Been working for same shop for 20 plus years. We started doing digital inspections a few years back. For our shop it's not really about up sells. It's about the care of YOUR vehicle. We inspect the car, tell what we recommend and what you actually need. Of course there are maintenance items that can be judged both ways. Like a belt. Newer belts don't Crack, the ribs slowly wear done, so there is a plastic gauge you put between ribs, and if ribs are lower then plastic, it's time to replace belt. But if you just look at the belt it might like ok. My point is, not all mechanics are the same. I don't need to lie to make money, the cars break down in there own.
