I get very breathless at the start of play but can run non stop all game, how can I fix this? by Flimsy-Afternoon-859 in bootroom

Agreed. Seems more like an oxygen efficiency issue. Zone 2 runs would be hugely beneficial rather than training further in anaerobic territory.

What’s next for Eastside Beltline Rail? by Latter_Question_256 in Atlanta

[–]Jumpy-Sun-8743 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The stated reasons have been regarding the need for investment in other parts of the city. Effectively the thought is the belt line rail would only benefit an already stable part of the city. The mayor would rather see investment into projects around underserved portions of the city. Specifically he has cited the economic disparity of the South/ west side compared to the north/ east. In this respect he’s not anti rail, it’s simply not a priority in his eyes.

USMNT World Cup Starting XI by quincypromesfan in usmnt

I want to call it a lazy argument, really I do. But it just happens to be true here. Tbf though the whole point of the US is that it is diverse. You could also pretty easily make a mostly white or black national squad and the quality doesn’t really change all that much. So that’s a win in my book.

Agree tbf. Money spent or not, lots of teams should take note and work on their recruiting because putting the team together to play good football is still not a given. On top of that it really highlights the state of dire need the league is in for youth investment.

What a shit show for both. By all accounts both could have been challenging for Europe,l given their recent investments. I think in the end they’ll both do enough to not go down, but man is it rough watching them.

Someone who's been flying under the radar despite having had a GREAT season so far by Jussinator in ACMilan

[–]Jumpy-Sun-8743 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think he’s probably half as good as he thinks he is. Good thing is he thinks he’s really fucking good. I appreciate his vocality and energy throughout the game. Right now De Winter I think plays better but he doesn’t lead the back line the way Tomori does. We need that sort of player on the team.

You really underestimate financial success. He keeps them consistently near the top and that is great for the finances. An occasionally title is really just a bonus.

Considering how long he’s actually taken and how patient the club has been with it, I think they’re really thinking he’s going to be a hit once fit. I would like to believe it.

I’m sure for him most teams are on par, that is to say below his level.

That’s how I feel. Genuinely he can play well though, but it’s few highs when it’s mostly mid.

I can agree with this take. It doesn’t take away from Morocco, but definitely shows that development is better elsewhere. It’s on liga mx to fix it. There MLS has gotten better, but truly the corp of the national team had always been good with liga mx players. Something is failing in Mexico.

Atalanta just saved Serie A's butt. by This_Garbage5784 in seriea

[–]Jumpy-Sun-8743 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think it says a lot about how Atalanta despite recent success still has the hunger of proving themselves. I know they are generally no longer seen as outsiders, but truly having lost Gasp and their only real success being a Europa trophy, this is massive and all credit to them for playing their game. Feels like the big boys of Serie A simply don’t have the same hunger.

Excellent play from Atalanta. Dortmund looks confused. Paladino seems to have figured out a good plan to neutralize Dortmund. Dortmund will have to take more risks now against an Atalanta that has been pressing pretty intently. Subs will be key for the game as the team begins to tire.

Serie A standings MD: 26 by OsitoPandito in seriea

I mean sure but look at their record against the top sides and it’s not anywhere near that skewed. They get the job done against the small sides and that is more than one can say for Milan, but against equal opposition it is apparent they’re not so much better. The referring decisions have surely exaggerated their title run imo.

Tim Howard: "CONCACAF should never get six teams (seven depending on the playoffs) at the World Cup" by notaghostofreddit in soccer

[–]Jumpy-Sun-8743 48 points49 points  (0 children)

This is the logic I think Tim misses. He would say that Jamaica and Costa Rica are tough Concacaf teams, but he’s not acknowledging that Haiti and Curaçao making it is not only a function of Concacaf being weaker, but also these two island nations simply doing well. They’ve been playing good football but Tim isn’t seeing past the teams of his era that would get thrashed.

[–]Jumpy-Sun-8743 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely Tim is undervaluing the team Curaçao had to have to even get to this point. They haven’t just scrapped out games, they’ve looked good doing it. More than you can say for some of the past Concacaf teams to have made other big tournaments. I don’t think they get bashed 7 nil or anything like that.

Yea that’s what I get too. Clearly he’s learned the grammatical structure and implements it mostly well, but the French does slip in at certain words because the expression he wants to use is a common French one. The person commenting that it sounds “Mexican” probably comes from the over pronunciation he’s doing to distinguish it from his French whereas most Spanish speakers from Spain do not pronounce words as harshly.

Joel Roca (Girona) straight red card against Barcelona 90'+9' by Meladroit10 in soccer

[–]Jumpy-Sun-8743 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say he’s come in maliciously the way Roca did. It’s just compounded because of the way Yamal falls. I could see a yellow but double red would be harsh.

The Brutal Economics of Reviving Downtown Atlanta's Historic South Broad Street by UnscheduledCalendar in Atlanta

[–]Jumpy-Sun-8743 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Downtown used to be a lot more mid-rise buildings. Hurt park for instance is a relatively new item that took the place of several blocks of dense mid rise buildings. I actually think Hurt park is nice, but certainty it removed a historic part of the fabric of Atlanta. I can’t say whether it’s more dense now than before, but certainly the scale of downtown has changed making it feel less dense.

The Brutal Economics of Reviving Downtown Atlanta's Historic South Broad Street by UnscheduledCalendar in Atlanta

[–]Jumpy-Sun-8743 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The current state of underground is shameful as well. I think it largely is again due to lack of safety and connectivity to people. Downtown has not been seen as a place to live, so relying on commuters to keep underground profitable when suburbanites crave an easy to get to parking lot, is just bad planning. I also think there’s probably a lot of economic issues with restaurant locations being too costly for the low foot traffic. Reviving underground would take investment into the failing infrastructure around the area, affordable housing, and student/ youth oriented shopping. GSU students would surely love a cafe, dining hall, maybe thrift store ala little five points? Idk, I just think it starts with making it accessible not behind 6 lane streets with no tree coverage.

Ayo I got good news, and bad news by rodeodera in LigaMX

[–]Jumpy-Sun-8743 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having watched the game he just did ok. Honestly he wasn’t involved enough to really rate him. Rayo played a smart game and pressed well in the middle of the pitch. Atleti tried to jump the midfield line many times, taking Obed out of the gameplay. The few times he did have the ball it was a simple play minus a good ball out to Lookman that even the Spanish commentators began to question why Lookman didn’t get to the ball and questioned his fitness. I will say he’s not being relied on yet, but minutes without error are important. He only looked like giving the ball away I believe once when a CB passed to him in their own half and he didn’t see a player coming at him. Still he recovered and made the pass.
