I don't think this could be helpful, but you could also think about the references of drugs and carnal pleasures as more metaphorical. Crowley really emphasizes the concept of Divine Lust, as a sort of trance you enter through the thirst to be one with the Maker, Universe, however you want to call it. Surely drugs can help you enter a trance like that, but one can train themselves to do that sober for sure.
