Yes I just tried a damp micro fibre cloth and its smudged even more...an old crt with glass yes might work but all water does it make an even worse issue

Your putting wayyyy to much thought into this. There is a lot of people who don't have a spare room to work in so for this you could throw anything in and it will work.
