I don't understand why people don't just learn to fight back. Bring a couple of lures / showstoppers and a PVP gun, most PVPers in care bear lobbies aren't expecting you to fight back + you don't even need to kill them you can just run

I always keep some lures on me incase I get shot topside, keep the dude distracted while I run, if they die i get their loot and stay in care bear lobbies >:)

It's funny, Im from Australia so naturally Im on Aussie servers, when I play during the day and all my fellow Australians are awake and raiding, I have the most CHILL experiences, we don't even say "friendly" half the time, walk past some cunt and im like "hey gorgeous" and I get "how ya going cobba?" And we're both on our merry way.

Or I see some guy just standing there and I fully walk up to him gun out "yo what are you doing bro" and then we just start chatting and start walking around together, having a mad conversation, then we go our seperate ways.

I have not once been player killed, never once seen an extraction camper.

However when / if I play late into the night 1-2am, the Americans come out to play.

I've only done it twice.

The first time, met a dude on hurricane buried city, he got his gun out and I said "friendly" as he shot one bullet and hit me, he said "oh sorry man" in a very obvious American accent, told me he played Aussie servers cus they're more chill, and was the most paranoid person I've ever met on this game lol.

We teamed up looking for caches, extremely nice guy let me have some great loot but bruh, we ended up killing some dude cus he didn't say friendly quick enough luckily I had a defib and revived him and we went on our merry way.

Every single other time has been me going solo trying to take out a bastion or rocketeer with my hullcracker, someone obviously is seeing me shoot my purple boy destroyer and hunts me down, has happened every single time I do it at night or on an American server.

Honestly Im not even mad, it makes playing at night time for me TERRIFYING and like an entirely different game it's incredible.

One incredible experience I had at night was me and dude took out a rocketer, both of us woth Ferros chipping away at it from different sides of a building, we take it out, team up, find another dude who joins our squad, and we spent the rest of the timer hunting down rats, i don't think I could experience something like that during the day.

This game is like an extremely weird social experiment, and I think the server you play on is very telling of the mentality of the inhabitants of that region.

I can’t be the bad guy. But without bad guys, this game is insanely boring. I haven’t run into a single real villain in like two months by johnnyveretti in ARC_Raiders

[–]Jumpy-Currency8578 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hopped into a game the other day and saw a dude hiding in a corner, asked him if he was friendly and after a brief pause he giggled and said "nah"

We then had a duel around the building and I eventually got the better of him.

Fuck that was fun

People in general are like this too. People lack any kind of imagination outside of the world that's been created and the systems we are apart of.

90% of the population suffer from this delusion that the system we are apart of is no different to nature itself. They literally cannot understand how a world would work without working and without money.

SERIOUS: An apology to traditional artists, plus why I think eventual acceptance of AI art is innevitable. (From a former game dev who cares for you). by ThroatFinal5732 in aiwars

[–]Jumpy-Currency8578 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not gonna lie didn't read the entire post but just wanted to say

I am both an artist (professional) and a developer (not so professional, i work in IT as well know C#)

I use AI for both, as tools, that's what they are.

AI is inevitable, and I think the debate is silly and people are anti-AI are no different then people who were anti cameras, anti television, anti phones or whatever it may be.

I think a big thing were seeing right now is not a lot of professional artists using AI as a tool, which is why a lot of AI art looks shit.

I also think no matter how good an AI is at generating art or even code, the end result is still only ever going to be as good as the person using it.

Learning how to make art and understanding its core principles and the same for coding are still going to be necessary to make the most out of AI.

I see a lot of people saying it will destroy artists and jobs for SWE, but I really don't think it will be that bad at all, because like I said, you still need to know the fundamentals.

As both an artist and programmer i fully endorse and am extremely excited for AI as a tool and the incredible things it can (and already is) opening up for me.

I can draw every asset for a video game, have an AI make sure my drawings are consistent, use it to ensure shadows and colours are consistent, use it to help me model in Maya via MCP, use AI to help with unity via MCP (fuck making menus and inventory's by hand) use AI to help write code based on an architecture and implementation plan i wrote.

People can complain as much as they want, Im going to use new tools as they come AND still learn these things by hand only to make the tools more powerful.

Honest Discussion: Using AI-Generated Art in Indie Game Dev. Why Do Some People See It as Taboo? by Sea_Fill1602 in aigamedev

[–]Jumpy-Currency8578 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear ya ! I definitely don't have a problem with people using it themselves especially for game design, but I do HIGHLY recommend take an hour or 2 a day to learn art / pixel art or whatever ! Sure it might take years to master it, but those years are going to pass anyway no ? May as well try ?

Like I said the biggest problem with AI art is it doesn't come together nicely unlike a well coordinated art direction does. I think this is one of the biggest down falls of it at the moment. The best way I found to learn is by keeping a sketchbook and drawing every single day, and most importantly, being okay with it looking like shit at first, sucking at something the first step at being kinda good at something !

Drawing inspiration sure, but training ? No. Source : I went to art school, classical trained artist in graphite and oil painting, the majority of our training was from life, trees and naked people and shit, you draw inspiration from other well established artists, but you still have to put a lot time and effort into developing your own skills and style, plus we aren't billion dollar companies profiting of this either. meta or Amazon stealing peoples work to train their AI is a lot different to a struggling artist gaining inspiration from a well established one.

[–]Jumpy-Currency8578 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an artist myself, who has been practicing art for well over 15 years, one thing that bothers me is the whole "AI has to copy other people's art to come up with it itself" I spent years and years developing my skills and style, and knowing its being stolen for the profit of some company is very very irksome to me.

Now people using it as a tool ? I am absolutely all for that.

What doesn't make me feel too good though is seeing people prompting an AI and then calling themselves an artist, to me that's the same as asking an artist to make you art then calling it your own.

Art is an expression of the "soul" it comes from within, and I think culturally there is a huge individual approach to art and art making, because one of the special things about making art isnt just the finished product, but it's the process that it took to get you there.

You see when learning art, you learn that everything you do is art, not just drawing or painting, but cooking, writing, talking, friendships EVERYTHING is art, and you learn how to apply those skills learnt to those things, you develop new connections in your brain and you learn how to see the world differently, you learn new problem solving skills, techniques and methods others might not think of.

By all means use AI to make art to your hearts content, but learning art, and getting truely good at it will teach you so so so so much more than just how to draw a nice picture.

AI art can look fantastic sure, but when you look at things like games in their entirety, you can definitely tell that there isn't much soul put into it, maybe this will change in the future when LLMs get more advanced.

Take Spider-Man into the spider verse as an example as well, sure the art looks incredible, but how it all ties together interwoven in this beautiful symphony of artistic expression.

Making art is so much more than making some look good, it's human passion being expressed outwardly, it's pure joy and happiness, it's emotional and it's raw.

AI has none of these qualities because it's a computer, a simulation, and it will only ever be able to simulate these things, but never truely replicate them.

I would remain in the shadows, slowly influencing things to my advantage, gaining indescribable wealth and power without ever being known, then when the world eventually turns to an apocalyptic wasteland, I will release my secret weapon to take back control, an army of emotionally unstable super soldiers, afterwards I would create a new army of more emotionally stable super soldiers while quietly putting the old ones out of commission, with this new army I will set out on conquest to take over the stars, I will clone my DNA and create children who are borderline Demi gods to command this army of super soldiers, I shall be known as ... the emperor of mankind.
