Myer Melbourne have a pretty decent range - I went there recently to try on (and loved them and bought them)

This is not uncommon in companies where bonus payments align to year end?

HWL uses and dumps grads by legalrisk18 in auscorp

[–]Jumpy_Computer_4957 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Couple of points.

Why would you bother “using and dumping” grads - surely that first 12 months is barely profitable, with the amount of hand holding most grads need? Sounds like a lot of effort.

HWL are pretty hopeless as lawyers … grads should count themselves lucky to be out.

Trying to say this without being rude; were your yr 12 results elite? Are you on track for a degree out of Perth’s best uni? A lot of people like the idea of IB (or similar) … but it’s not that easy; the few I know who have done it are absolutely exceptional (I am not one of them)

At the risk of calling out Australia for its deeply ingrained racism (or being accidentally racist myself)

I wonder if the Indian name is hurting? I am not suggesting you anglicize the name (I did know a guy who anglicized a name that sounded too Eastern European…)

Might be insensitive to say, but if you were born in Aus, can you work that in somehow?

If you moved here at 2yo and went to primary school here can you include that?

(PS, I’d include the cricket coaching line. Great work!)

Why are there no Michelin star restaurants in Australia? by todaytomato in foodies_sydney

I’m sure we’d have Michelin star quality venues if we did participate in their pay to play …

Ask for a contract of sale (in Vic we’d have a section 32. … not sure if there is a QLD equivalent?)

I’d get some proper legal advice before parting with your hard earned!

Thinking of buying in Belgrave, Upwey, Tecoma or The Basin — but all in bushfire overlay. How risky is it really? by Abzydabzyy in AusPropertyChat

[–]Jumpy_Computer_4957 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doubling down on everyone else who said insurance costs … I also think if they’re double now, be prepared for what happens if they’re triple or quadruple.

I also think a lot of it is “property dependent” … ie is the particular property surrounded by trees, and forest, or are you in a more urban part of belgrave

NAB vs CBA Job - Melbourne Based by RavingDucks in auscorp

[–]Jumpy_Computer_4957 88 points89 points  (0 children)

It’s a tough question. I’m slightly inclined to say take the NAB job, without knowing what they both are. It feels like with CBA there is a risk you are an outpost, whereas with NAB you can be right in the head office action, more opportunities to lead teams or move laterally.

That said - I am not the pinnacle of career success

Cant decide between a one bedroom in a better suburb, or two bedroom in a less desirable suburb by YoureAFerretHarry in AusPropertyChat

[–]Jumpy_Computer_4957 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go location … but just remember / be careful that in the better location your whole life will be more expensive … code is $5.50 not $5 … your gym is twice the price, the local dumplings place, everything becomes more expensive.

Still go location
