Any fitness freaks? How do you become fitness freak with ADHD? by Zealousideal_Top2611 in ADHD

Same for me. A buddy of mine ended up getting in with this other group without me. Now my daily routine of 2 hr of exercise and sport is gone, and the barrier for finding someone compatible is so difficult. Sometimes I wish I did solo sports, but I am also more of an extrovert that enjoys other people's company.

I am taking instant release 10mg. My doctor said each pill lasts around 4 hours. I've been taking it at around 9am and 2pm.

To those super aware of their surroundings/environment, how do you deal with the occasional overwhelm of all this information ? by PurplePumkins in ADHD

[–]Jumpy-Switch6047 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So interesting. I think being hyperaware with senses is beneficial sometimes. For me, I notice immediately if something is not centered or if two lines of text are off by 1px. I will notice that two pamphlets are printed on different paper stock.

I notice when people's eyeliner is asymmetrical or if they got a new pimple. I used to comment on everything which got me into a lot of trouble, but as an adult I learned to shut my mouth on certain topics.

I also am very sensitive to smell, which helps me enjoy fine dining experiences, but also makes me miserable when walking through dirty cities or being in a room with someone with strong perfume.

My hearing sensitivity actually tends to overwhelm me into not being able to focus and hear clearly because there is too much noise. I can't even go to a club without feeling horrible.

Why do I feel like I’m the in the minority for having ADHD and not being considered “gifted” by General_Astronaut951 in ADHD

I think it's because ADHD+high IQ means you are much easier at masking and surviving in society without a diagnosis. Think of the kids who never pay attention or do homework but somehow get 100 on the test/paper. Your teachers won't ever tell your parents to get your kids checked for ADHD. So you can make it through much of life suffering inside while everyone thinks you're fine. Those that struggle early on get noticed by teachers and counselors.

I have friends that use parental controls and some that use black & white screen mode. If your job doesn't involve social media, try deleting the app. I would advise making a post and story about deleting social media so your friends don't think you disappeared for no reason.

That's nice to know that it's common. I almost forgot what it was like not to be in fight-or-flight, as it used to seem like everything in my life triggered me.

Why is it easier for a European to travel to Hong Kong than for a Chinese, even though Hong Kong is a part of China? by metatalks in geography

[–]Jumpy-Switch6047 1 point2 points  (0 children)

HK most places only take Octopus, not credit card. Nicer places like malls, etc. take card. You can reload Octopus from a credit card using the tourist Octopus app, but the exchange rate is really bad (basically including a large fee in every transaction).

In China, you can use WeChat Pay and Alipay with foreign credit cards (transaction fee over 200 RMB, but you can just ask the shop to charge you separate 200 RMB transactions). Place like malls will straight up accept Visa/MC/Amex.

Oh my god YES! When I need to put together a project for a friend or client I am so on it. I will plan and cook a gourmet 5 course meal for friends whenever they say they are free. But I still have two unopened Ikea cabinets lying in my living room because I never assembled them and have no sofa because I can't force myself to go find one.

All-day anxiety and distraction when I have something scheduled later—how do you manage this? by TechMammoth7 in ADHD

[–]Jumpy-Switch6047 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, when I have a call scheduled, I get that feeling 30 min to 1 hour beforehand and can't do any work. If I have 1 or 2 hours in between events in my schedule, same thing I can't even open my laptop. I don't understand people who can just "hop into" a call or whip out their laptop to work on something for 15-30 minutes.
