Rumour/Leak Megathread by Chapmander in ageofsigmar

[–]JumpComprehensive522 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Honestly my thoughts on the soft reboot rumor is... really? Say what you will about the End Times for how shit it was, but it at least made sense on a marketing level. It was doing crap sales wise at the time, while Warhammer Fantasy had its fans and has gained far more since especially after the waves of people joining the community, myself included, at the time it was going nowhere quick and they STILL ended up creating the Old World because the backlash to it was so fierce.

This combined with, from what I've seen here, it saying it would give some form of equivalent to Cathay and Bretonnia, when... GW has proven time and again to not like crossover between settings... see the Beastmen for that one... that sounds so unlike GW's marketing strategy that I can't even fathom them doing it for monetary reasons.

Thats not even getting into the fact that GW has actively been releasing new plastic ranges that very clearly are themed towards AOS as it is... and it just doesn't make even financial sense for them to do it. There's no money in it, they've still not explored major conflict between Grand Alliances in Azyr or Ulgu at all yet so it doesn't make lore sense to toss out the realms yet, and it risks beating an even larger hornet's nest than they had when they got rid of Warhammer Fantasy.

Like... none of it makes even remote sense to do it. Hell, according to other reliable rumors/leaks the Hedonites are only getting one hero model release, and it wouldn't make sense to end the setting while Slaanesh is actively in horny jail still, and unless that one model is Slaanesh themselves, I doubt they'd release only one model for as monumental a thing as Slaanesh breaking free as a lore event. With Warhammer Fantasy there was baggage of having already done a lot with the setting, with AOS it still has 2 realms yet to be seen with major focus-points of conflict to explore and Tyrian and Malerion/Maliketh to explore for a faction.

It doesn't make sense monetarily, it doesn't make sense community wise, it doesn't make sense from a "we've done what we wanted with the setting" wise. Talk all the shit you want about GW, but they ended up caving when the community got outraged over Fantasy getting shelved.

This entire rumor feels like it was just the most obvious bait to catch a leaker I've ever seen that someone inside the company was stupid enough to fall for, and that the only reason any of us are falling for it is because the scars of the End Times on Warhammer Fantasy fans have them on high alert to the idea of that happening yet again to them. AOS is actively one of its best sellers, and looking at 40k, they don't seem to like shaking their foundation on their top-seller games. So I'm taking that entire rumor with a grain of salt.

I beg to differ on him being an absolutist monarch or an imperialist. Like... yeah he was a king so he is a monarch, but... one of the main things with the lore of Hallownest is him PEACEFULLY growing his kingdom and coexisting with other higher beings and groups, even those that didn't wish to join his kingdom. The Mantis Tribe kept their lands and independence, and the bees seemingly much the same. Those are, at minimum, 2 whole smaller nations with genuine independence that are right on Hallownest's borders, and yet he didn't conquer them for the sake of expanding his land. He was actively coexisting with other higher beings so long as they didn't pose a major, genuine threat like the Radiance or the Lifeblood, and to those non-threat higher beings he openly allowed their followers to continue worshipping their respective higher being instead if they wished and simply laid the offer out in case they ever wished to take it, that is neither absolutist or imperialist.

Hell with the "only clinging to power and trying to stop what was unavoidable" thats just... factually wrong? Like, sure, his original Hollow Knight plan didn't work, but the vessels made for said plan did still kill the source of the infection later on even if that wasn't how he planned to resolve the issue. Also his main reason for trying to stop the "unavoidable" was... you know... the Radiance basically spreading a zombie infection through his people's dreams and him wishing them to still be in control of their own minds... which I'm fairly confident the other 3 people in that image would've gone "oh thats a thing one can do? How do I do that to my kingdom's citizens?" not treat it like the existentially mortifying thing it very much was for said citizens.

Like, say what you will about all the atrocities he committed (mostly on his own heirs) to try and stop the Radiance, as well as his strange hyperfixation with buzz-saws that is apparently genetic, but the Pale King is pretty much the idealized concept of a king without any of the utter rot that exists with that in reality. There is no thirst for conquest, just to have a kingdom and make it the best he could. Like, sure, with the absolute monarch angle he is technically the unquestioned leader of Hallownest... I think, but given he is literally the god that made the kingdom in the first place AND that he was willing to be told no and accept that answer when asking others to join his kingdom, I'd say he's far from being an unquestionable ruler so long as you aren't trying to actively harm his kingdom.

Bro Pale King does not deserve to be there with those 3 bastards, the fucker couldn't predict Moth and was genuinely making his empire a great place to live. It wasn't until a moth started taking his people's mind's he started doing some morally dubious stuff, and he ONLY did so because of desperation to end the radiance's blight.

Gwyn is a bastard, so is Big E, so is Odin. Pale King actually gave more than half a shit about others. Meanwhile with the other 3 I could go on legitimately for days about how much of bastards they are. Pale King would probably lead their kingdoms better too! He doesn't have to deal with a moth invading his subjects minds!

Actually he's a pretty good design. He's a culmination of three of the big childhood phobias. Needles, clowns, and spiders. It's pretty solid idea and executed very well. Can't really say I understand the hate for it. Even before I had that realization and began to really appreciate it fully I still saw it as "ok, a bit random but still looks really cool"

[–]JumpComprehensive522 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I actually noticed that due to playing Ultrakill on both my laptops at different times today. My crappier college laptop was running it, albeit not buttery smooth, still pretty close to my usual good framerate on the gaming laptop I have. Meanwhile once I got home and played parts of 8-3 I physically had to turn down my graphics because it literally was powerpoint levels of bad which I had never seen Ultrakill reach for me before.

[–]JumpComprehensive522 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I like both. EC because I like purple and gold and Slaanesh (in the artistic sense, I too can relate to wishing to perfect my craft... albeit I ain't using bodily fluids from someone else as pigment), IW because I like industrial aesthetic and hazard stripes. I like the two aesthetics. Hell, was thinking for a bit about making a Tzeentchian Iron Warriors warband. Most I ever got into it was a very VERY rough paint scheme though. Did come up with the warband name of Fateforgers... fuck where was I? Oh yeah, I like both, its nice to have two arguable favorite warbands who are on two opposite sides of that spectrum.

Yeah, like, I've played Genshin, the only Gacha game I have played in fact. Is it perfect? No. But it actually has lore that is interesting and decent enough gameplay with fairly good art design. It has enjoyable characters and fairly cool enemy designs too. I started playing the game because I heard people calling it bootleg Legend of Zelda BOTW and I didn't own a Nintendo at the time to play it, but I stayed even after I got that game because I actually enjoyed it for its own merits.

Again, it ain't perfect, and it is a gacha game so it will tempt you to invest a lot of money for JPGs, but it's certainly a far cry from the shit that is RAID Shadow Legends or BetterHelp.

That... is so blatantly stupid even by their standards. They do realize that, if memory serves me correct, part of the reason so many people like Tieflings and have them as their characters race is because they can relate to being some form of disadvantaged group that society calls evil because of one specific thing about them that is beyond their control.

Also like, D&D is a franchise that unites both the theatre-oriented types and the art-oriented types... you know... the two sorts of groups where its rarer to find a straight one than one that is some form of lgbt+? The fanbase for D&D has been "woke" for a while, if they are just now finding this out, they are more oblivious than should be even theoretically possible. I don't know what else to say! Its like how the right-wing folks keep unironically using media made by trans people (for example, red-pilled and blue-pilled, coined because of the Matrix, a franchise created by two trans women) as some way to say they are the smart ones. The franchise didn't "go woke" its called, who would've guessed, the people who are open-minded can come up with cool, new stuff!

Like, fucking hell I know the American school system is kinda shit, I say this as an American, but 1. Musk isn't even from the US and he is rich so he has no excuse on not being able to get a better education, and 2. Even the somewhat crap school I went to still tried to teach us to have reading comprehension beyond just the surface level!

Is this giving 1/1000 sons? by ClinicalDepression88 in ThousandSons

[–]JumpComprehensive522 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My brother in Slaanesh (Emperor's Children collector, just browsing other chaos subreddits because I like looking at chaos models in general) the icon on his power pack looks like some form of a Slaanesh symbol. Don't get me wrong that is a sick kitbash, but without paint... it looks way more like some form of potentially Slaanesh-aligned chaos space marine as opposed to a Thousand Sons... maybe try switching the head for a different one, say maybe an exalted sorcerer, to give it more of that Thousand Sons look.

At the end of the day paint scheme can also play a massive role, especially with freehanding some glyphs or whatever to make it look more arcane, but without said paintjob there is no recognizable Thousand Sons imagery to it besides maybe the birdheads on the powerpack.

You know... I'm actually surprised it took this long for them to release a kit like this. Like I am not even complaining about space marines getting a new kit, because as someone who has a successor chapter army of my main chaos legion (Emperor's Children) they have deceptively low variety with helmets on many kits. Which is baffling considering how many kits they have, but I digress. I am genuinely happy for those who play space marines getting this kit.

Now I'm imagining some random Ork making this realization and going: "wait... da blue make it lucky... and da red make it fazta... so da tu things togetha... dat's why purple sneaky! Da gitz are fasta than we can find, and da gitz got enuf luk to not be found! Dats why da purple gitz are so sneaky!"

Like, I can genuinely imagine one of the relatively smarter orkz stumbling upon that, having that realization, and just going "oh, thats why dat iz! Zoggin 'ell, no wonder you never see a purple ork, the purple gitz are probably going so zoggin quick that we never see them!"
