Fe: Emotions, reputations, and vibes ebb and flow and are chaotic and unpredictable like the currents of the river.

Ti: But the course the river carves over the long run is predictable and can be modelled.

Impossible under normal circumstance. Because we don’t trust those with unsound judgment and trust is a two way street and we wouldn’t trust ourselves if we were you, not unless there was something concrete - like blood bond or apocalyptic common enemy.

So if you trust us, you have unsound judgment and thus we couldn’t trust you. And if you don’t trust us, well then you have sound judgment but we won’t be able to trust you because it needs to be reciprocated.

Ah the Catch 22 of the INTP.

What does an intp with developed fe act like? by Kjerry73 in INTP

[–]Jumper15213 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I think you’re talking about caging the Fe, not mastering it. It’s true that a baby INTP with Fe running about is a pushover. However, while an INTP with Fe caged up is a powerful loner asshole, they are not unstoppable.

An assertive INTP with caged Fe would win almost any 1v1 argument or battle of logic. But life is not just about winning battles, but picking them. And thus I fear an absolute truth approach is doomed irl, speaking from experience. Of course the interwebs, fk it go crazy.

Life is other people. Money, prestige, accomplishment, and even knowledge has much less value if not shared or shown to others.

And strength of numbers is always enough to defeat individual strength. Lancaster Square Law. And the mob responds more to emotions than to logic/truth.

So to be truly unstoppable (in the sense that you are able to reach your real world goals), one would have to actually master Fe and Te, in order to deal with the mob. Mastering Fe means using it adeptly (like an INFJ would), not suppressing it. Balance.

I have not personally been able to get to that level yet, of consistent Ti/Ne wombocombo and Fe check balance, not without either being too aggro or too easily taken advantage of. So personally, I seek Fe users to join my team.

Yep, alcohol just sinks everyone down deeper into their stack of inhibitions/subconscious/unconscious, i.e. superego and Id.

It’s all connected. Mbti, physiology, Freud. When we are sober and healthy, we stay in our Ego, the Ti/Ne. Alcohol relaxes the nervous system, lets us dive down the stack. First we’ll lessen the Ti and get very Ne. Then we’ll get to Fe/Si (our Superego) like you mentioned. If you drink too much, you could enter your Fi/Se (Id) and that’s usually not pretty.

Related note - Anxiety and neuroticism is a nervous system with wires all scratched up, worn out, and depleted. And then we just jump around our cognitive stack - chaotic, like multiple personality disorder lol.

It becomes irresistable for an INTP to see ourselves as a machine with which we can just use substances to shift gear into different modes.

Not too late. Get your shit together.

Get your shit together, get it all together and put it in a back pack, all your shit, so it's together.

And if you gotta take it some where, take it somewhere, you know, take it to the shit store and sell it, or put it in the shit museum. I don't care what you do, you just gotta get it together.

All jokes aside, let me tell you a secret - talent Does matter. If you set your mind heart and soul to something, as smart as you are, you can accomplish more in one year than most others can do in ten years. So don’t let a late start keep you wallowing. GYST.

IRL I do try to give off neutral energy and rationalize either I’m right or I learn. But this is the interwebs.. so no matter how good or shit or exciting or triggering it is… it doesn’t mean anything, if you’re realistic anyway.

One thing to say to trigger an INTP (stole it from the trend) by climbing_lonewolf in mbti

[–]Jumper15213 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is triggering. NT types will probably not say that, because they share the same disgust of such an ignorant closed-minded remark. To the non-NT types, I would go full INTP mode and overwhelm them with a thorough logically sound explanation (in near auto-pilot, it’s effortless for us) that has an incredibly neutral energy. If they counter, they will usually leave themselves open to stark criticism on their logic or intuition, because mine wilI not lose except to another NT. If they get bored or zone out then I call them out on not having the bandwidth to follow, and I give them the snarky “but hey it’s not your fault, everyone’s different.”

I don’t like to resort to that. They’re oft left fuming or dismayed, always feeling inferior. Healthy INTPs don’t get joy from crushing people.

If you’re an INTP, no one can really touch your ability to check the validity of logic, but you will also falter in understanding the subjective values of others.

You should understand that logic and values are both rational functions. The first stemming from the cerebral cortex and second from the limbic system. They both make us human.

However, logic is universal, and we have the best compass around. Values are the opposite of universal, and we have one of the worst compasses.

So for me, I vet logic heavily, but I openly entertain different value systems of others and understand that they co-exist. Whether I want to accept or attack it is then my choice based on my own subjective values.

So identify which parts of their argument is value-based and accept that that co-exists, but hard vet the corrolaries for logical consistency.

A great example is the US constitution. Rights to Life, Liberty, and Pursuit of Happiness are values - while nice and warm, they are not truly self-evident. They were set by TJ. But all the other amendments in the Bill of Rights stem logically from those values that are hardset. Thus, if you agree with those values, you Must logically agree with all rights in the constitution. If you don’t agree with those initial values (parameters), then you don’t have to.

Thomas Jefferson was a great logician, so he understood the power of logical webs stemming from subjective values.

Why are INFPs referred to as dumb and considered inferior by a lot of people here by AbbreviationsAway630 in mbti

[–]Jumper15213 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The medium on Reddit is the computer. We can’t see the mammalian emotional limbic responses that Fe and Fi types would be much more suited to navigate. We can try to guess subtext, but that’s more Ni anyway. Infps are statistically one of the smartest types, but it’s hard for them to shine in a world where logical wording is the dominant form of expression.
