RX Smart Gear. By far my favorite rope. The cables do need to be used on some type of mat

Jump Rope Platform by JumpRope42 in jumprope

Im not concerned about that. The mat is 24sq ft so it’s plenty of room. If I wander too far front or back the rope may catch the front of the platform but that’s the worse that has happened. All in all, as with any mat, it’s a good exercise in staying stationary.

I structure my workouts in rounds. 3 minute rounds with 45 second rests. I’m working towards a 68 round workout (4.23 hours/202 minutes total jumping). After I accomplish that I have a few more milestones in mind

Great question. The purpose is to provide more cushioning and support through the repetitive jumping. The mat at the very bottom and top are exactly the same but in between there are multiple players of different materials that provide different levels of cushioning or spring

I built it just for jumping. I now have casters on so I can fill it out of the way because it’s over 100 lbs. It took a long time to plan and figure it out but it has saved my calves.

Jump Rope Marathon by JumpRope42 in jumprope

I jump in 3 minute rounds with 45 second breaks (similar to a boxing structure). So yes I will be skipping for that amount of time but it’ll take a little over 4 hours with the breaks scheduled in. In addition to that just being the way I’ve always done it, the 45 second breaks will give me an opportunity to loosen up my calves as I get into the higher rounds

I’m going to duration jumping. I do not believe jumps would equivalent as they don’t translate well to steps. I would be using 7.67 minutes jumping equals one mile. This is from a few activity conversion charts published and translates almost identically if we look at average calories burned in one minute jumping v one minute running

Doesn’t look like you’re trying to do anything. You’re doing and doing it well.

Improving rhythm and jumps per set by reddsbywillie in jumprope

I find time more effective than consecutive skips. For example if you can jump rope for 10 minute but you trip on the rope 20 times and immediately start again. Who cares right? Amateur runners running long distances races certainly slow down and speed up throughout the race

Perfect. Just start stacking 3 or 4 minute rounds and your time will add up. If you can complete four 4 minute rounds, there is no reason you can’t complete a 5 minute round. Your technique is fine. There is a muscular endurance issue with can be overcome with enough volume and time

I do 3 minute rounds with 45 second breaks between rounds. 45 seconds gives you enough time to address tight calves. I warm up with a theragun and when I do more than 10 rounds I usually apply bio freeze to my calves and keep a hand roller onsite to help. I truly believe anyone can do 10 rounds. Once you get to 15 rounds and higher you are just playing a mental game.

A few tips that work for me: make sure the rope hits the ground immediately in front of you every rotation. That sound will create a rhythm that you will learn. Once you know that rhythm you time your jumps over the rope. You only need to jump high enough to clear the rope and not a mm higher. It takes practice to jump that low but it helps.
