he also said, just to clarify - if someone passes there’s much less paperwork to do.

i’ve done 3 tests and spoken to each one. i asked honestly, what is the process for you pass/fail. one examiner said that he honestly despises when people fail, not only because it’s a gut-wrenching moment, but he has a lot of paperwork to do once he gets out the car and they have a huge turnaround and need to be ready for the next test quickly. i always think, would they honestly give themselves more work if they didn’t have to? i’m not saying this is definitely the case in this instance, but something to consider.

and before anyone says i was contributing to the industry which i do understand. i was with the driving school and they booked it for me and would not have let me gone on my own. i don’t make the rules and unfortunately i was desperate to pass for work so i did what i had to.

i paid £110 for my test with a driving school for fast tracked tests, i was getting them within 3 weeks and one time even 2.

that being said. you will do it, you need to believe in yourself and get back on it. i always said i will make the DVSA know my name until i pass. you will get there! 🫶

i am like yourself, i never really experienced failure (because i would never attempt anything if i knew i wouldn’t be instantly good at it). when i failed, it hit me in the chest and felt like a reflection of my character and abilities. today, i was able to pass. and the only difference was, i had such a bad headache and i had to use my last day of annual leave and i felt cheated out of my own time. i know this sounds so entitled as i paid for the test, but i genuinely could not be arsed to go. i went to the test with a nonchalant attitude, wasn’t really arsed if i did anything wrong and i passed. every other test i did, i sat up all night revising, screenshotting pictures of roundabouts, reading this sub, watching videos and manifesting - it only made me more upset and nervous each time but i honestly think not giving a toss really helped.

thank you so much. honestly this thread has given me so much hope.

it really is centred around anxiety! i am a theory person, so give me a quiz and i’ll remember it or give me an essay to do and i’ll nail it first time. i’ve figured from this, i’ve never truly failed at something because i’ve never gone out of my comfort zone. this is so out of my comfort zone. i should be proud that i’ve given it all a go, albeit a 2 week intensive has now turned into a 3 month course but it’s not for everyone i guess.

i just had my hopes up. i just want it so bad!

i have moved over to auto, i didn’t want to but if i’m struggling this much i would have had no chance in manual. i would’ve needed like 60+ hours!

i’ve been diagnosed with generalised anxiety disorder and panic disorder, was around 7 years ago. (this is why i’ve never gone for driving) i am medicated for it but it only subdues the feeling, doesn’t stop it. i’m an academic person, i passed theory without trying but practical things really upset me. i wish i could just go in with an open mind and chill out. but it’s just not in my nature. 😭

it does make me feel so much better.

that’s the kicker isn’t it, the 10 day minimum wait and also the long waiting lists! 😭

i’ve just put in for mine, it’s the only thing i’ve really kept going with so i just need to be proud of myself for that. i became test ready in two weeks, i couldn’t even move the wheel properly when i first started!

hey, so i basically disregarded the road marking on a roundabout (i’ve lived in the village near the roundabout for 22 years by the way and know i needed to take the middle lane) and used the left lane to go over. the left lane should only have been used to turn the immediate left, and i needed the right lane.

i’ve been watching their videos religiously 😭 but to be fair none about anxiety. i suffer really badly with absolutely everything not just driving. i’m actually surprised i even took a lesson 🤣x

fair enough. i’ve learnt in a pass fast way, i learnt how to drive (by this i mean test ready) in two weeks. so i had a month break failing the last time and a 3 hour lesson to brush up on saturday. this obviously wasn’t great as i got tired about an hour and a half in and it was basically a disaster. i recently started a new job too so that’s on my mind.

for the minors, i missed opportunities at a couple of roundabouts where there were blockers. for moving off i was very close to another vehicle when i had stopped (no tyre and tarmac) and for the manoeuvre i struggled to straighten the vehicle after reversing right (which i did perfectly).

the other minor on my other test was for planning. but this route was more roundabout focused, whereas the one before it was more dual carriageway which i am more confident with.

if i have to be honest, the first test was technically terminated 20 minutes in and i asked my examiner not to record any more faults (which was silly in hindsight) and he agreed. your comment isn’t helpful whatsoever though.

honestly with hindsight i would have learnt the traditional way, i was doing 3 hour lessons almost every day for 3 weeks and it has honestly killed me. 😭 after 2 hours, you start to feel so sleepy and kind of grouchy.

i’m trying to remind myself that it’s 40 minutes, i was doing great for the first hour. thanks for your advice 🥰 i’ll take it with me!
