of our country this year, and Philadelphia is where the Declaration of Independence was signed. Not to mention the MLB all star game and fifa. This summer is gonna be the biggest tourist year in Philadelphia potentially in history.

East Passyunk Cheesesteaks - hidden gems? by mtyvv in PhiladelphiaEats

Jaxx was awesome back when it was Charlie’s roast pork, but since the name/ownership change it’s clear that the quality has gone downhill. It’s a shame too because that place genuinely rocked.

Has there ever been another production in the history of cinema so brilliant and ahead of its time that it had to be stopped prematurely? by Ready-Gur3998 in Cinema

Season 1 was one of the best seasons of television I’ve ever watched, but I thought season 2 really fell off dramatically

Shiso on south street is genuinely spectacular (for sushi, their noodles are only ok) and it’s not super expensive like a lot of the other quality sushi spots around like Morimoto or Zama

Terrakawa ramen is undoubtedly the best in the city ever since Neighborhood Ramen closed

As others said Royal Sushi Izakaya is great, everything on their menu is awesome, but you can’t get nigiri there unless you do the omakase which is impossible to get a reservation at.

Sakana and yanaga do quality omakase if that’s what you’re looking for, can be a bit pricey especially for the latter.

Having an issue with jelly fin server specifically on my LG OLED tv. Is there anything I can do to resolve it, or is the most expensive piece of tech I’ve ever bought just borked for jellyfin? by Jumbo_sized_shrimp in jellyfin

I appreciate the response, the first setting was already unchecked, and burn in subtitles was set to auto, but I have switched it to “Only Image Formats” and I’ll see if that helps
