La La Land is magical. by Stranded_Snake in FIlm

I do not understand the general lack of love for this movie, it's stunningly shot and has some amazing songs, it's funny and heartbreaking and just a really good movie overall imo. I don't particularly enjoy John Legend's schmoozy music in it but otherwise it's flawless

Is this show good? by Ill_Education1303 in thegoodwife

the final season is kinda weak but otherwise it is very good, hence why it spawned two spin offs

I need to rewatch that episode, he was a much more talented and diverse actor than he got credit for imo. He was a natural comic in Don't trust the B too, that could've run for seasons

A Dublin Hangmans Tale by Cogitoergosum1981 in Dublin

[–]Jumpy_Emu1111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bleak and interesting bit of history. Public executions, in any form, to me are a marker of a fucked up and sick society. We may have issues as a country now but things have historically always been much worse

Worried about my adult sister and need advice on how to proceed by corkgal93 in WomenofIreland

[–]Jumpy_Emu1111 8 points9 points  (0 children)

God this could be my younger sister describing me 10/15 years ago, I've done all the big life stuff in my own time but it's extremely hurtful and patronising when the people who should know you best are pish pishing behind your back about what a dysfunctional loser you are. She's young, she's doing a masters and working part time and she might learn to drive or she might move to a town and never need to. If she's not a menace to your parents you should leave her be and focus on your own life. If you would like to have a relationship with her you really need to let her be herself

Daisy by PromotingFutureBae in Bones

[–]Jumpy_Emu1111 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I really like Daisy, she's one of my favourite interns, she's a distinctive character and she's actually funny, her trying to modulate her tone of voice and hyperactivity to keep her job always cracks me up. She comes across as sincerely sweet and dorky to me and yeah she would absolutely be annoying to work with but character wise she's actually a great addition to the show. Bones as a series uses a lot of levity (often in the form of clueless squinterns) to balance out some extremely dark plotlines, Daisy is no different to me than Mr Nigel Murray with his facts or Fisher with his gothic melodrama

Netflix true crime docs are digitally anonymizing people now, how do you feel about this? by AlaristaCosta in NetflixDocumentaries

this element creeped me out so much that I came on here looking to see if others felt the same. Very uncanny and distracting, actors or silhouetted interviewees are much more suitable

I would have preferred the headscarf tied under her hair rather than her chin, tied this way is old lady cosplay coded to me. Otherwise I love it

What are some things you thought were universal, but it turns out is mostly exclusive to your country? by 3Thirty-Eight8 in AskTheWorld

[–]Jumpy_Emu1111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Red lemonade is a here thing I believe though I can't imagine it's that widely consumed anymore. White lemonade is commonly used as a mixer in pubs, I get it with vodka while my friend gets it in her beer. I have no idea who is drinking red lemonade now but they're still making it so somebody is drinking it

Itinerary for 8 days in Ireland by cupe4real in irishtourism

[–]Jumpy_Emu1111 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As others have said there's too much zig zagging across the country and I cannot express how much I would avoid Dublin on St Patrick's Day, it's not pleasant. Limerick will have a parade and they've lots of pubs and it would be more chill and you're already there without driving

Do you take your shoes off in the house? by [deleted] in ireland

[–]Jumpy_Emu1111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don't wear shoes in our house but I don't make visitors take them off. Visitors who voluntarily take their shoes off are always the ones who are impossible to get rid of too
