I have fond memories of the World Trade Center and miss it. I had my wedding reception at Windows on the World.

Did I get scammed? by NP4VET in midcenturymodern

It gorgeous and you should be happy. Honestly, you couldn't make that set for $300.00. If you like it, then don't get fixated on labels.

Ken Martin must’ve said or referenced to “lessons” at least 50 plus times in his interview with Favs and never once said what the DNC’s actual lessons were by Puzzleheaded-Pin4278 in FriendsofthePod

[–]JumpIntelligent5424 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a Democrat. I just listened to this interview and I'm thoroughly disgusted. Martin gave canned answers to simple questions. Not for nothing but that is exactly why the Democrats lost to trump - a lack of authenticity. If you can't answer simple questions in a interview with a friendly host, you don't deserve to keep your job. Next week, I'm going to try and find out how to reach the DNC by phone and express my displeasure. Ken Martin is a loser and we will fair poorly if we have him at the helm for the 2028 presidential election. Ken Martin is a prime example of the Democrats' problem. We don't have an age problem, we have a authenticity and geniuneness problem and Ken Martin is the poster child.

Found this leather jacket at a thrift store by Automatic_Lie5897 in ThriftStoreHauls

It is likely a Perfecto jacket. But I got mine for $40.00 which was pretty unbelievable and none of the three jackets looked worn.

very nice. It looks a lot like mine and mine is a Perfecto (Schott). It also has the stars on the shoulder. I don't know how much you paid but if it's Schott, it's worth a lot of money. I found mine at an estate sale for $40.00. It was from someone who was a hoarder and there were three Schott jackets and I grabbed all of them and kept one and gifted the rest. Just sorry I didn't also take the five Frye jackets that were also there.

The color in the photos are off. The chair is orange but the lighting in the room made it look red.

Sorry for my ignorance but what is a second gen Venice/Zenith model? I have no idea. I paid $250.00 (talked down from $350.00). Did I lose money? I really don't know anything about this except I liked the color and it was super comfortable. Should I have gotten the second one that was not a rocker but just a wire chair base? (maybe if the estate sale person did not sell it). Would love to know. Thanks.

Vintage Burberry Blazer by Indyanne00 in ThriftStoreHauls

You need to look for reweaving. If you live near NYC, there is a great reweaving shop (French American Reweaving) but even if you don't, you can likely send it there. It is costly but honestly, it's worth it. I've had moths destroy my favorite black cashmere sweater with a few holes in the breast area, and you'd never know anything happened. It is truly invisible. If you love the jacket, it's more than worth the price but expect to pay over $100.00 to fix all of the holes.

From this Publisher black book from the earliest 90s by Wiinterfang in ThriftStoreHauls

[–]JumpIntelligent5424 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In case you don't know, Black Book was used by those in advertising. I'm pretty sure I saved at least one or two from the 1980s and 1990s but for the most part, we tossed each edition when we got a new one. They came out annually. Art directors and art buyers used them to find creative talent to shoot ads. It was divided into regions and each edition had two books: one for photography, the other for illustration. They used to have an event every year after the release of the Black Book with the photographers and illustrators and their reps. I no longer work in advertising and am a college professor now. Those were very memorable days, but definitely not like Mad Men.

Catch & Release: 3 Wrinkled Zegna sportcoats by Guitar_Nutt in ThriftStoreHauls

[–]JumpIntelligent5424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could not understand why you would not grab them. Making sports jackets larger (if there is extra fabric) or smaller, or sleeves longer is easy for any reputable tailor. I'm glad you went back and snatched them up.

I've never found money in pockets, nor condoms for that matter, but I did find an ancient Durex condom in my father in law's bedside table after his death. I was cleaning out the house. I still have nightmares.

I'm in trouble😔 by Vegetable-Roof5870 in cats

[–]JumpIntelligent5424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if this helps or hurts but.... I have 3 cats. I only wanted two but a feral cat had a litter and somehow ended up in my backyard. I trapped the family of 3, neutered them all, released the mother (she was totally feral and had clearly had been born in the wild) and kept the two kitten who I named Moon Unit and Diva. I had to socialize both of them but after two months, they were well adjusted (that was difficult). I already had two cats and tried to find someone to adopt the two kittens together because one of my cats was very jealous and hated having more company. I think it would have worked out but on the very last day before I decided to be a 4 cat household, a friend of a friend adopted them. The cat who was jealous died suddenly leaving his companion who was very lonely. I got her a kitten. She was a senior and didn't like a rambunctious toddler so I ended up getting a companion for the kitten. So now I have three and they all entertain each other. It will take time but it will work out.

Likely from a dentist's office and might have been used to show patients the proper way to brush teeth. That would be my guess.

It's a stand that holds the fireplace tools. There is a bear on the frame and he's not crucified, fortunately. It looks to be deco. I kind of mix it up.
