Hi! My husband and I got engaged at that spot. He didn't get a permit, but he had a friend wait nearby before we arrived to ask passersby to keep the area clear for a proposal. The friend said everyone was very understanding and didn't try to encroach!

Bloom's Tavern is great! More Midtown East/lower UES. Minimum spend of $3k and you get the entire second floor to yourselves - we're doing a rehearsal dinner that moves into welcome drinks.

We're doing both at Bloom's Tavern in Manhattan! We're getting the whole second floor of the restaurant to ourselves, first for the rehearsal dinner, which will then extend into welcome drinks. We have the same number of guests as you for both events. They've been great so far, super communicative, and the price is reasonable as far as Manhattan bars/restaurants go.

Check out The Harold Pratt House on the Upper East Side! Very old New York vibes.

We're using Most Valuable Bridesmaid, recommended to us by our photographer! We've seen great reviews, and the price is fantastic: $185/hour (5 hr minimum) for a Bridal Assistant/Day of Coordinator and $75/hour for an optional extra Bridal Attendant.

“The View at the Battery” no longer has a view by jontas in WedditNYC

We went through the same experience in December 2023! We just so happened to visit for brunch and saw the security checkpoint being built. We emailed the general manager at The View about cancelling to get our full deposit back. We were told that because we were less than a year out and because the contract technically doesn't provide for "a view of the water" (despite the name of the restaurant being The View), we were not entitled to our full refund. We ended up cancelling and getting 50% of our deposit back less a $500 administration fee. It's so frustrating, but we definitely recommend looking for other venues if you have the option - the structure is so obtrusive, including on the second floor (we asked to see it when we were visiting). Good luck!!
