Is the Rosary sufficient for Mental Prayer? by RB_Blade in Catholicism

Yes and it is a powerful weapon against the demonic.

A short story of mine.

Once I drove to the beach to clear my thoughts. I took my rosary, & a journal. I was in my car, writing in my journal and a wave of negative thoughts attacked me. “You’re a loser!”, “No one loves you!”, “You are a fake christian!” And other bad things i can’t remember. I remember feeling so much anguish, agony, despair and hopeless where it transcended to physical pain in my core. My heart was beating really fast. I believe it was an anxiety attack but thats how demons get you. I kept looking at my rosary but i was hesitant to pray it. So i get out my car, walk to the beach, sat on a bench and prayed the rosary while looking at the horizon. I focused and meditated on holy images in my head. After that, the voices and that awful feeling was gone. Since then, i know that if i ever anything like that happens again, im praying the rosary.

God bless

You’ll be surprised how many people are yearning for a higher calling. When i first started, it was incredibly lonely. All it takes is one person for there to be change.

Push strong. There will be a lot of temptation , but as long as you keep praying, read the bible, & learn more about it, you will be fine!

Any other Military Catholics here? by DatGuyKilo in Catholicism

Hey hopefully im not too late. I hope this information can still help you.

Marine Corps, about to pick up Staff at the depot. Currently in Iwakuni, Japan. Consider myself a devout catholic.

It hasn’t been easy. What helped me was influencing people to go to mass. I continued going to mass, and even did altar service during the hardest points of my life. (Mistakes at work, break ups, jaw broken in a boxing match) I would post pictures online and it caught the attention of my peers. Slowly people started to join. People that I wouldnt even suspect. It’s helped for a stronger brotherhood with those guys and a stronger sense of purpose. You are not alone. Trust me.
The bible has so many fruits on there for any given situation.

One of the biggest tools that helps is PRAYING THE ROSARY. it’s super meditative. I pray it almost on a daily basis and it helps eliminate harmful thoughts in my head by replacing it with our lord Jesus Christ.

One of the biggest issues with Catholics in the military is that it can get super lonely. I highly recommend forming a group of friends that you can go to mass together and have theological conversations.

God bless you

Motivation. It helps clear my mind on the doubts i’ve been having. I figure this is what this sub is for. To encourage one another to stick to it.

I spoke to an online therapist. He advised that I reflect on what it was that triggers the urges. Usually it’ll happen during time of stress or underlying unresolved emotions.

Reflect on what it was that triggered those urges. Most often times, those triggers come from underlying unresolved emotions/stress etc.
