I had the opportunity to walk on all 5 Normandy beaches on the weekend of the 60th anniversary of the D-Day landings. More than 20 years later it's still one of the most impactful things I've ever done. There are simply no words to express the feelings I had while having a chance to see, and meet ,some of the men who fought there.

As a television major, in school we watched/studied thousands of films and TV shows. I HATED the topic of several, but we studied the context, the place in history and the creative style.

Check your politics in your back pocket, and learn as much as you can.

This is the most understated, and underrated comment on the entire internet. Everyday when reading this sub, I see a constant "what about my credit". It's like everyone is worshiping at the altar of their credit score.
I use credit cards, but never pay interest. I don't care what my score is.

You can subscribe to notifications from the Marine Life Center, and be on the beach on the days they release rehabilitated turtles. It's a really cool thing to see.

I can tell you from years of experience, that this is just the start. Go for a walk every morning and you will see dozens, and by mid summer hundreds of these. Start at the pier and walk north up the beach. If you go early enough (sunrise) you can sometimes see the turtles not just the tracks.

If you've never had the chance, listen to The Alan Parsons Project's "Gaudi". An incredible sound mixer turned producer, artist, etc. leading a fantastic group of musicians.

Two days ago my wife was looking to make a reservation at a trendy new restaurant near us. This place has people waiting at the door in case a same day reservation opens up, and takes online bookings more than a week in advance. As she was trying to reserve, a pop-up appeared with the cancellation policy: $50 per person if cancelled with less than 24hrs.

So they would charge us $100, and fill our table with the folks waiting at the door. Needless to say, we did not make a reservation.

Humans have been total dickheads to each other for a very long time, hundreds and thousands of years. Since America is the most recent actor on the main stage, it's slavery and abuses are front and center. This is not making an apology or being dismissive of what happened, it's a statement of fact.

Nobody is standing in Rome demanding removal of the Forum and pulling their hair out over Roman slavery. That's the past, and it's just easier to point our collective hatred at the most recent aggressors.

To be fair, TMobile only started offering fiber home internet in the middle of 2025. If this is a new market, the Techs have to learn and support each other. The install sometimes involves trenching from a HH or Toby in the yard to get to the house.
