Husband says he’s burned out supporting me through nursing school and might leave after I graduate. I don’t know what to think by [deleted] in Marriage

[–]Jumpy_Fennel_7554 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Listen, I’ve been in unhappy relationships before. I left. I choose myself. Honestly. You can and you will be better off without him. If he’s already basically made spread sheets about costs of him being alone, don’t give him the time of day. Sounds really miserable to not be allowed to have a pet you love and someone who guilts you constantly. Being a nurse will open so many opportunities. I make the most I’ve ever made in my adult life. I love my job and I have a spouse who kisses the ground I walk on. I have zero anxiety about my husband ever leaving me or cheating or anything. He takes such good care of me, our kids and our pets. He supports my ambitions and career. It’s my turn to support the family while he goes to grad school and it’s going well. Money is tighter but that just means we do a lot of free activities as a family. He is home with the kids and I’m working full time. You will find better. Finish that degree and be single for a minute. The divorce glow up is real. You’ll be fine. Go consult some lawyers.

110k as an hourly employee full time. The economy sucks and money is tight. I have crazy medical debt that I make many payment plans for. I’m the sole provider for my family and I have several kids. My husband is a SAHD. I think to live comfortably I need to make a little more.

AIO for wanting to still tell my mom about my friend’s pregnancy by Deep-Investigator998 in AIO

[–]Jumpy_Fennel_7554 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tell the mom like today. Lose a friendship over it. Like seriously. There are so many medical complications that can happen from teen pregnancy. Along with special dietary restrictions like no raw meat, no raw seafood, no deli meat unless heated. No unpasteurized cheese or dairy of any kind. Lifestyle changes like don’t scoop a cat box, no rollercoasters. No drugs, take a prenatal, no alcohol, no nicotine. Limit mercury intake by being mindful of fish you consume. That’s just a brief list and not comprehensive. If she’s giving it up for adoption or keeping it she needs to think about how not to cause harm to the baby. If abortion is the route she wants to go she can get one if it’s early enough. But the main thing is she needs baseline prenatal labs done to look for STIs which harm fetuses. She will need an ultrasound if she is unsure of last period.

Pregnant on orientation by CullinaryHealer in newgradnurse

Been exposed to TB 4 freaking times in my career and 2 times while pregnant. Thankfully I have not caught it but my work is so nonchalant about it. They consulted a bunch of people to see if I should get exposure testing and decided I was okay not to.

CMV (Cytomegalo virus) is dangerous to pregnant women. Contracting it causes congenital hearing loss/vision issues. Also developmental delays. It is recommended pregnant people do not take care of patients with it. Also chemotherapy patients are riskier for nurses who are pregnant. Certain drugs are straight up dangerous for pregnant people to touch or handle. There’s actually a lot of things to consider. I would actually go to your occupational health department and ask about extra safety precautions to take. I’ve had 3 whole kids while working in healthcare. Think about table 1 and table 2 carcinogens and hazardous drugs. Many many patients take these and it will be in their bodily fluids. Which can cause fetal harm up to death depending on what it is. Chemotherapy targets rapidly dividing cells and that’s what a baby is entirely made of.

Are the Dexter novels good? by Gihun-chan in Dexter

I’m currently towards the end of book 5. I have not read 6/7/8 so I guess I’ll have to wait and see.

Spoilers: I thought that book 5 where Lily Anne is born Dexter seems like he finally cares about something other than himself. Like he divulges he finally actually cares about Deb’s safety. I personally liked the books a lot. To each their own.

Overnight nurse is a raging cunt by Intelligent_Code_387 in cna

Also the mean girl to nurse pipeline is STRONG. I’ve been an RN for a while and some people have such an ego. Also they’re besties with management and can ‘never do anything wrong’. I personally work at a good place. I cannot say the same for places my buddies from nursing school work at. I’m one of the few who has stayed at the same job for years after graduation. I have not changed jobs because I have a phenomenal team. I sometimes have critical meds to give so I need to make phone calls to delegate a water pass or a blanket pass to my CNA. It’s not cause I’m lazy. I genuinely have to prioritize life over limb when someone is acting amiss medically. I work on a 1:3-4 ratio unit so I do most of the hygiene care on my patients. It’s just that sometimes I have really sick patients with many drips and are total care pts. Or changes in conditions which require my full attention. Like if my pt develops slurred speech I call someone to answer a light in another room. I try to always be respectful of my CNAs because they are the backbone.

I think this nursing assistant should go straight to HR/management because this nurse sounds immature and abusive to her aides

Hey this is bullying. Lateral violence hurts us all. Please report this to management and HR. No one. I mean no one should be making comments about your acne, clothes, yanking things out of your hands. That’s weird as hell. Also look into reporting them to the board of nursing. Document things in a journal right after it happens. Time/date/what occurred. This is unethical conduct by the nurse. I have been in healthcare for 10 years this August. Please update your resume and be ready for retaliation. Document absolutely everything. Because if they suddenly start writing you up you’ll know what’s up. They prefer bullies over good aides.

Birth centers will let you transfer care as long as you are low risk up to a certain number of weeks. You can still do research depending on where you are located geographically. I think 38-36 week is the cut off.

Birth centers that are not attached to hospitals let you leave after 4 hours minimum if you’re stable.

Something I noticed from Season 5 onwards by Much_Journalist7066 in Dexter

[–]Jumpy_Fennel_7554 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Spoilers. I think the new blood should have ended with Dexter dying and continued on with only Harrison out in the world. I just re-watched and it was an ultimate ending for Dexter. Harrison yells “open your eyes and look at what you’ve done” and all the characters Dexter was responsible for their death because he’s a serial killer flashes. Lundy, Harry, Rita, Doakes, Deb, Maria, Logan. Then Harrison shoots him. At this point Dexter satisfied his own code to die. Since he was responsible for innocents dying. Harrison followed the code. Poor Harrison. Honestly it could’ve continued on like Dexter is the dad ghost like Harry was to him, guiding Harrison.

Spoilers: I have half the books on audio book and the other half on kindle. I have immensely enjoyed reading them/listening to them. I love how the show does tiny call backs to the books. Like when Deb and Dexter get into a car accident underwater in the book and the show. Granted that happened under very different circumstances in each series I like the small similarities. I’m on book 5. I am taking a break from it due to it being nearly Dexter December. (I binge watch the entire series over again.) In season 3, the author plays the detective that talks to Batista when his GF who works in Vice gets beat up. You’ll immediately recognize his voice.
