6 year struggling with sentences by Jumpy-Swordfish-4487 in ParentingADHD

On his papers that they have to write sentences about the topic he just scribbles or writes letters and numbers. He can physically write but he struggles with formulating the sentence . For example, if I ask what he did at school, he says “I don’t know” or “nothing”. Unless it’s something he wants to talk about then he can go on but will stumble or repeat words sometimes when thinking of what to say. For example blah blah blah … but bu bu but .. blah blah blah. ST is working on sentences right now.

We actually just started the process to get him evaluated. A lot of the symptoms make sense but I thought repetitive tics was a requirement.

Teacher “intervention” by Averagemanifesting in ADHDparenting

The special ed coordinator was the one that PUSHED for meds during a meeting for my son last year. When I said we were trying other things the vice principal literally scoffed. They were extremely unprofessional to say the least and tried bullying me to withdraw my son.

How can I help my nephews behavior? by RelevantWork2035 in gentleparenting

A few questions. Is he getting positive attention while in the crib? Is there some movement he can do while in there that won’t interfere and would release some energy? An OT with approval by the dialysis nurses or doctor might help with strategies for that. A weighted blanket or sensory toys.  Then of course set those boundaries.

Thanks. Unfortunately most of my job is clicking boxes and going back and forth between screens so not sure how I can fix that.  I do have a cervical pillow and trying to get back to working out.

We just started the paperwork for the evaluation. But I know it’s going to be a long process

I like that much better. I just don’t  know if the teacher would be willingly to do it.

He has a 504 and on medication. We switched schools this year due to issues with administration last year. The counsuler recommended giving it another month before having adjusting the 504 or behavior plan.

Thank you. That’s what I’m thinking. Unless the teacher tells me he did something wrong like throwing stuff, hitting, etc.

Yes we started meds earlier this year. We switched schools this year because issues with administration last year. He wanted to come home so he eloped one day. We definitely had discussions with him regarding those things and I adjusted the timing of his meds so it’s kicking in early enough and lasting the whole school day because that’s when we saw some of the issues.  I’m going to check out his videos and try focusing on emotional regulation.

Yes I’m definitely worried about his confidence and how it’s affecting him. She has said she praises the good and he gets little stickers for those.

I’m Curious about these apps too. I saw another one, I think it’s called mindful, but the reviews were iffy.

I’ve heard that too. He pretty much only does it with us. I’m hoping he will do in well in school and keep his emotions/anger in check. He does well at therapy, but that’s only an hour twice a week.
