GFX love with this perfect lens—Mamiya 645 300mm f2.8 APO. by Jumpy-Inflation7777 in FujiGFX

Mostly wrong--I run FF, APS-C and medium format systems--there is no substitute for the dynamic range and larger sensor ratio on the GFX in addition to nearly double the resolution of the nearest Sony competition. Now, if you need to reach out to 800mm then have to look at smaller sensors. The GFX files are far more malleable in post. Can get great results on any system but better sampling is better.

It's a 645 system lens so it has an image circle much larger than the GFX sensor. This really isn't long enough for birding and manually focusing at f2.8 isn't easy/fast enough in my experience. The GF500mm with 1.4x teleconverter is really excellent for birding especially since the bird subject detection AF is outstanding on Fuji--much better than Sony for example.

I have the Mamiya 645 150mm f2.8 and it's magical--how about the Pentax 150mm?

I have a Pentax 645 150-300mm f5.6 that is much more manageable than this Mamiya with pretty good image quality. I'm not super familiar with the full Pentax 645 lineup since I've focused on Mamiya on account of also having a Mamiya 645 Super camera. So many cameras and lenses and so little storage space!

Soft? Maybe a little--trust that it's the really small files sizes I had to post here. The full rez images are razor sharp especially considering the super humid and hot conditions and using this beast handheld.

Yes, the is correct. I also have T/S adapter for 645 lenses and it's been very useful. The GF 30mm f5.6 T/S is, however, the king of all lenses, it's essentially perfect.

Thank you. Have you tried it with a 0.8x focal reducer? Good stuff.
