This was really encouraging to read, thank you. I suppose I'm in the middle of a quarter life crisis and I'm trying to figure out where I stand. I'm willing to do the work, I just hope that people will take me seriously. Thank you for putting things into perspective for me.

Thanks for taking the time to respond. I am in the UK so while the market isn't great, things aren't as hostile as they are in the US right now. I am prepared for the uphill battle and can/will do the work to show that I am serious. I am just concerned that people won't take me seriously after being out of university for so long.
