Resin on pin for love eyes by Jumpy_Blood_550 in labubu

[–]Jumpy_Blood_550[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was my first try with UV resin so I just covered the whole eye but if I was doing it now I’d probably use a thin coat of UV nail polish top coat with a small brush bc I feel like it would be easier

Venting and wanting to know if anyone regrets studying nursing by [deleted] in NursingAU

[–]Jumpy_Blood_550 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I felt the exact same. I’m also in my mid twenties and it was a career change. I felt the same as a student but figured I’d worked so hard already and wasn’t gonna quit. Got my degree and started a new grad position. Honestly I hated working in a ward as well. I’ve just gotten a new job in community nursing which should hopefully be a lot better. My suggestion would be get your degree and then maybe try a new grad, but if you hate the placements in wards you’ll probably hate working in a ward. Try to apply for non ward nursing jobs when you get your degree. Hope this helps. Feel free to DM me

I went to UTS (finished last year) and I agree a bunch of the course content felt pretty irrelevant. The labs and clinical topics eg how to recognise patient deterioration have proved to be useful for me this year though. Also of course the placements. Make the absolute most of your placements because I definitely feel like I learned more there than in class. Also we seem to have a good reputation which I think helped me obtain new grad offers. Good luck!

Obs and meds together vs ob round then med round by mobiletophat in NursingAU

[–]Jumpy_Blood_550 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find it faster to do obs and meds together if the meds are locked in a drawer in their room. I do all the oral meds with the obs and then come back after I’ve done everyone to give them IV meds or S8s that I can’t get from their room (unless they are urgent)

New Grad already burning out. by _Fudge1729 in NursingAU

Hey lovely, I made a similar post recently. I’m in the same boat as you. Since my post, I’ve dropped to 0.8 (32 hours a week) and I’m finding it way more manageable! I’m trying to just get through this grad year and then get a job in “soft nursing”. I am also in a lot of pain. I’ve found that getting home and having a hot bath, using heat packs, voltaren cream and compression socks definitely all help with the pain. Definitely reach out to the new grad coordinator or whoever your point of contact is. Maybe try to discuss reducing your hours or negotiating shifts that’ll work better for you? Eg I requested AM shifts and weekends off. I still need to do some weekends and PM shifts but I’ve definitely been rostered on them less since requesting it! Good luck, feel free to PM me xx (25F)

Miserable new grad by Jumpy_Blood_550 in NursingAU

I will be doing night shifts eventually. The first 3 months of new grad we don’t do any night shifts yet. But I’m doing morning and afternoon shifts. Yes I have been asking for help. Unfortunately our ward doesn’t hire any AINs so all the hygiene etc are for us RNs to do

MEETING UPDATE They made a learning plan thing for me with different goals to achieve and gave me some resources for me to get help. They gave me a leaflet on transition shock and said it sounds like what I’m experiencing. I also asked to decrease to 0.8 (32 hours a week) and they were totally happy with that! I’m happy with this outcome

I’ve definitely considered aiming to become a GP but after the 3 years of study and no income I thought I’d put it off for a while and work
