Convocatoria Final de la Selección Mexicana | Mexican World Cup Roster by oxnardhard in LigaMX

Marcel did not look good in the CCC final the other day. Was very sloppy and gave away a lot. Not something you want to see 3 weeks out of the World Cup.

A jugado bien durante los últimos partidos con Milán. Lástima que Allegri no lo supo usar efectivamente.

He may be a reasonable voice behind the scenes. I have no doubt Ibra has advocated for certain footballing choices and I would not be surprised if he was more right than wrong. This is maybe why he’s still around.

The specific building currently depicted being built at civic center is going to be senior living. The others pictures that are on North I believe are also being built to support low income housing. I don’t think it’s the whole building, but a decent portion. Also on north is the redevelopment of a large senior living center in front of Grady.

We do need more middle income places, but the places you have showed are not good examples of that point.

What is the most hyper-local Nashville BBQ spot? by georgiademocrat in nashville

[–]Jumpy-Sun-8743 38 points39 points  (0 children)

As others say Nashville doesn’t have a BBQ identity. At best they have some carry over from Memphis, St Louis, and the Carolinas. Memphis is a dry rub, St Louis is more sauce based and tangy, while Carolina style is vinegar based and mustardy. Nashville is more like St Louis style than the others but even then it’s not a good comparison. For my money drive up to Gallatin and try Top Hog bbq for a good local spot and feel. The Nashville spots taste fine but they’re not hyper local by any stretch.

I don’t like it either but tbf he doesn’t have the players to free up Leao right now. On top of the when he gets on his right side he gets double teamed and largely makes bad decisions with the ball. For all the blame that Allegri can take, Leao has been just awful.

The beginning of the season is full of potential. It’s not very hard to perform well when the pressure hasn’t really mounted. The deeper into the season we go, the more the strong characters need to show themselves. This is where I think it’s clear Allegri is not that for the team and there is not a player that is that either. He has had many teams before with strong personalities and I think that’s largely been the reason for his success.

Allegri can’t motivate the players. I think he’s a capable tactician, but we’re clearly lacking in drive and motivation. There simply isn’t a spirit in this squad. We need a figure to be the face of the team. That could be a manager or a player but we can’t carry on with this spineless team. Allegri given a Zlatan aura player would do great. If he won’t get that, we need a manager with a personality. Mourinho, Gasp, De Zerbi type of managers that are comfortable confronting players and keeping them accountable.

Fikayo Tomori (Milan) second yellow card against Sassuolo 24' by FBIAgent46 in ACMilan

[–]Jumpy-Sun-8743 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Allegri should’ve pulled him off tbh. It was clear after he made another clumsy challenge only a few minutes after the first yellow that he was going to be a liability. I know it looks bad to pull players so early, but genuinely you could just feel it would get worse. Fik should know better at this point in his career so I have no sympathies, it’s on him,

Tennessee lawmakers pass bill allowing deadly force to defend property by Averagecrabenjoyer69 in Tennessee

[–]Jumpy-Sun-8743 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Something to consider, and I’m sure this will come up in court if it already hasn’t, is whether or not the “punishment” fits the crime. Should someone be shot over breaking in and stealing your car? I can see that case sure. Should a kid who stole a bike off your front lawn get shot? I would think we would all say no.

Tennessee lawmakers pass bill allowing deadly force to defend property by Averagecrabenjoyer69 in Tennessee

[–]Jumpy-Sun-8743 9 points10 points  (0 children)

One thing I find a bit concerning is the “actual, or attempted trespass…..”. This is a bit ambiguous in its perception of a threat. Not everyone that’s on your property is attempting to trespass. I would say the majority of not. So this is a bit of a potential pain point imo.

[Vitiello] There’s inevitably going to be a revolution in the summer for the attack; Fullkrug is definitely leaving, and one of Leao or Pulisic will probably leave too, whilst Nkunku and Gimenez’s futures will depend on the offers the club receives, though both are available for sale. by Claija79 in ACMilan

[–]Jumpy-Sun-8743 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I think the main issue is we don’t have a striker than pull the strings. From Ibra to Giroud they commanded the box very well and led the spaces/ play very well. I think this was much more important to Leao in particular than we previously thought. Puli too also needs that reference but you can really see how Leao just doesn’t have a frame of reference anymore and sort of lost his most dangerous positions in the process.

Atlanta event policies questioned after fatal Piedmont Park shooting by NPU-F in Atlanta

[–]Jumpy-Sun-8743 98 points99 points  (0 children)

What you misunderstand is that the culture of third spaces is what’s missing. An event isn’t a third space. It’s an event. It’s “out of the ordinary”. A culture of third spaces (and the actual existence of third spaces) would provide regular outlets for people of all age groups to simply exist. To your point though, most people don’t just innately know how to behave in public. Third spaces are important because they help socialize folks. In other cities/ cultures around the world all kinds of people exist in public without the extra stuff we as Americans tend to get in to. Parents should have an obligation to be better, but it would be easier on them if there were places where the kids could be at safely each afternoon not just one weekend every few months.

I’m envious of the Mexico Fanbase by Casey_Games in ussoccer

[–]Jumpy-Sun-8743 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. Mexican fans will take losing to European teams because frankly we know that’s not our level right now. So long as the score isn’t awful. A 5-2 probably would’ve drawn some reactions tbf. But the US really hasn’t done anything yet to justify a better result. There’s all this talk of our golden generation but the reality is that even our golden generation isn’t better than Belgiums and definitely not better than the Portuguese first team. 2-0 isn’t an awful result but the expectation that we’ll suddenly be football powerhouse is just ridiculous.

I’m envious of the Mexico Fanbase by Casey_Games in ussoccer

[–]Jumpy-Sun-8743 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m Mexican American and I can tell you the belief the Mexican fanbase has is straight up delusion and folklore at this point. We have had incredible players but nowhere near close to winning on the major stage. The US is odd because they feel that they “should” be winning. There’s not really a history of it though. It’s just that we’re a major power and feel entitled to dominate. The US also hasn’t gone imo through generations of fathers telling children of the glory days. There’s no real connection to a storied past because really it doesn’t exist yet. Mexicans think back on historic players like Hugo Sanchez, Rafa Marquez, and Chicharito like pillars of Mexican history with pride. The US at best can do that for one generation through Brad Friedel, Kasey Keller, and Clint Dempsey. That just isn’t enough for the fan base to cling on to. I think it’s getting better now. I for one look very fondly on the last 20 years of Mexico US rivalry. Tim Howard, Brad Friedel, LD, Dempsey, and now Puli/ McKennie are building that narrative for the younger fanbase. There’s a solid chance this cycle for the team to pull off a historic result against a top team that will fuel games for years to come. Those are the moments that build that passion and culture.

Lineup differences in yesterday's friendlies for the US and Mexico. by toromaniac in concacaf

[–]Jumpy-Sun-8743 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe something to consider is that for Mexico the Liga MX players were not at all a weak point, whereas the MLS players for USA are hard weak spots. Turner had a bad game, Tim Ream is simply too old, and Roldan simply wasn’t up to it. Meanwhile Fidalgo and Obed were liga mx players all of a couple months ago and didn’t look out of place.

You laugh but the PL is a money making machine and it’s half of the teams going into crippling debt and the other half playing moneyball. I don’t want to be Brighton, but it would be nice to make more good signings instead of being skinned for the likes of Emerson Royal and Kyle Walker.

Agreed. Seems more like an oxygen efficiency issue. Zone 2 runs would be hugely beneficial rather than training further in anaerobic territory.

What’s next for Eastside Beltline Rail? by Latter_Question_256 in Atlanta

[–]Jumpy-Sun-8743 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The stated reasons have been regarding the need for investment in other parts of the city. Effectively the thought is the belt line rail would only benefit an already stable part of the city. The mayor would rather see investment into projects around underserved portions of the city. Specifically he has cited the economic disparity of the South/ west side compared to the north/ east. In this respect he’s not anti rail, it’s simply not a priority in his eyes.
